i've tried a few different fining agents and even the bentonite/sparkalloid combo. And come of my prettiest looking wine come from just using bentonite. you can use is pretty much anything. I personally use it after fermentation has completed, i rack to a new container add my bentonite and in a day you can see it clearing. I personally dont like sparkalloid, seems to be slow, and seem to lead to sediment in some bottles since sparkaloid in theory can take up a month to clear. when using it as part of a combo, it seems to take a step backward. What i mean is that i get a really clear product after bentonite, if followed with sparkalloid it causes cloudness that last for two to three weeks. so im not a big fan of the sparkalloid/bentonite combo. Bentonite i love by itself. if i want to super polish my wine, i filter after bentonite.
Did a great job of clarifying mead in less than a day. However, less is more in this case - start out with a small amount, and add more later if additional clarifying is needed. I say this because it absorbs the liquid and forms a sludge on the bottom of your fermentation vessel, and reduces the amount of usable liquid when you rack the finished product into its final containers.
This helped a great deal on a recluse bite. I also used it with another like product in a jar. Took 2 months, but the nasty
sites healed and faded.
Works great and this is the best price I've found.
This is very effective on white wines for good clarity.

Feature Product
- Add prior to primary fermentation to clear pectic and protein haze
- Food grade
- Used at the beginning of wine making
Description
Bentonite is a clay-like mineral that removes positively charged particles from wine. Add prior to primary fermentation to clear pectic and protein haze. Add 2 teaspoons with half a cup of boiling water (or very hot) and stir for 1-2 minutes. After the solution stands for an hour, mix and stir the solution into your wine. Let stand for 7-14 days during primary fermentation, then rack into a sanitized carboy.
Cleared my wine completely! I left it in the wine for about 2 weeks and it was ready to rack. Don't try to skip out on the waiting period otherwise it won't work.
Not the best clarifier I've used. But it's safe and wont alter the flavor of your Wine. This is a first stage clarifier..Shipping was quick and hassle free.
Exactly as described. Perfect.
Takes a while to work, but does it's job, good buy.
While the bentonite worked as expected, it was not labeled at sodium bentonite. I had to call the company to find out.
