Garmin vívofit jr, Kids Fitness/Activity Tracker, 1year Battery Life, Green, Digi Camo

Garmin vívofit jr, Kids Fitness/Activity Tracker, 1year Battery Life, Green, Digi Camo

For a while my 9 year old daughter had been wearing a regular adult Garmin tracker and it was comically big on her wrist. It's great that Garmin has put out a JR version of their tracker, and it's more than just smaller.

Garmin vivofit JR provides a lot of features which are easily accessed through a single function button. Perhaps MOST importantly it actually tells the time. There are so many fitness trackers out there which don't seem to care about the time! It also has: a stop watch, a chore tracker, task timers (like for brushing your teeth), minutes active tracking, step tracking, and a coin system for doing chores.

All this is linked to a parent controlled app which was very easy to set up and get working. The band is well sized for our 9 year old and the tracker is water proof. It's great to see a company tailor their product for kids and not just re-size it, but customize the whole experience (including being able to have your kids name on the time!).

My daughter loves it, and it motivates her to keep moving.

I bought this for my 8 year old's birthday two weeks ago. The Garmin Vivofit Jr. is more amazing then I expected! The day after her birthday, I was ordering a Vivofit Jr. for my 5 and 10 year old children.

Each child is really into all the functions, steps taken, daily activity time, chores complete, coins received, the timers and stop watch. Before bed, my children like to read the trail, the next clue or animal. We have sat down as a family to design rewards. On Fridays, if they have earned enough coins, they can receive their allowance or bank coins for other rewards.

My five year old is learning higher numbers and reading time. My 8 and 10 year old have asked to use the treadmilll (rainy days) or go for bike rides to meet daily goals. They are really excited when they have doubled, even tripled, their daily activity goals. Their chores are done quicker (and correct), they are asking for more ways to help around the house.

As a teacher, best educational practice is to have students set their own goals and identify their consequences (positive and negative). The Vivofit Jr. allows us to do this with easy management and quick feedback. I wish there was an immediate, affordable system for tracking positive behavior like this which I could use in school with my students.

When my mom friends and teacher friends have seen the watches and the app, they have purchased Vivofit Jrs. for their children. My children's friends are asking their parents for ones.

It is great the Vivofit Jr. fits bands for the Vivofit 3. As they get older it will not look childish with a replacement band.

I write very few reviews. This is such a cool product with useful, practical functions, I needed to write a review.

This has been THE BEST addition to our home this year. I was a little hesitant to purchase these watches. When a friend told me her kids still loved their watches after 2 months, I went ahead and got them for my own kiddos. It's been wonderful. My kids now compete to earn points by doing chores etc. They beg for more chores or tasks to do when they are close to hitting a point goal. I love that it's controlled by an app on my phone, and that I can edit the rewards and chores. My kids love the timers for brushing teeth and cleaning, the piggy bank on the watch that tells you how many coins you have earned, and competing with each other to climb the trail if they hit 60 minutes of activity each day. I love that you don't have to charge this watch, and that it's completely water proof. It survived beach trips and a summer in the pool. We have had ours about 6 months and have had no issues.

This watch does have it all. It's a must for parents with little ones. I even have parents of my school students get them and we work together to reward effort in class. I can't say enough positive things about this watch.

My 10 year old son loves this thing. I was hesitant to purchase because I felt it was very expensive for a child. I love the free app that allows us to track his progress as well as establish chores and rewards. Makes it a little easier to get some help around the house lol. I'd highly recommend this product to anyone with a smaller child. Its water resistant, he never takes it off.

We love these vivofit Jrs. I got refurbished ones for each of my kids. I had to get another band for my older boy because this one was a little small on him. We had tried another brand before and we are sold on these because:
1. No Recharging! The battery is supposed to be good for about a year. So far after several months, they are going strong.
2. Active minute tracking, step tracking, and sleep tracking! My kids love the active minute tracking especially because it is like my husband’s Apple Watch “rings” that he is always trying to close. I’m even buying the vivofit 3 so that i can have ring tracking too. I love the sleep tracking because when someone is crabby, i can look and see....”oh! You woke up earlier than usual today!”.
3. Website with chore and coin tracking is pretty cool. We don’t use this as consistently though.
4. The kids don’t have to take them off when they shower or swim which means they don’t have a chance to forget to put it back on.
5. I love that you can have multiple vivofit jrs syncing with 1 iPhone. When i had gotten the kids another brand, i had to set up one to sync with my phone and one to sync with my husbands. It was a pain.

Cons:
1. My older boy doesn’t like the animal on the steps page. Wish there was a blank function
2. Wish there was a blank function for the name.
3. We have had a handful of syncing issues but i think that is also a fault of my ancient phone.
4. My kids are a little impatient when it comes to the chore tracking and coins. They want to see it instantly reflected on their vivofit jr after i add them to the app. I wish there was a way to trigger the devices to sync from just the phone.

Best thing ever, and I am 35 years old. My wrist is small enough for me to squeeze this thing in. Then it has been a breeze. I have tried all the fancy ones believe me. Finally settled with this one because - Not needing to charge for a year, Not having to remove for shower and followed by the usual forgetting to put it back on, Not worrying about the charger getting packed while traveling, was waaaaay better deal than having a fancy one with a lot of maintenance. If you have a small wrist (bone structure) like I do, you should give this a try regardless of your age. I am 5 7" 118 lb, runner, travel much.

I'm pleased with the purchase. The first priority was a watch, but the fitness tracker upped the cool factor. Our 10yo daughter has been motivated by her tracker and is definitely moving more. The timer feature has been very handy, her orthodontist wants her brushing 5 minutes after eating. The chores aren't hugely motivating, but she does appreciate hearing the ding as coins are added to her account. I especially like the fact that the vivofit doesn't need to be charged routinely, that's just not likely to happen regularly unless I intervene. I would definitely recommend this tracker. I do sometimes question the accuracy of the activity tracker portion, but it's good enough for a child.

Fantastic product! Within a day my kids' activity levels have increased 1000% because they have a goal to meet. They have to earn tablet time which has been a constant battle (with us adults usually giving in). I bought this one for my 11 year old and the only complaint was that the band was too small. I found another company that sold replacement bands and it fit right in.

You must get this for your child! This is been such a motivator for my child. Are used to have to ask her 10 times to do something. Now she is excited to do chores and rushes to do them just so she can get her points. We have contest to see who walked the most steps. It motivates her and it motivates me.

I bought these for my children (this one for my daughter) for Christmas. They were very pleased to receive them. The set-up was fairly easy and my daughter enjoyed being able to customize both the face of the watch and the screen for the app. We haven’t had time to go through all the features yet, there is a bit of a learning curve IMO. However, the kiddos are enjoying the ability to ‘compete’ with me on our steps per day. We haven’t figured out how to do that through the app—instead we just directly compare our steps on our Vivofits (I have a Vivofit 3). The free app is nice but I’m still a bit confused about chores and toe-to-toe challenges. I’ll read more about that online I guess.

The bands are ridiculously small though. My daughter is 9, and while she is tall for her age, she’s not got big wrists or fat arms, however, the band that came with the Vivofit Jr is tiny. I kind of suspected that prior to purchase so I got replacement bands. The tightness of the band makes it more difficult for the Vivofit to stay in the band when it is stretched over the hand and wrist. The first time she tried to put it on, the Vivofit fell out of the band partially.
