ANCIENT ORGANICS 100% Organic Ghee from Grass-fed Cows, 8oz

ANCIENT ORGANICS 100% Organic Ghee from Grass-fed Cows, 8oz

I started the ketogenic diet a while back and I’ve been slowly getting into different fats. I started trying ghee a month ago and I was really confused. Everyone said it tasted so wonderful, yet I bought three jars and they really had no taste. I decided to try one more time and I ordered an 8 oz. jar of Ancient Organics ghee. When I opened the jar I knew it was different. It smells like caramel! I tried a little bit straight out of the jar and it had the perfect, nutty, brown butter taste I’d been expecting all along. The jar didn’t last a week and I’m waiting for the 36 oz. jar I ordered to arrive. Excellent, super tasty way to get in the necessary fats for a keto dieter.

I had been using unsalted grass fed butter in my morning coffee and thought I'd try switching things up and I also wanted to cut back on my dairy consumption. I could not imagine that my coffee could taste any better than it does with the butter, but it does! This ghee has a lovely note of caramel and I have to say that it really enhances my morning brew! I've also been known to sneak a little bit of ghee after dinner to satisfy my sweet tooth. It's lightly sweet , creamy, caramel tasting and has a great mouth feel! I'm on my second jar since February, I'm addicted. It's. That. Good.

If you want to eat a good fat, here is a good substitute for butter. Ghee is clarified butter, and it is supposed to be very good for you. It is also great for cooking and does not easily burn. Ghee is also said to have medicinal properties as well. I have made ghee before with unsalted organic butter. Mine has a stronger taste. This brand is milder but nice. This was a bit pricey, but I thought I would give it a try. It is well worth the price.

Ghee contains vitamins A, D, E and K as well as Omega 3 and Omega 9. It is supposed to be good for digestion and elimination, as well as your skin, eyes and joints. This organic ghee is especially good, since the cows have been free-ranging in the pasture. The ghee contains many vital minerals and antioxidants as well as conjugated linoleic acid.

You can store this in your cupboard for a couple of months or so. Then it is a good idea to put it in the refrigerator. It is really handy to have a jar of ghee in your kitchen.

This ghee is delicious. I had never tried ghee before, so I bought it here based upon the reviews, and was immediately impressed. When I ran out, I thought I could just buy any ghee at WalMart, but boy was I disappointed. All ghee is not made the same and this is SUPERIOR in both texture and flavor and smells amazing. I've reordered several times and will continue to do so. It is worth the expense, and the heavy jar and Ancient Organics packaging are proof of their attention to detail and how much care they put into their product.

First ghee I've ever had, so I can't compare it to the others on the market. I just got through with being dairy free for about 3 years, and in that time ghee has become popular, so I thought why not. If you are more culinary driven than diet driven, this will not completely replace butter. Butter has a slightly sweet taste whereas this is nutty and almost like what kettle corn tastes like (not as strong as caramel). I'd buy this brand again.

Update: I've rebought and tried to buy even more because it turns out I'm consuming a lot of ghee, but this company seems to have a supply issue. It stinks that it costs more because you had to pay shipping where with Pure Indian Foods, it's free shipping. But now it seems like it's only available through third party sellers who are price gouging and I'm not buying it that way. I'm keeping my eyes on this so I can get it again when I have a real chance and not a price gouging chance. So now I'm going back and forth between Urban Gita and Pure Indian Foods ghee, neither of which are as good as this. But I'm not paying 30 bucks for a small container of ghee.

This ghee is wonderful! It taste like a Werther’s candy to me. The texture is heavenly as well. I use it in my coffee and have even used it on my toast. It’s expensive but worth it IMO. Great fats and good vitamins including vitamin K2 which is a soft tissue decalcifiyer. Great for decalcifiying the ol third eye (pineal gland). I’ve ordered it several times and just know moved up to the 16oz because the 8oz is short lived in my house.

Where do I begin? I did not like my first taste at all, lol. But, I decided to give it a fair tryout. Used it in baking, for pan cooking, and even on toast. It grew on me and now, I find myself reaching for this instead of other fats for a number of things, it melts beautifully on toast and has a distinctive sweet taste to me. This is second purchase for me, but will not be the last. So flavorful and adds great taste to lentils, beans, you name it.

Normally I don't write product reviews, but this product really impressed me, so here's my take.

This is the first Ghee I've tried so I can't compare it to other products, but I'm glad I ordered it. I use it for cooking as well as eat it raw for breakfast. Unlike grassfed butter that I was used to, this ghee has not caused my brain to feel foggy, and has been superb as a part of a ketogenic diet I go on when I need to maintain focus for long periods of time with a steady stream of energy.

One unexpected plus is that I'm able to eat it without the gag reflex I normally get from straight coconut oil and without the digestive discomfort I get from MCT oil. I've never felt sick from eating this, and I adjusted to the flavor relatively quickly.

Due to the high price I still mainly use coconut oil for cooking, though I still think the flavor of this ghee is outstanding. I enjoy being able to cook at high temperatures with it without worrying about it burning. Also, when cold, it's softer than the various brands of coconut oil I've tried, making it easier to scoop; on the other hand, when it's room temperature, it doesn't melt, so I don't need to worry about spilling it.

I highly recommend this to anyone who appreciates healthy oils. The only downside I can think of is its high cost, which I think is reasonable given the ingredients and processes used to produce it.

This is an excellent high-quality organic ghee made from grass-fed dairy in California. The texture initially felt slightly gritty but then melted beautifully on the tongue straight out of the jar with no unpleasant texture. The aroma was distinctly caramel, butterscotch and the flavor was rich, buttery and slightly nutty. It's excellent for cooking eggs, sauteeing greens like kale or chard, or eaten straight out of the jar as a treat (don't knock it till you try it). I haven't tried any sweet applications but I imagine it would be equally wonderful (sweet potato caramel is first on my list of dessert recipes to try with this ghee).

Wildly better than Purity Farms ghee, which had an odd slightly plastic-y cheesy odor and waxy texture.

The glass jars are well-packaged for shipping and the customer service is excellent; I especially enjoyed the handwritten note and informative brochure. I purchased an 8oz jar and now I'm kicking myself for not buying a larger one; they're available in three different sizes (8, 16, and 32 ounces). As soon as I run out, I'm going all in for the 32 oz jar!

I have been trying the some of the numerous Ghee's that are available on Amazon and Ancient Organics Ghee is by far and away the best flavor, consistently good quality of all the others that I have tried. Most other Ghee's are very strong in flavor almost like the phony butter oil that you use on popcorn. Ancient Organics is not the cheapest, but it is the best. Ghee can be used in anything that requires butter. It does not contain salt. I use it on garlic bread, sautéing vegetables, frying eggs, etc. Since it is clarified butter, you find that you do not need as much when you use it. A little bit goes a long way.
