For the purposes of calibration, we normally drink Starbucks Breakfast Blend. Yeah, yeah, I know. Haters gonna hate. But that's what we like. Full flavor with no bitterness.
For further calibration, we think that Starbucks House Blend is bitter, although it does have a bold flavor.
We've been looking for a less expensive alternative, however.
We tried McCafe Breakfast Blend and I really liked it (no bitterness, good flavor, although it could be more bold). My husband thought it wasn't flavorful enough, however.
This time we tried the McCafe Premium Roast and, as Goldilocks would say, "This one is just right."
It's half the price of Starbucks, has no bitterness, and the flavor is pleasing to both of us.
This morning, my husband said, "Yeah, I can drink this. This'll work." (For him, that's like doing a cartwheel.)
If your taste for coffee is similar to ours you'll be well pleased by the McCafe Premium Roast.
Seems like many people have had problems with this coffee.
Some had coffee that had expired. Not me, mine is good until June of this year. (I did notice that the people with expired coffee had a K-Cup that was textured. Mine are smooth, with the expiration date on the outside of the box.)
Some had grounds in their coffee: I've almost finished my case of 84 and that has not happened a single time.
Some had "weak" coffee. Well, one person's strong is another person's weak. I've been totally satisfied with the taste of this product, smooth with no bitterness.
So, I got a good cup of coffee at a great price, I've never had grounds in my cup, and I'll finish the box months before the expiration date. What more could I ask for? I am very happy with my McCafe and will definitely purchase it again.
Great coffee! I was hesitant to order and very worried about some of the reviews that stated the product came expired or tasted off, but my box came with an expiration date several months out in a sealed box with the McCafe ad printed on it. I was worried about the other reviews that said there were lines in the cups they received which wouldn’t work with the Kuerig machine, but my order came without the lines and works perfectly. Tastes like McDonalds coffee and I highly recommend based on price, speed of shipping and quality. This was my first order, hopefully, all of the orders come the same.
McCafé Premium Roast is a medium roast coffee for the Keurig machine, and it has quickly become one of my favorites. What I like most about it is that it tastes very close to the coffee you get at the local McDonald's. Too often I buy a blend that tastes like a weaker cousin of the blend it is supposed to be. McCafé Premium Roast doesn't have this problem. When brewed at the 8 ounce setting, it isn't weak and tastes like what McCafe coffee should taste like. At its current price of around $35, the 84 count box works out to about 42 cents per cup which a great deal for K-Cup coffee that I actually enjoy. I will definitely be buying more of it.
I don't usually go for a product so branded like MCDonalds.
But in my surprise this is actually and excellent cup of coffee that comes out of a K-Cup
The roast is good and the body is rich.
It is a little bitter and doesn't quite give the experience of a premium roast that one would want.
When you understand that this coffee only take 30 seconds it makes the slight flavor imperfection completely acceptable.
I have converted my home to a Keurig and Nespresso machine to get the bet of both worlds.

Every week ever since we bought our Keurigs we buy different flavor k-cups from grocery stores, 12-packs. I haven't tried all of them but definitely a lot, maybe 50 different brand/flavours by now, maybe more, never counted. Green Mountian, Illy, Starbucks, Gevalia, Donut Shop, Peets, Krispy Kreme, Kroger, Private Selection and a whole bunch of others... my favorite for taste has always been McCafe. I try to vary tastes and flavors and roast (light to french) but nothing just comes close to this. It's so incredibly full (I never understood this word in relation to coffee until I tried McCafe) and so... right. It's the kind of coffee you'll be served at some mom'n'pop's little restaurant. Something that will just be nice to drink and will never disappoint. It won't have any fancy "overtones", it's just a great, great simple coffee. Smell great, tastes absolutely incredible.
The McCafe label can be offputting since it's not a premium coffee brand and it can be hard to disassociate this from notorious McDonalds junk foods but this coffee has nothing to do with burgers and french fries. They found an absolute perfect blend of coffee in the whole world.
The decaf version is just as good and I always have a 84-pack of both. I still try other k-cups just for a change, but no other brand/roast was great enough to make me want to buy them again.
Our Cuisinart K-cup machine has a reusable pod that you fill with regular ground coffee. That method is cheaper and less wasteful than actual k-cups. However, if i’m in a hurry, I like to use these McD’s k-cups.
Nice smooth flavor. Less bitter than Starbucks. (Although I sometimes prefer the bitter.)
Recommended.
I don't know if this coffee has anything to do with McDonalds, other than using the name. In my opinion it's not identical to the coffee served in the restaurants, which I believe is the best coffee you can buy in a restaurant. But, it is good, very good in fact. Because I bought an 84 pack with the k-cups loose in a fairly large carton, rather than in packs of 12 or 18. I got this for a little under $40 or 48 cents per cup. It is available now for around $48 or around 57 cents per cup; still a great buy. I will definitely buy it again.
I was so ready to ditch my Keurig because no matter what I used, the coffee was just not tasting right. When I tried these I immediately noticed the difference and they truly do make an exceptional cup of coffee. I would highly recommend these for the Keurig as the coffee tastes great.
After reading the comments I decided to take the risk and order these - luckily Igot my pods in an authentic McCafe box with 84 k-cups inside in prestine condition. The coffee is surprisingly good! I'm a liittle weary about ordering a second box since a lot of people are complaining about getting old k-cups in a generic brown box, but we'll see.
