It is a genuine Apple Product in the original box with plastic seal still intact. It works great on my MacBook Pro (late 2012 model) and is even improved over the original. You can now disconnect the large gauge wire with the 3 prong plug from the adaptor. The adaptor now also has a 2 prong plug built right into it. So as another commentator noted, it's like getting 2 adaptors really: a lengthier version with the 3 prong plug inserted into the adaptor or a shorter 2 prong plug version. Very happy with is so far but I do notice that it still has the original flaw which ruined my old one. The smaller gauge wire does not disconnect and so it can get loose over time as it gets stressed during normal use. Can only hope that Apple strengthened that connection as well but only time will tell.
You can't go wrong with sticking to Apple products when you need to replace something that is supposed to attached to another Apple product. I thought I'd save some $$$$ when my MacBook Pro charger wore out (never had ANY charger from Apple wear out) and got one to replace it that was cheaper. I ended up returning TWO (2) and was promptly refunded since they each stopped working within two (2) weeks after I got them. I finally just got this one, free shipping, delivered on a Sunday...WOW. You get what you pay for.
I wish it didn't cost so much but I made the mistake of buying the generic version and it sparked and made a sizzling noise. Ended up having to go with the original for safety purposes.
I had to buy a replacement--the angle at which my adapter is used (stretching across the laptop to reach the plug) means that the cord wears down near the plug end and the wires start to show. I wish Apple would put the plug on either side of the laptop, because then I wouldn't have this problem. This replacement adapter came with all of the needed parts and worked perfectly with my Mac laptop. I didn't want to use some offbrand adapter and risk zapping my laptop (I read the horror stories!).
Works with MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid-2104). The plug-in that goes into the outlet is a 3-prong conventional design, which I like instead of trying to find the block plug-in to fit. Nice, long cord.

It works perfectly minus the design flaw and cost. The mag safe is awesome and it was a direct OEM replacement. Didn't want to burn my house down by using a non-OEM knockoff. THis one is safe and will not overcharge your expensive macbook.
Works really well. No problems here. I am actually thinking about getting another one to keep at work so this current one can stay at home.
This power adapter was a life-saver. I was on travel and forgot my adapter at home. I immediately consulted with Amazon for a replacement apple adapter that matched my Mac and it was in stock. What a deal!. Have been using it continuously for some time and it is of solid construction and excellent quality. My computer charges fast and the adapter has no flaws at all. This is a perfect replacement for a lost, or damaged adapter. High quality and great value.
i got the same wattage and such as my old one that came with the computer . it doesn't heat up any more than the original. no smell, holing up just fine.
It is worth paying for the real Apple product which this is. Arrived in original packaging.
