It's simple to use, stays securely on my visor, and with a click of the button, gives the distance to the center of the green, which is about all I'm interested in knowing. Our course has a few holes fairly close together, so occasionally on a Par 3 it may tell you that it's 240 yards to the green. On my husband's Garmin it's possible to change a hole number, however, the Golf Buddy relies completely on GPS info. You need to remember to turn it on when you first arrive at the golf course, as its "search for satellites" takes awhile.
I was torn between getting the GolfBuddy or a binocular to measure the distances. After much research I decided to go with the GolfBuddy. I have used it a few times and it has found all the courses that I play and the distances are comparable to the scope when I play with someone that uses one. I wear it on my belt and I longer have to look to find the 150 marker and estimate my distance.
After 4 rounds with this thing, I love it. I clip it to my pocket and check it before every shot which is super convenient. The clip is very sturdy and I have no worries about losing this in the middle of a round. The distances for the courses I play are spot on, I have checked them against mine and some of my buddies' laser range finders and we are never more than 3 yards different; plus this has the added bonus of giving you the distance to the front and back of the green. Battery life has not been an issue, I even forgot to charge it between two rounds that I played and it did not die on me. Love it!
This is a great product that works every time. I have used it from so many angles, shots, and rounds, and it has not led me astray! I would recommend purchasing one of these at this price because it is as accurate as my rangefinder and is just so easy to use and I love that you don't even have to look at it. Just press the button and you get the yardages, hold it and you get front, back, and middle. GREAT PRODUCT AND GREAT COMPANY IMO!
I don't even use my rangefinder very often anymore because this is just so fast. You will not be disappointed if you know what you are getting!
Got this for my husband for his birthday. He is very non-techy (no smartphone by his choice) and I wanted to get him something he could use on the course while all his buddies were using apps on their phones. He said this was really easy to use and the large numbers were easy to read.

Bought this for my husband for Christmas 2017. He started using it when the weather got nice around May 2018.
It started acting wonky by July. He called the company, and they were wonderful. They sent a mailing label to return the defective device, and he got a brand new Golf Buddy in the mail immediately. He said the new one works far better than the original, so maybe the first one had been defective when we got it. Good customer service. Anyway, he loves it, it works, and everybody is happy.
For the most part, I think this is a great little unit. The first few rounds, I found it to be very accurate (I play in the Chicago area). Like, I'd be standing on the 150 marker and the GPS would say 150. The battery life is great, too. I found I could get 2+ rounds out of it.
My reason for deducting a star... I took it to Whistler, BC and I'm not sure if its a location issue or a mountain issue, but the accuracy went way down. It would say I was on a hole that I was nowhere near. Also, One of the courses I played, I just gave up and turned it off, so keep that in mind if you're deliberating between this and one of those range finders.
I played a course in Chicago this weekend where this unit said 150 but the yardage on the course said 170. I played my 170 yard shot and it was clearly 170. Not sure why there was a 20 yard discrepancy... So I don't know, maybe it was an issue with trees or satellites.
Overall I'm happy with it and Id recommend it but the next thing I'll get will be a range finder.
This a great GPS! I paid $99 for this item from Amazon which is about $40 less elsewhere. Easy to operate, can clip to belt or hat, battery last 27 holes without charging, not sure of the accuracy but in my mind it's better than pacing steps for an estimate of yardage. And it's easy to update and put your name and phone number on the device program. Updates are free, which includes US or by state, and all other country's.
This is an update from an earlier, 3-star review. My unit's sound chip failed after just 5-6 use. I contacted GolfBuddy and they took care of the issue immediately! I received a brand-new unit quickly and with almost no questions asked. While I was a little disappointed that the unit failed so quickly, I was totally impressed with the after-the-sale customer service! Bravo Zulu!
Regarding the unit itself, love it. Works like a charm. The only problem I have noted is that I'm not the straightest hitter and sometimes when a shot strays too close to an adjacent fairway, the GolfBuddy gets confused and reads the wrong hole. No big deal but a nuisance. Otherwise, a great help on the course.
Excellent so far. I have used it three times and it finds the course quickly, and one was out in the boonies. Distances have seemed very accurate and battery has been outstanding. It doesn't give you hazard distances but then I didn't pay for one that did. Fits nicely on my hat and I am very happy with this purchase.
