I love convenience and I love milk. This product allows me to drink milk on occasion without waste. I can never finish a carton of the white stuff so these individually wrapped pouches are perfect.
Some say they can taste the carton. I'm not a supertaster but it tastes like cow milk to me. Some are worried about a perishable product being left refrigerated but believe science, it's safe. Some got product that was about the expire. Luckily for me, my box of milk has an expiration date several months from now.
As I have said in other reviews, I enjoy eating healthier yet have little time to eat at work. I have been trying to move myself away from fattier, oily snacks during my day and sugary sweet drinks to wash them down. I thought Sun-Chips were pretty good, and buying chocolate milk from the Cafeteria filled it in. I wanted to do better, though. I have now been drinking a lot of Vita Coco to help fill the void, but it can be so expensive and sources which are decently-priced are endangered. This was a questionable purchase at first, since I have been drinking skim milk for 15 years now, so I am used to and prefer the cold, crisp, lighter flavor. I am glad I went for it!
Pros
-Love the packaging! Does seem to keep flavor better than traditional small milk cartons.
-Smooth and rich flavoring. Chocolate is richer in flavor than vanilla. My wife says the vanilla has an after-taste, but I disagree. So it is apparently subjective. I have yet to try the strawberry, but if I were a betting man, I would say the same is true for it.
-Better sugar and fat contents than generic milk packages. I have read other reviews that criticize this, but I am not sure what they have been drinking instead. All regular milk has sugar. It is really not that much.
Cons
-You might be of those who think the sugar content is too high.
-The flavor is different than any I had had before. Any new flavor can be a tough adjustment. Sometimes, that adjustment never completes (I think this one is worth it, but I adjusted very quickly).
I buy Horizon milk all the time, so I know what the non-aseptic stuff is like. I typically buy low- or non-fat milk from this same company to use for cereal and coffee. I love the idea of this product, love how you can just carry one of the cute little cartons with you, and I've thus far been using it to lighten my coffee at work, which it does remarkably well. Also, I have one of those little frothers to make my coffee drinks look all Starbucks-y, and this milk froths up nicely whether it's cold or room temp.
My only real complaint (above the fact that it's a wee bit pricey) is that the taste is not the same as the typical refrigerated Horizon milk. This one tastes a little bit like evaporated milk. I don't really mind that overmuch; I grew up using evap milk in my coffee. But it's not what I expected.
I have to admit that at first I felt like I was just paying a premium for the word "organic." However, upon actually drinking the product and seeing the longer shelf life I realized that the nominal amount I paid was well worth it.
Pros
The milk tastes fresher and smoother than regular non-organic milk.
The shelf life is almost 2 months longer than regular non-organic milk & does not require refrigeration until you want to drink it (recommended but not required) or after you've open it.
The container is portable and keeps milk cool long after you take it out of the fridge.
Con
It does cost more than non-organic milk.
It is probably less expensive to buy the Horizon brand gallon sized milk at the store.
This product has truly become a time saver for us. There are several reasons that I really like this product. The first is the taste - just a great tasting milk that goes well on its own or with cereal. I also love its long shelf life - for milk anyway. It doesn't have to be refrigerated until opened, but it taste best cold. It is very portable and having its own straw means little to no mess. That makes having a healthy snack for kids on the go something that can actually be accomplished. The price is fair, especially when purchasing through the subscribe and save program. We try to make sure to always have some available and it has saved me a couple of times when I ran out of a gallon of milk.

Description
Great for lunchboxes, snacks, travel and more, our shelf-stable milk boxes are a perfect alternative to juice boxes.
My 14 month old would NOT drink milk. Anytime I tried, he would gag...and sometimes even throw up. He is a breastfed baby, so I believe that turned him off to the very UN-sweet taste of regular milk. I tried mixing chocolate, strawberry....tried regular milk (although I am happy he did not like that because I would rather he drink organic!), organic, soy....everything! Stumbled upon these little cartons and figured I would give it a shot. He LOVES it. It is the ONLY milk he will drink - maybe it is as close to breast milk as it gets? I am slowly mixing the regular Horizon Organic milk, we will see what happens!
My husband and I have a terrible habit of letting milk go bad so we don't buy it anymore unless we need it for something specific in the next 24 hours. As a result, we often end up with boxes of cereal we can't eat and Mac & Cheese we can't make.
We tried buying the powdered milk, but could never get the consistency right for drinking so we only use it for baking. My husband likes Silk soy milk, but I've never been a huge fan. On a whim, I typed "Milk" into the Amazon search and this product popped up in several varieties. I had never heard of milk that didn't need to be refrigerated and had a shelf life of a year. I had to try it.
I bought the white milk and the chocolate milk, that comes in handy for those midnight chocolate cravings! The chocolate milk is pretty tasty. It doesn't taste exactly like the Nestle or Oak Farms chocolate milk I'm used to. It doesn't seem as rich, but it was an easily acclimated taste. I've used the white milk on Frosted Flakes and to make Kraft Mac & Cheese so far with great results. The mac & cheese had a nice tang to it.
If you are used to drinking Organic, Reduced Fat Milk, this product will probably taste no different to you. If you don't usually drink this type of product, there is a slight taste variation, but is quickly overlooked.
It is a bit more expensive buying milk this way, but if you are anything like we are, the added expense is worth it for the convenience of always having unspoiled milk available and being able to grab one on the go. We've probably thrown away hundreds of dollars of spoiled milk over the years.
We also buy the single serving cereal bowls and these milks are the perfect size to fill the bowl at the office.

We love being able to offer our young child milk on the go instead of juice or other sugary drinks. We love these individual milk boxes and the fact that they don't have to be refrigerated (although they can be). They are easy to open for small hands and can be used with a straw (attached) or by pulling back a tab to make a drink spout. This case is great for purchasing them in bulk and having a few stored in several different places.
This is the most delicious milk. It tastes like drinking the best vanilla pudding you ever had, but not too sweet. It has a very strong vanilla flavor. While it seems to be mostly marketed as a children's drink, we use it as a drink mixer with amaretto and it is wonderful. It was a great improvement to regular amaretto and milk. I'm sure it would be wonderful to substitute for regular milk in baking or in egg creams. The expiration on our last case was about 3-4 months, so it lasts a lot longer than regular milk.
Having lived in Europe for quite some time I desperately missed my shelf stabilized milk. It actually is slightly sweeter than regular milk but with the same sugar content. The small containers are perfect for having around the house especially in case you run out of traditional milk.
