Tyson Tastemakers, Irish Stout Beef Stew, 36.5 oz

Tyson Tastemakers, Irish Stout Beef Stew, 36.5 oz

The sauce/gravy, in taste and consistency, is perfect and we did not find it too salty. Meat was tender. I made this yesterday, slow cooker method (medium-6 hrs), searing meat and veggies first in the cooker pot as per directions. Next time I want to do it on range, as per directions, to compare. It is pretty amazing and would have taken me trips to grocery (and time) to get all ingredients to achieve this taste. Husband and I don't eat large portions and don't "need" a lot of meat in meals so by doing following steps we are stretching this kit out to two meals: 1) added 2 smallish organic carrots to included veggies, 2) made up a package of Idahodian brand mashed potatoes to mix in with the mashed from included potatoes. I did cut up carrots, onions, and celery a bit more which didn't take much time. We have enough mashed potatoes for husband to snack on today and still have enough for tonight's dinner. Although this may be TMI for some people, many rich, dark sauces/gravies are triggers for my IBS-D. This Irish Stout Beef Stew did not trigger any IBS at all!!!! Amazing taste and so little hassle.

ok, I wanted to give a real genuine review because this offering does deserve it. The first thing I have to say is that it was so delicious. You open the box and you see everything packaged separately. 1. A beautiful, large recipe card for the stew. 2. The package of stew meat. Here was my first concern as it was smaller than I thought it would be. I should have weighed it but my guess would be approximately 10 oz. I was making this for 2 and I don't eat red meat so I knew it would work for us but for two meat eaters, I think this stew would be light on the meat. 2. The package of small yukon gold potatoes. Good quality. I cut them in half and I think there would be enough potatoes for 2. The recipe called to serve the stew over smashed potatoes but I just cut the potatoes in half and added a few halved purple potatoes. 3. The package of veggies which is large pearl onions (really perfect for stew...loved that) and chopped celery and carrots. Definitely not enough carrots. I did love that they included multi-color carrots but I had 4 orange baby carrots, 1 white baby carrot and 1 purple baby carrot. There was no way that would be enough for 2, (especially since I eat only the potatoes and veggies) 4. The package of stout sauce / stock 5. The good size container of garlic butter that they provide for the smashed garlic potatoes.

So, I prepared per the recipe (other than having the potatoes in the stew) and the taste was honestly over-the-top fabulous. The was likely the best stew I have had (including my own Irish Beef Stew, which is pretty darn good). Because of that, I wanted this to have a good review from me but I honestly don't think this enough for two. I think the price should be lower or the quantities of each item larger. Even with that, I might purchase this again because it's so delicious. And I do recommend you try this. I just suggest you have a few potatoes and carrots to add, and be prepared for two bowls to be somewhat light on meat.
So,

I took another reviewers idea and browned the meat and potatoes first. Then, slow cooked it in the crock pot. I added a couple more carrots, potatoes and veges. Not because it needed it but because we love leftovers. Threw all of the browned goodies in the crock pot with the sauce. 5 hours later, ( you could do it in less time, but my hubby wasn't ready to eat) my house smelled amazing in this rainy afternoon.
I took a handful of potatoes out of the pot and mushed them up with the garlic butter. Plated the stew on top of the mashed garlic potatoes. Hubby raved and raved. He loves the gravy! By adding the extra veges, there's enough leftover for tomorrow's two lunches. The only thing I wish I had some fresh warm bread to dip in the gravy. Comfort food on a rainy day.

I actually really like this, but it's way too salty. I added more of my own vegetables and some squash and it cut the saltiness. The good news with adding veggies and some beef stock it turned two meals into about five that weren't too salty (I also cooked it in a crock pot after searing the beef). If there was less saltiness, I'd give it five stars.

I fixed this for dinner this evening. It took a little less than an hour to prepare. I thought it was okay; however, my hubby really liked it! There weren't enough mashed potatoes though for 3 servings. I ended up heating a microwave package of Jasmine white rice for the last serving of stew. It would be helpful if Tyson included a few more potatoes in the kit to cook. I've read some of the other reviews and a few people suggest adding more veggies. If I cook this again, I'll definitely add more veggies as well as some of my own seasonings to give it a little zip.

So easy and delicious! My husband asked me to please make this again! Everything is fresh, prepared and ready to make into a meal. Only note, I would use much less of the garlic butter in the potatoes OR cut up the potatoes and put them in the pot to cook with the veggies and meat. This meal was much easier to make than the Hello Fresh meals I have tried and much tastier!

Here's your "I only leave reviews when it's really good or really bad" take:

I enjoyed this. For me Tastemakers makes it easy to have something freshly cooked, little preparation, without the hassle of going to the grocery store and buying too many ingredients.

The variety of this kit was great! Plenty of beef and veggies - all good quality. The potatoes and stew sauce was outstanding. I really hope this doesn't go the way of most new-to-consumer products and they keep the same standard of quality.

I love this item. I am not a person to review a product but I am in love. Are you a parent that would buy drive through food for your kid everyday if it would not lead to overweight and heart problems? I hate to cook because of the effort. I still have to do homework with my kid when I get off from work. This kit allowed me to make a meal (with out all the cutting and fancy parts) that is good and healthy in 60 min with really only 15 min of me having to stand there. I will being buying more. I wished that there was bigger pieces of meat but this is still so good. Also, a family size needs to be created in the future. I tried other "home delivery" meals and this was the cheapest and easiest. Thanks Amazon for this one.

This meal was not only so simple to make but amazingly delicious. It was enough for two people. I highly recommend. One little mistake, the garlic was not included but I always hve galrlic in the house so I chopped up my own. Try this different but delicious dish.

Delicious, high quality meat & vegetables, the stout was devine. I would say that there are 3-4 servings; though both I and my daughter went back for seconds. Though this may seem high priced at 19 dollars, it isn't when you consider that you would pay the same for a mediocre meal at a fast food place
