This is a great little Garmin for cycling, I had a Garmin Edge 500 but this one is years advanced and has mapping . I have only been using it for a couple weeks and it is pretty technical but even an old guy like me can figure it out with a little help from Youtube and tech support. Used it on an organized ride Rise For Autism - Ride2theBeach and it did not get me lost. .
I cannot say enough about this bike computer. If you're on the fence on which bike computer to get, just buy this model. Routing on Roads is easy and very good and the Trailforks app is sweet. A friend of mine has the older 520 device and I can say the 520 plus is a huge upgrade and very much worth the extra. I bike 3-5 times per week and love how great this device works. Battery life is really good as well, did an 8+ hour ride and the battery was still at 65%. Also works great with the HR monitor I got from Amazon with the name - CooSpo Fitness Tracker Ant+ Heart Rate Monitor Chest Strap IP67 Waterproof with Bluetooth for Wahoo Strava Zwift.
I use this exclusively for mountain biking. It works well with Trailforks and you can download the MTB trail maps from Pinkbike/Trailforks. It is great to load a route from Strava or Trailforks when going to unfamiliar trail systems. You can follow the purple line on the map and avoid the need to stop at every intersection to look at a map. The MTB turn-by-turn instructions don't work well though. Most of the time it tells me to do a U-turn at each point, but it is easy enough to follow the line on the map. Sometimes the turn instructions do work, which is nice. The unit is very secure with the included mount and it has never come off. Battery life has been good - I would estimate ~10 hours when using navigation, a bit longer if not navigating. This is my first GPS bike computer and I'm very happy with it.
Garmin for the car I hated. This garmin for the bike - I love. It's helping me increase my speed and improve my average cadence. Easy upload to Strava and/or Ride with GPS. Loading a route (e.g. TCX file) should be easier but it's not too bad once you get used to it. Garmin website help is lacking but youtube has the answer for most questions. Very happy with this purchase. Well worth the money.
The device did not pair with my iPhone with Bluetooth after following the Gamin's instruction. Garmin is not much help but Amazon's product help was very helpful. The solution was simple. I needed to reset the Garmin by pressing the power button for 10 second from powered on state. After that, suddenly started working!

Description
With edge 520 Plus, you can train smarter and discover new routes. This cycling computer features advanced navigation and challenges built right in, not to mention a bright color screen, preloaded Strava live segments and the Garmin cycle Map with turn-by-turn directions. Whether you’re exploring new routes or pushing your limits at race time, edge 520 Plus has exactly what you need.
Seems reliable so far no complaints. Battery life is good due to me having sounds off, brightness at 50%, haven’t had it die on me yet. I normally do quite a few rides before I have to charge it again. It also came with the front edge mount as well as the mount that has the rubber attachments. I was not aware and ordered to mountain bike mount, which is what I ended up using with my short stem.
Excellent bike computer! Having actual buttons instead of a touchscreen is the best. If you ride outside in cooler climates and wear full finger gloves, well, that why buttons.
Personally, I would like the screen to be a touch bigger but that is only when I’m using the Map screen. For everything else it’s absolutely fine. Besides, if you use turn by turn navigation you don’t really need the map, the Edge 520 will tell you when to turn.
As for the battery, I have no complaints at all. I frequently plug the Edge 520 into my computer when I’m creating a new route and I have never had to worry about not having enough battery power. I was on a ride for 3 hours and my battery is now at 80%. So, 20% every 3 hours.
Great bike computer with more features than I need. Has all the bike trails I use built into its mapping software. The user manual needs work, it's impossible to find topics in it. Does not auto start and stop until you hunt down where that setting is in the computer and change it. Also could not pair it with an android 8.1 phone until I used a cable to my laptop to upgrade the internal software. Then it works just fine.
I can see fairly well even without my usual needed 2.0 power cheater glasses. I bought the radar also works great. lots of info for your rides.
I like this unit for the fact that it’s fairly simple to use, it’s equiped with everything needed to have a good successful ride on the bike. Integration for the Strava Segments is a tad difficult but it’s almost like the person over thinking it. Just follow step by step instructions. Also I found you do not have to have all the other sensors for this thing to work correctly. Enjoy it ride on and ride safe.
