This wire and jack are power AND *data signal* compatible. This is a problem if you have a device that has a memory card or can hook to a computer. For example, I used it for a dash cam. Every time my car starts with this hardwire kit, the cam asks "Enter mass storage mode?" It doesn't do this if the wire and jack are a power-only construction like the temp plug that is supplied with the cam. In fact, I bought this kit to replace an older hardwire kit that was of inferior quality, but was power-only, and had started the cam fine in record mode without the mass-storage screen popping up. If you are using this for a GPS, you may run into the same problem. It might work fine for radar detectors, etc. that don't have memory cards, nor hook up to computers. That aside, the kit is very high-quality, it has lots of options for difference fuse adapters, and is very easy to install.
If you are not a fan of using your Aux Power/Cigar lighter as a power source, AND you are fairly comfortable with getting into the skin and fabric of your car, this is a great way to hardwire your camera into your car's electrical network. I have wired previous cars the old fashioned and difficult way, this was a new and wonderful evolution of that chore. Everything I needed was included, plus some, I just had to pick out the pieces that fit my need. This makes life so much easier.
I bought this kit for my Akaso V1 dash cam. My 2012 Ford Fusion's lighter plug is always on, so you have to get in the habit of unplugging the dash cam after use and it has become a pain. I decided on this hard wire kit because it has all the pieces you need to make it happen. There are plenty of Youtube videos on how to hard wire it and it was simple enough. I think the hardest part for me was accessing the fuse box since Ford had made it difficult to access. I ensured the wires were neatly routed and secured. I had no problem with length and had some left over that I tied up. Now I'm happy my dash cam turns on when the car is turned on and turns off when the car is turned off.
Installed the kit to hard wire my Dash Cam. Overall, decent quality however, after installed, the ground wire pulled out of the U connector, (Very low quality connector and ground wire. I stripped the wire and attached a quality U butt connector, Problem solved. Wire was very easy to run and tuck thanks to the plastic hand tool provided. Very clean look in my car now. I was able to use an empty live fuse slot inside the cabin. I would buy this again, like that it has multiple fuse choices.
The dash cam hardwired kit was easy and very straight forward to install. I am glad that this kit came with four different kinds of fuses because if I had to guess which one it was on my own ahead of time, I would have definitely selected the wrong one. I was able to install one set in my 2003 Honda Pilot and one in my 2015 Honda Fit in less than 15 minutes each. There was plenty of extra cable length that I could have installed it in a much larger vehicle if needed.

This wiring kit works great with my new AKASO V1 Dash Cam. The cable length is good, the included fuse taps that fit most cars saves time in addition to some $, and the 5VDC (2A) voltage regulator module provides clean/stable power. The included headliner/panel tool is a nice bonus. Now I can save the cigarette lighter adapter cable that came with the dash cam for when I use the device in my secondary vehicle.
My only suggestion to the manufacturer is to make a version available that has the right angle mini-USB plug flipped 180 degrees so it natively connects to dash cams like mine (with the smaller side of the USB plug housing facing towards the front of the device and the right angle pointing UP☝️). Regardless, this is a good solution and I am sure will last me a long time.
Bought this hardware kit to use with my Apeman C450 dash cam. Powers the cam on with ignition power and turns off when I turn my truck off. Comes with four different types of fuse pigtails so there is no problem having the one that fits your vehicle. Available line was long enough to run from passenger side kick panel, up the A pillar and across the top of my windshield to the camera located on drivers side next to the rear view mirror.
Comes with a nice assortment of fuse taps
I have a 2017 Mazda 6 and although it takes low profile mini fuses, I ended up having to use a low profile fuse since it kept falling out - it isn't the fault of this product but more of a design flaw with these in general. The low profile fit perfectly and still allowed me to shut the cover. The product is high quality and has been fine now for the past couple of weeks it has been installed. Very simple installation - you literally put the fuse in the tap and plug the tap in an empty slot OR you can share a slot - just don't use anything essential. I tapped into my rear cigarette lighter fuse which happened to be empty for whatever reason.
The product is well made and everything fits nice and easy. However I did find that I was about 6 in to a foot too short on the wire. I would have liked to wrapped the wire on the other side of my rearview mirror but I couldn't do so cuz the wire was too short. I ran it from the battery through the firewall up to driver side windshield pillar through the headliner and then down by the review mirror. It was just a little bit too short. My battery is on the driver side and I went up to driver side windshield. But it is a great product
