BOSS Audio CH6530 Car Speakers - 300 Watts of Power Per Pair and 150 Watts Each, 6.5 Inch, Full Range, 3 Way, Sold in Pairs, Easy Mounting

Used these to replace the factory speakers in my 2008 Chevrolet Silverado. They work great a day seem to be good quality. The ole work truck is now a beats lab and the envy of the neighborhood ruffians who blast their Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer all day.

Price was half what I could buy the speakers locally. They arrived quickly and installed easily into my HHR. They sound good and have been in for almost a month. The speakers get a little fuzzy at high sound levels, but much higher than average listening levels. All four door speakers in the car have died. I thought it was the radio, but NO - Chevy speakers suck. I'm buying 2 more to replace the rear dead factory ones.

Installed in a 2008 Smart ForTwo.

Ripped the old ones out of the doors with a small hammer, used a utility knife to carve away the factory speaker tabs & screwed these into place in less than 20 total minutes. Wasn't expecting audiophile quality, but for $12; these sound fckn AWESOME.

Nice speakers for the price BUT ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO A DIRECT FIT for the front speakers on a 2001 Honda Civic as the add suggests. I had to order some 'adapter ring' from another vendor and still drill new screw locations. PITA that I happily would have paid extra to avoid if I knew ahead of time. Sounded much better than factory speakers once all was said and done.

These speakers perform very well for their size. They mount easily, are packed securely, and have an appealing look in my opinion. In a direct replacement of my factory speakers, they were an easy swap as I also purchased connector adapters for my GM vehicle. It took longer to open door panels and get access to the blown speakers than it did to do the swap. Once installed and connected, these speakers have a very good capability and sound very good. Actually, I couldn't believe how low the price was; I was able to replace all four speakers for the price of two other speakers. I do not have an opinion of durability as I have only had these speakers a few weeks.

Description

Boss Audio CH6530 Chaos Series 6.5" 3-way Speaker

Just make sure you get the right wiring harness and install kit for your car and this will go off without a hitch. The reason for the star deduction, I actually would give it 3 1/2 if I could, was more for the operation of the radio.
The good:
The radio fired right up with no issues the sound was good and all the prompts worked. Once I got the wiring right, not the radios fault, the backup camera worked great.
The not great:
The response of the touchscreen was a little slow, also the CD/DVD player won't eject the disk without prying the slit open a little. It seems to get stuck at the top. The hands-free isn't really, because there is no voice calling that I could find. You can talk through the radio, but it does sound a little distant, but not to bad.
Overall this is perfect for the older truck I put it in. The main reason was for the safety of the backup camera and the ability to talk on the phone hands-free. These options work so objective complete. I do wish you could voice calling.

I do not receive any deal once so ever I am a normal paying customer so I earn nothing from my reviews and I am always brutally honest...

Great stereo realized it had back up camera capability so I also ordered one of those after it came. If you know how to install stereos to your car your self then you can say it's easy instal with some level of preexisting skills sets. Great visual display dimmable lights, blue tooth works great and during calls your caller can hear you perfectly no distortion. Safe to say I recommend this device.

Unit met all of my expectations. Was able to fit it in my vehicle (2003 Nissan Frontier) using the OEM radio bracket/mount and without modifying dash face trim. Slight gap at bottom of unit but not visible. Purchased Metra wiring harness for installation. I would have given it 5 stars however, instructions for wiring backup camera (i.e. where to connect purple back up camera wire) were not clear at all. A more "robust" wiring diagram would have been helpful. In case anyone else has the same issue, the purple camera "trigger" wire needs to be connected to + side of backup/reverse light on vehicle. Once I did this, camera was engaged when vehicle was put in reverse. All of the other features seem to work well. I have not had a chance to test out quality of Bluetooth hands-free phone feature as it relates to call quality and microphone level.
Update 5/29/2017 - Have now had time to use hands-free phone features and it works perfectly. Easily paired with my phone, call quality is great and microphone level was spot on. I am now going to add a universal steering wheel controller. Overall, I'm very pleased with the BOSS BV9358B and am looking at purchasing a second one for my wife's 99' Honda Passport.

I installed this in a 2006 Saturn Vue - replaced the stock double-DIN radio. I was looking for something with a display screen that would work with my backup camera, and this fit the bill.

First thing I'd suggest is that if you are installing this yourself, and don't do it for a living, get the correct accessories for your particular vehicle.

In my case, I contacted Scosche.com (they sell antenna cable adapters, mounting frames, wiring harness adapters). I couldn't find the correct one on their website, so I chatted with support. I was told to get a particular antenna adapter, but it was the wrong one, ended up purchasing locally at a car stereo install shop. Also got the mounting frame there.

Once I had all that, I began the install. Taking the old radio out seems to start with removing the back bumper! Well, not that bad, but on a Saturn Vue, you have to remove the bezel around the stick shift, disconnect the cables, unscrew 4 screws, two of which are about an inch past the end of your fingers, and if you drop one you'll never see it again, then YANK WITH ALL YOUR MIGHT on the bezel around the radio (center console). If it makes a noise like it's going to explode into a million pieces, you're good! You'll also need to bend your arm in 3 places to remove the cables from the center console. Now that you've accomplished that, removing the old radio is a matter of unscrewing 4 screws and sliding it out.

First thing I noticed is that there's a plastic panel behind the back of the stock radio. There are some holes cut in it for the stock radio cables, but they don't line up with the RCA connectors on the BOSS radio. Had to hold a piece of wood behind the plastic (with my arm bent in 4 places) while drilling a succession of holes to make a larger opening for the RCA cables, including the one for input from the backup camera. I managed to do that without drilling a hole in my hand or the critical cabling behind the radio. Also, there's a pre-drilled hole for a rubber piece that stabilizes the back side of the stock radio. Only problem with the BOSS radio is that its rubber piece is off by an inch to the northwest. Had to drill another 1/2" hole for that.

I wanted to retain the stock wiring harness connectors, in case I ever sell this vehicle and decide to keep the BOSS for another car. I couldn't get the proper wiring harness converter in time, so I tapped the existing wires to the harness that came with the unit. If you use "T-Taps" be sure to crimp them correctly, I guess I didn't do so connecting the front-left speaker. I re=crimped it, and all was well.

My old display for my backup camera (from a previous vehicle) automatically sensed that a video signal was present, and if the display was powered on, it would switch to the backup camera video feed. Not so with the BOSS -- you have to run another cable that provides 12 volts from the backup lights. In the Saturn, you have two choices to find that - all the way in the back of the car on the backup light, or under the car on the transmission where the actual backup switch lives. BOSS also decided to provide that connection in a wire that just comes out of the back of the unit, not on the wiring harness. If you go this route, I suggest purchasing some male-female spade lugs so you can disconnect it without cutting wires. There are two more wires/cables coming out of this area, one for a "parking brake" signal that will keep you from watching DVDs while driving, and another one that connects to a magic box that will make the buttons on the steering wheel work with the unit. Since I couldn't find the parking brake switch wire, I just connected that wire to the ground frame of the unit. I won't be watching DVDs on the thing while driving anyway, probably won't EVER watch a DVD on it.

Here are my impressions, once I got it installed:

Pros:
* Worked right off the bat with my phone via bluetooth. I haven't tried streaming from the phone, but making and receiving calls works fine.
* Sounded fine with the stock speakers in the Vue. It has a pretty extensive graphic equalizer and balance/fade control that let me center the sound on the driver's seat (I'm usually the only one in the car) and compensate for the frequency range of the speaker system.
* The user interface isn't TOO bad -- but, more on that below.
* Played an old CD-RW I made years ago with a couple of hundred MP3s on it - I've got quite a few and was hoping they'd be recognized.

Cons:
* The "home" page on the user interface has enough room for the 9 options, but, for some reason, the BOSS programmers thought they'd take up the top half of the screen with the current time and make you scroll through 2 pages to see all the buttons. Since I don't have the backup signal wire connected yet, it takes 3 button presses or screen taps to get to the backup camera.
* When the backup camera is selected, it quits playing whatever you're listening to. You have to press 3 more times to get back to the CD player, and it has to re-read the entire CD directory before it resumes the song you were on. It *should* be able to keep playing while you're checking the backup camera.
* The user's manual is written in some kind of Google-translated Chinese to English. BOSS seems to have native English speakers updating its website, you'd think they'd have native English speakers to rewrite their manuals. Here's an example for the radio scan function: "Touch this button can scan the stations from 1-6..." More an annoyance than anything.
* Hands-free microphone - It's a tiny hole next to the slot for the CD/DVD. There is no provision for an external mic. Folks I've called say it sounds like I'm in a tunnel. There doesn't seem to be any place in the setup menus to increase the sensitivity of the mic. If you plan on making calls while on a road trip, this might not be the unit for you.

I've only had this in the car for a day, so I may discover other pros/cons as I live with it for a while. I'll update this review if anything new pops up.

I gave it 3 stars, mostly because of the weak microphone and the delay switching to/from the backup camera. One would think that the software would already have the contents of the CD scanned and saved in memory, and be able to detect that the disk had not been changed. but it doesn't. It shouldn't need to re-scan the disk, and it should be able to continue playing music while in backup mode. It may be that when it senses the backup camera signal, it DOESN'T stop playing, but I won't know for sure until I get that connected.

This was a nice upgrade from another cheapy touch screen I had installed in my 2006 tundra. So the install was pretty smooth and just needed to match colors of wires from previous install. The sound quality was much better then stock or previous stereo installed which surprised me. My only complaint about the stereo is the volume control is slow to respond or delays. It might be more specific to my stereo but i find the remote is easier to use to change the volume level. Great value from the other name brands.
