Notwithstanding the complaints of others this phone works great out of the box. The handsets are easy to hold, easy to read, and the volume is more than adequate for those whose hearing isn't as good as it used to be (like me). And while this phone system does have a large number of features the paper manual has a well laid out matrix for locating the features you need to set up or access. Now for the two great features I've never had:
1. When you let the answering machine pickup an incoming phone call you don't have to jog to the base station to monitor the message being left by the calling party. You can set up things up so that all remote handsets can monitor the message being left as well.
2. And the most important feature in a world of unwanted, unsolicited and mostly unstoppable robo calls is the BLOCK CALLS feature of this phone system. I've found that the "Do Not Call" list mechanisms provided by the gov't are almost universally ignored by telecall centers. And complaining to the government agencies is even more useless. Before I dropped my Verizon Landline service I could only block 5 telephone numbers and when I switched to my cable provider's phone service I could only block 20. Luckily this phone system allows you to block up to 250 different phone numbers. You can also set the phone to "no ring" when a blocked number is received. My home phone has been blissfully quiet. I only have to add a few new annoying numbers each week. This feature alone is worth the price of the phone.
First, I need to start this review by saying that when it comes to cordless phones, nobody beats Panasonic. I don't work nor am I affiliated with Panasonic. This comes from someone that has been using a multitude of different cordless phones over the past few decades.
For the past two years I have owned Panasonic's TG-5566 5.8 Dect phone with multiple handsets. This was a powerhouse of a cordless phone system complete with a nice color screen and flashing antenna when calls and voicemail arrived.
I wanted to upgrade because the 5.8 phone just wouldn't cover my large property. If I wanted to walk the dog and talk outside, I couldn't because of the lack of range. I couldn't even talk on my deck, located on the opposite end of the house from the base unit.
I was eyeing the TG7875S for a long time, but hesitated to upgrade. First, it had no color screen that I could upload a picture to (my old phone was able to accomplish that). Next, it had no flashing light antenna to indicate new voice messages. Thirdly, reading the Amazon reviews from actual owners, I got the idea that this would be sort of a downgrade to all the "bells and whistles" that Panasonic had put into their older phones.
I am so happy that I took a leap of faith and ordered the KX-TG7875S
Been using it for a week now, and I must say, I love it more than my previous phone system.
First of all, before you even buy the phone it's a good idea to do a Google search for the manual to get an idea of all the things you can do with this phone. That being said, I was a bit fearful of all the menu codes mentioned in the manual that gave a person quick access to primary functions. How in the hell would I remember all these codes? Well, rest assured, everything is easily accessible through the phone's handset navigation screen. Play around with it a little, and you'll find that you can easily access any function of the phone within seconds from the navigation screen.
The best thing about the Dect 6.0 is its range. I get far more range across my property with this phone than I did with the older. However, I still can't get a signal to the far end of the property. That problem was remedied when I purchased the TGA405B range extender. What a remarkable little unit that thing is. It almost doubled the signal and allows me to walk to the edges of my property without any signal loss. I'll talk more about this device again in a moment.
I read complaints about Speakerphone and handset volume. I had none of these issues. Both work well, and there are controls to raise the volume on both. The base unit has a built-in answering machine, but I turned it off since I subscribe to voice mail service. For those subscribers like myself, you will obviously by dismayed by the fact there are no flashing lights to indicate a new voice message is awaiting you, however, a message is clearly displayed across the base and handset that a new voice mail message is waiting.
Link2Cell works wonderfully -- much better than what I was using previously. When I had the older Panasonic phone I bought a xLINK device that would plug into the phone line and pair a cell phone. It was bluetooth based, like the new Link2Cell, but it had very limited range. I was amazed at how much better range the bluetooth coverage is on this phone. It easily linked with my iPhone 6 Plus. The base station is located on a top floor, at the opposite end of a large home. However, upon entering the front door, my iPhone automatically links with the base station. It's incredible, because with the previous device I was using, it would only link up if I was in the adjoining room. So bravo to this unit for its bluetooth range.
So, yes, once you have your cell phone linked up, when that phone rings, so does your Panasonic phone system. Even caller ID from the cell phone is forwarded to the Panasonic display screen. Call quality is very good, but of course, dependent upon how strong your cell phone signal is. I have dead spots in my home so the quality of the calls from my cell phone vary.
What I really love is when someone sends a text message to my iPhone and I get a notification on my Panasonic phone. It's really cool to hear the Panasonic phone ring and a voice say "Text Message."
So, essentially, the Panasonic TG7875S allows you leave your cell phone in its charger and completely forget about it when you are home. Your cell phone calls will be forwarded to the base and handsets. If you get a text message, you will be notified of it.
I knew I didn't need 5 handsets (I actually needed only 4), but I put a spare away just in case one ever fails. The handsets can be customized with individual names such as "Ron Office" or "Living Room." Intercom functionality allows you to call from one handset at one end of the house to another. I also believe (though I have not tested this) that someone can pick up a handset and join someone on another handset in a single call.
Panasonic has introduced two great add-ons to this phone that I think is well worth considering. The first is something I previously mentioned in this review: the TGA405B range extender. It will literally almost double the signal strength of your cordless phone system. So, if you have a large yard and wish to have the ability to walk it and talk it, then this is a must purchase accessory. It costs just under $30. Next, is the TGA20B Key Detector. Clip it on your keychain and use your Panasonic handset to locate your keys if you have misplaced them. The device is nice and small, but my only complaint is that the "chirp" from it could be louder. Thankfully, the Panasonic handset gives you increased/decreased signal strength as you approach (or walk away from) the keys. So even if you can't initially hear the "chirp" of the device the Panasonic phone should be able to guide you there.
I think I have covered everything. Just want to again say that this is a remarkable phone system. With the addition of the range extender and the keychain finder, it becomes an INCREDIBLE phone system. So happy I didn't take the less than stellar reviews to heart and bought this phone system.
I bought this because the Panasonic that I had was 10 years old, and I tried to re-register the phone, but had problems. I looked for a phone with multiple handsets and found that this was the best value for the money.
This phone is sleek and easy to handle. It has many different rings, some even as soft music, so as to wake me up gently. I was able to transfer my contacts from my IPhone to this phone, with very little problem. I found that, after I transferred the numbers, I disconnected the blue tooth and found it easier to use the intercom. Otherwise, you have to go through a series of buttons to get to the intercom feature. The caller id has large print. Also a huge phonebook.
I read where someone had this phone's "CALL BLOCKING" feature but said that it first had to ring to block a call. I found after reading the instructions, that you could program the phone to not sound on the first ring, therefore any callers that are blocked will not go through. You can program the blocked callers or after you get an annoying call, you just set it up to block in the future. This helps cutting down on the annoying calls. It will even disconnect calls that come in as "NAME NOT FOUND".
This is great for anyone trying to keep annoying ROBO CALLS from disturbing you.
This is my second Panasonic Phone set. Both basically the same. My first set which was just like this lasted for about 3-4 years. My second set is replacing the first set as about half of the handsets started having issues, such as when answering the phone the other person on the line couldn't hear me, etc. No charging issues. There were a lot of things I liked about the Panasonic Set and after doing careful research I decided to buy the set again. The pros outweighed the cons in my book. This is one of those purchases you want to buy (not have to return) and be satisfied with from the get go. Though Panasonic has the same set in three different models. My first set was probably the "Good" model and this time I bought the "Best" model (this one). There are slight variations in the handsets but in general it is all the same. Definitely this model is the way to go over the others. The price difference is so minor, but the value in the better system far exceeds the price difference.
What I love about the Panasonic handset is that you don't have to be near a phone to know who is calling. For instance, say you're in the kitchen, you're cooking and can't stop what you're doing to see who is calling, you don't have to as the handset will tell you who it is. And, nine out of 10 times I don't want to take the call. Also, for some reason in my household even though there are 5 handsets, no one can ever seem to find one. You use the phone, put it down and then someone calls and suddenly you are looking for a phone. Well, since the phone tells you who is calling and you can hear where it is coming from it is easy to find a phone if you need to. I have to admit sometimes it is funny to see how the handset pronounces the Caller ID. You get some pretty good laughs. It is entertainment all on its own. Never had an issue with the batteries, nor the handset not being clear. I always use the speaker which the receiving and sending sound is clear.
The phone system is easy to set-up. I am an average person and the phone system was up and operational within minutes. First use after getting the handsets in place they have to charge for 12 hours. After that, you are ready to go.
This is coming from someone that has own many phone systems. ATT, VTech, Radio Shack, and other brands. My first set of this type of model was the first time I purchased anything Panasonic. And this second set is the first-time I ever repurchase the same phone set. This phone system has lasted the longest.
I can, but I don't connect my cell phone to the phone system. It is just my preference not too, but you can do it. I usually do everything from a handset and not the base unit. In fact, in the four years of my first set I think I checked messages maybe once or twice from the base unit. You can do everything you want to do from the handset (any one of the handsets) so it makes it very convenient.
Now you can mute a handset if you want from calling out a Caller ID. This is a down side for me on this phone system as if you have guests and the phone rings your handset is going to say who it is. That could be annoying or considered an interruption. So, just before I mute all the handsets prior. As with a different phone system someone calls, the machine gets it you check it later or glance at the handset. This phone system is vocal, which is great 99% of the time. It is just that 1% and still it wasn't a big enough deterrent to get me to purchase a different brand.
The other issue I have with the phone system is no longer an issue with the new system. I LOVE IT. The old system had a little light (see pictures). It would flicker and have a range similar to a night light. If you have a message and nowadays most my messages are from telemarketers. The handset will flash periodically. Well, not a big deal unless you are in your bedroom sleeping and you have this flashing orange tinted light blinking periodically. It was like a beacon. Of course, if you wanted to move around the house at night, ALL the handsets could light your way as they all blink when there are messages. BUT, NO MORE. This models does not do that which might make it harder to find a phone in the dark, but I will manage.
I purchased these to upgrade BT phones for my home. I love that I can use a phone anywhere in my house while my phone is charging upstairs. This unit came with more than enough phones for each room, and the reception and sound is greatly improved over an older VTech it replaced. You can set specific phones to ring for any of the two bluetooth phone connections.
Be warned: there is a bit of a learning curve, more so than most devices. You have to read the instructions to know how to program, rename, and connect the individual phones and features. To make a call, I had to read the directions before understanding...and I'm a device geek!

I like the look and feel.
The base is very compact, attractive and can be wall mounted.
All of the screens are easy to read.
The sound is crisp and clear.
The intercom feature is fab!
Love that every handset has a headphone port.
The only disappointment I have (and it's a big one) is that there is no dedicated BLOCK button. It takes a LOT of key presses to block a number. Unnecessarily cumbersome process and the reason that I didn't give it 5 stars.
Best review I've read for this product says to look up the user manual before ordering. This thing has a ton of settings. Seriously, a ton. I don't enjoy setting things up but I definitely appreciate the level of customization that you get with this phone. Features like the phonebook are universal. Others, like ringer on/off, audible announcement of incoming calls, volume, speed dial, call monitoring and ringtone preferences can be set individually for each handset. Each handset can connect either when you pick it up or when you press TALK. This is great for my elderly mother who gets confused with buttons and menus. She can use it like an old school landline to receive calls and speed dial takes care of outgoing calls.
The biggest plus for me is that most of the gazillion functions and settings can be accessed via a 3 digit code. I don't like digital menus so I printed a list of the codes I'll use most often. Viola!
Love this. I was always looking for my cell phone or the battery would be dead. I don’t have a land line. I paired this via Bluetooth and now I have a phone in every room. I now hear the phone when it rings as I set it up to ring on every phone. You have the option to choose which phone rings. I like that it plays my personalized rings from my cell phone followed by the talking caller ID from the Panasonic phone. Lots of bells and whistles. Good instruction book for a change. The great part is since they are portable if I mislay one of the phones I can grab another from another room and use it until the mislaid phone makes its appearance. And now my cell phone stays in one location plugged into the charger.
The Panasonic Link2Cell KX-TG7875S DECT 6.0 is a great way to pick up cell phone calls throughout the home. The base has two bright indicators that light up whenever either or both cell phones are connected via Bluetooth -- connections are automatically made as long as your cell phone is within about 20 feet of the base unit, you have Bluetooth turned on, and you selected the DECT source. My cell phone quickly reconnects automatically whenever I return home. You can also use the phones to pick up land line calls, and an answering machine is provided in the base unit for land line calls.
Copying contact information from your cell phone to the handsets only has to be done once using any one of the handsets. Likewise, the handsets all pick up the same date and time that you enter on one handset. The handsets can be individually set for how loud they ring.
The range of these handsets is outstanding. I have the base unit plugged in the middle of my house, and I have no problem picking up cell phone calls with these handsets 150 feet away in my outdoor shed. Everyone I talk to says the sound quality is very good. I have not had dropouts and noise issues. Everything sounds good at my end, too.
You can hear the distinctive ringing sounds of your cell phones on each handset. Notifications of cell phone text messages are announced to each handset in addition to hearing your distinctive cell phone ring on them.
If you want to cut the land line and retain the convenience of multiple portable phones, this is the way to go.
This is my 4th time buying the Panasonic brand phones. I couldn't be happier with this purchase.
Before I go on, I replaced all the OEM batteries with EBL 1100 mAh rechargeables. I've found I get better range as well as longer talk time. I have some Amazon Basics rechargeables in another brand of phones & made a noticeable difference in range, talk time and cleared up the static problem.
If you're having issues with your rechargeable phones, replace the batteries with the best you can afford or able to use elsewhere just in case that doesn't clear up your phone's issues.
I almost bought a different model because I really liked all the features on the model I bought my folks for Christmas. After deciding to try this model since it supposed to pair up with "smart phones". I haven't paired my Galaxy S5 yet & will update my review when I do.
Programming these phones are fairly easy if you've owned the Panasonic brand. The destruction manual is easy to follow. Your menu is different then older phones, Panasonic has gone to a 3 digit code as a way for short cuts I'm guessing. Once you get used to it, it's easy breezy. As an example, say I WANT to BLOCK incoming calls without phone number.
Press {menu}{#} 240
If you keep the destruction manual handy, it will have most of the 3 digital codes to program. You don't necessarily need the manual to program your phone, you can press the menu button at the bottom right of the screen & go fron there. I like to fiddle with things & chose to program my phones this way.
One of the main features of the Panasonic line is
"Call Block" You're able to store & "Block" 250 phone numbers! My last Panasonic only stored 10. You have different options when it comes to setting up your Block Call list, it works great!
Another great feature is talking caller ID, the phone announces who is calling. Of course your able to turn it off.
You can program your phone as an "Alarm" to wake you or program the "Silent Mode" feature.
You can use any of the phones as an "Intercom". Rather then hollering or walking out to the garage, use the "Intercom Feature".
You're also able to set the phone up as a baby monitor, haven't looked or tried the feature yet.
In case of a power outage, a charged handset temporarily supplies power to the base unit. The base unit will not perform any other functions. (hopefully my upgraded batteries will extend the 1.5 hr Panasonic time)
Another feature & I haven't needed to try it yet.
"Noise Reduction " It's supposed to reduce noise depending upon your environment. You can also use the phones" Handset Equalizer" to further clarify the voice of the caller.
The answering machine and settings are a breeze using the 3 digital command code or fiddling with.
My last phones were quite frustrating to rest on my shoulder & yap for long. I'd either hang up accidentally or drop the phone. I don't recall how many phones that have been broken after hitting the tile or the garage floor. They're a tad small and weren't designed to be rested on your shoulder while talking.
The KX-TG7875S handsets are much larger & easy to rest on my shoulder while talking. All incoming voices are crystal clear and sounds like we could be talking from next door. I've had callers that have brought up the difference in clarity.
No doubt having the latest technology might have something to do with it. I didn't think technology would make as big difference as it did.
My only real complaint with the KX-TG7875S is not having single button access to "Block Callers". If I want to "Block" an incoming call without hearing it ring{say it's a new Robo call} I should be able to push the "Block Call" button & be done with it like other models, rather then entering the 3 digital command code or waiting for the call to end & manually entering it.
Would I recommend this model to others? Yes, this is a great phone system for the money. As mentioned I'll update when I get my Galaxy S5 paired up.
We purchased this several months ago to replace a similar phone (with the additional handsets that plug into the wall but don't need to connect to the phone jack, as well as the main base having speakerphone, etc). The range on these phones seems to be decent - though with 5 handsets, there isn't much of a need to go too far with any single phone. The best part of this is that when I walk in the door, my cell phone is automatically connected. So if my cell phone is on the charger in my bedroom and starts ringing, normally I wouldn't know this. Now, it rings through the house and speaks out the callers number just like it would for an incoming call from our landline. You have the option to have this phone ring each time you get a text notification. I ended up turning that feature off because it got really annoying if I got a text in the middle of the night or was in a text conversation with someone.
The ringer volume is loud at the highest setting (having a parent that has hearing loss/partial deafness has made me very aware of this need on a phone - I think he'd be able to hear it fine).
I was a bit surprised that I actually had to read the manual to link my cell phone. I figured it would be a bit more intuitive. You can customize the ringer to know if it's a landline call, cell phone call, etc. My husband still hasn't linked his phone to it (not sure why). Otherwise, this phone has been great! Very pleased with our purchase!
