This SSD was really easy to install! I'm 56yo and have never done anything like this before. I think it is really important to get all your ducks in a row before starting this process if you have never done this before. It's creating a bootable USB Drive of your OS, Formatting the SSD and Enabling the TRIM that can seem overwhelming. All of my docs and photos are in the cloud, so that was easy. I did a clean install so that made everything easy and fresh. Watch some youtube videos so you can prepare yourself. I installed this SSD and RAM at the same time. One other thing, Crucial is a US company in Idaho and if you have any questions call them. They are really helpful and you get to talk to a friendly human being!! This is really Rare these days!!

This thing is a BEAST!! I HIGHLY recommend this product if you are needing a REALLY FAST LOADING external storage for your consoles. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
PS. You’ll need a 2.5” to 3.5” enclosure, Sabrent has one here for nine bucks.
You’re welcome 😉😉
Works great so far but have a few things to look out for if you are trying to replace your main hard disk on Windows 10:
-Didn't get a USB to SSD adapter, one isn't included so you'll need that to clone (I bought Sabrent, worked ok)
-Had to initialize disk in disk management as GPT disk in disk management before Acronis would allow clone
-Also quick formatted disk not sure if Acronis needed this
-After cloning I struggled to get system to recognize disk to boot for a while
-Tried steps to repair boot record from command line, had no effect
-In my Dell Bios I had to add disk ID as a bootable device, after this Windows started and everything works fine now
-I had multiple IDs listed as possible bootable devices, added them all then removed unnecessary ones by trial and error
-I tried turning off secure boot and using legacy bios settings to recognize disk but that was a waste of time, UEFI and secure boot is enabled now and system is working
I bought this to replace a Western Digital Scorpio 750 GB. The drive seemed fine but Firefox was constantly dropping tabs or crashing and I was getting a blue screen of death once a day, for no apparent reason. I was using a fraction of my ram but for some reason Firefox was using the paging file on the hard disk. Read that this could because hard drive was going bad so decided to go to a SSD. Much to my surprise after cloning the drive with Acronis (I did this using an external USB attachment to the drive using the Startech SATA to USB attachment) I popped in the drive and booted up. Not only was the boot incredibly fast but so was everything else. Web pages loaded instantly. So generally very pleased. The only concern is the longevity of this drive and how quickly a fail happens. I don’t I’ll have to come up with a backup system.

I bought this Crucial SSD to replace the original smaller SSD in my Dell e7440. After battling windows technique for making an image on an external drive and using a recovery disk to load the image on this new drive for about 3 hours I finally gave up and ordered a Sabrent USB 3.0 to SSD / 2.5-Inch SATA I/II/IIIHard Drive Adapter (EC-SSHD) I just kept getting every possible error using the restore from image technique. The cable arrived in 2 days and using the free cloning software Crucial provides the new disk was cloned in about 15 minutes and installed in another 5 minutes. 20 minutes total and my computer is absolutely perfect with a bigger SSD and not a single hitch using the cloning method, windows simply booted right up with no further fuss. I was amazed and delighted that it turned out to be so easy with the $9 cable adapter.
I have a mid-2012 MacBook Pro that I was on the verge of trashing because it’s performance had become so poor. I did a lot of research on how to recover some of the speed I had lost. I did everything I could, short of upgrading the hardware, and nothing made a noticeable improvement. I was probably a few days away from giving up on the laptop, when I saw a suggestion to replace the hard drive with an SSD. I was skeptical at first at dropping $150+ into a machine that seemed a lost cause. But I took my chances and I am so glad that I did. This drive was so easy to self-install and it has given me no issues in the three months that I have been using it. 100% worth the investment if you don’t want to buy a new computer. Additional recommendation: get the toolset below to get the job done. Low cost and comes with everything you need to make the swap and more:

I had an old Segate GoFlex adapter and cable that fortunately worked great with the cloning process.
My laptop got a noticeable boost from this SSD and 500GB is honestly more than enough for my demands.
The install on this laptop (HP 15 Silver Fusion Laptop 15.6" , Intel Core i3-8130U) was admittedly annoying, but that's because HP makes it that way, as you can't even take the battery out without prying the bottom off after removing screws (some hidden underneath two rubber feet strips). Basically, you feel like you're breaking the plastic casing as you pry off the bottom to install anything, but it was still easy enough once to do and most laptops make upgrades a lot less troublesome.
The HDD that was included on this laptop was 1TB and with the Intel Optane memory, it seemed fast enough loading Windows already, but the drive was noisy and let's face it, HDDs seem like a bad idea when you can get a pretty cheap 500GB drive like this that uses less battery and reads/writes so much faster.
Shoutout to Ray Nhel, I loves you!
Bang for the buck, replacing a spinning drive with a solid state drive is one of the cheapest and easiest PC upgrades. As the prices have dropped so much, the 500GB SSDs are a super buy.
Install was quick and painless. Warning: if you’re replacing an old spinning drive, make sure you have a SATA to USB cable (for data transfer), and an internal hard drive mounting kit (to hold/suspend your new SSD) - should be able to find both of these for about $20 combined, on Amazon.
Post-install, both booting up the system and opening programs are much, much quicker. A highly recommended upgrade.
Installed drive. Eazy Peezy with the help of a YouTube video. Transferred all data from the original standard hard drive to the new Solid State drive via link prior to pulling old drive out. Once the data transfer was made, new drive was installed. I didn't have to make any changes or reload any drivers. Amazing. Booted up in seconds (vs. minutes) and this computer now runs better than new. It's about 3 years old and it performs great. I'd do this again in a heartbeat. A load cheaper than buying a new computer and all the software is still there. Don't do gaming on this laptop and haven't had to call customer service but rating is a 5 star. I'm a happy guy.
