VTech CS6719-2 2-Handset Expandable Cordless Phone with Caller ID/Call Waiting, Handset Intercom & Backlit Display/Keypad

VTech CS6719-2 2-Handset Expandable Cordless Phone with Caller ID/Call Waiting, Handset Intercom & Backlit Display/Keypad

We needed a no frills replacement for our old wireless home phones and decided to try these since they had so many positive reviews...and I'm glad we did! Set-up was simple and took less than 5 minutes. The layout of the handset is large and very intuitive, we didn't really need the instructions except to set the date and time. We have a smaller 1800 sq ft house and I walked to every corner of our house and never went out of range. In fact, I can still talk in our garage and driveway with no problem. Handsets are comfortable to hold and the base stations take up very little room on our counter. I highly recommend this set for just about any household. If you are in a large home there are very similar sets with more units.

Why I purchased: I honestly never thought I would need to buy a hardline phone set again. However, with my recent "package deal" with my cable provider a landline was included (and actually less expensive than not getting a phone line). So, I thought, "what the heck? I've got a phone line I'll buy a phone." I wasn't looking for top of the line, high functionality, but just a cheap and effective cordless phone.

Shipping: I recently had a bad shipping experience with Amazon and a 2-day shipping product getting to me in two weeks. I honestly think that this order arrived at my house about 18 hours after I ordered it. That is probably the most exciting part of this order because I honestly don't know how it got here that fast.

Quality: You get what you pay for, which is perfectly fine for me! It may just be because I haven't owned a cordless phone in a while, but the components, while effective, do seem a bit "light" and not as solid as something that you would probably pay more for. The buttons are a little sluggish in that it isn't like a smartphone in that you get the immediate feedback. Not a big deal but it is something that I noticed.

Setup: Very, very easy with clear instructions. No issues.

Features: I plugged it in and that was that. I have the ability to setup voicemail through my provider, but I just have not taken the time to do it and probably will not.

Would I buy again? Yes. Good price point, easy setup and it works. What more could you ask for?

It's a solid phone, especially for the price. However, there are a few minor annoying issues with it. See below for pros and cons:

PROS:
1. Has speed dialing feature, allowing digits 2-9 to be assigned
2. Has multiple ring tunes
3. Fairly loud upon ring, and hearing a person on the other line
4. Relatively user friendly
5. Very light and comfortable and easy to hold

CONS:
1. Although it has a speed dial function as mentioned above, you have to hold the assigned speed dial button it for about 5-6 seconds in order to dial
2. When checking call log, it's very slow in response to the user in showing the call log
3. It seems to lack the feature allowing to answer the phone call upon picking it up from the charging dock/base without pressing any button

Recommended, especially at this price range.

This is a very good phone for the price. It has a pretty color and nice style. The sound is clear on talk and the speaker. It is easy to use and set up. The directory is easy to store names and numbers and they can be saved from caller id. It also has call waiting and voice mail on the screen, if it comes in. You need to have the caller id and voice mail on your phone service to use these features. There is a red light that comes on the base if the phone is in use, the other light on the phone is for when it is charging. The keys also light up when you use the phone. The buttons may seem a little slow, however the tone sound goes through the phone systems better. There are several ring tones to choose from. The only problem I had is that the talk button is also the flash button. If you are on speaker and try to switch to talk you will be cut off and get dial tone; unless there is another call coming in. This phone works very well and I am glad I got it.

I LOVE it- Meets every expectation I had, and then some. !! The reception is crystal clear, and having the extra handset is a great asset. Takes no time at all to set up and charge, and the instruction pamphlet about all the features is every easy to understand..The buttons are large, and they light up when the receiver is picked up. Its light and very comfortable to handle, and the speaker option is marvelous to use. Would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone especially seniors and those who need a great phone that is easy to hold and handle!

Description

The VTech CS6719-2 Cordless Phone with Caller ID features an expandable system in which you can add up to five additional handsets (uses CS6709). This phone set includes a backlit keypad and display for easy viewing, ECO mode power-conserving technology and a quiet mode that silences the ringer to prevent interruptions. The VTech phone system with call waiting has caller ID, a full duplex handset with speakerphone and an indicator that notifies you of an awaiting voicemail

These phones work well but they don't announce the calls like some phones do. You have to call the voicemail number and play the messages back. Good price. I use VOIP and sometimes the true touchtone doesn't occur but I don't think that's a defect with the phone, I think it's an artifact of COMCAST VOIP. If you have Comcast VOIP and you want these for your homophone just be aware the touchtone doesn't work well with this system (when an automated line asks you to dial 1 or dial a number in response to a prompt the phone doesn't issue a crisp tone so it isn't recognized). I don't think it's the fault of the phone, I think it's the Voice over IP (VOIP) artifact. Just so you know what to expect.

I ended up buying an extra handset to go with the two handset system. The calls are clear and you can change the ringtone, but the feature that I love the most is the intercom system. If you have just 2 phones you simply press the intercom button. If you add a 3rd phone (or more) you press the intercom button and then 1 (to call phone 1) or 2 (to call phone 2)or 3 (to call phone 3)….you get the idea. Then the phone you select will ring as long as you want it to. I have a teenager that will watch TV in our finished basement and we used to have to yell down to her to come up for dinner or go to bed...sometimes she will act like she didn't hear us. With this we simply call the phone with the intercom system and let it ring and ring until she has to pick up! Love this feature :) I recommend this phone (the batter life is good too)

Disregard the negative reviews! I almost passed on buying this 2-phone set, based on, what I see now as, undeserving negative reviews it got. I am sure glad I gave this set a chance to show me what it can do!
I love the features they have:
~ There are two cordless telephones included, but only the Primary Unit has to have access to a modular telephone jack. The Satellite Unit only needs an AC outlet, and is automatically linked to the Primary Unit's modular connection.
~ The screen lights up with a clear and easy-to-read display when a call is coming in, which means I don't have to turn the lights on to see who is calling me at night, or in a room with subdued lighting.
~ With Caller ID, if I see a robo-call is coming in, I can kill the ringer on just that Unit without having to answer.
~ There are ten different ringtones to choose from.
~ I can also set the phone ringer of one receiver to mute, and I can program how long it will be mute, without muting the Satellite receiver.
~ I can also add (available at Amazon) more receivers to the set if I need to.

Disregard the negative reviews. This is a GREAT phone set that I very enthusiastically recommend to you!

I bought this phone to replace a 2.4GHz cordless phone that was interfering with our WiFi. This phone does not interfere at all, and does not pickup any tones from WiFi either. I am getting used to having to hit the green talk button when a call comes in. I agree that it would be good to have a switch to have the option of automatic connect when the ringing phone is lifted from base. But now that we have caller ID coming in from our phone provider, I am getting used to looking at the incoming caller number before hitting the talk button. Some annoying marketers cleverly get around the Do Not Call list, and I would rather not answer them. My middle school daughter entered in names and numbers of people we regularly call. Though how hard would it be for the phone to wirelessly connect to a smart phone for easier entry of data, or copying directly of phone contacts in smart phones? I gave the product five stars because it has a built in speaker phone in the handset (speaker in middle rear of phone), a main selling point for me.

I bought the VTech CS6719-2 as a replacement for another VTech cordless phone system that we had for about 7 years. It was easy to set up and the batteries charged quickly. We live in Costa Rica and have been using it for over a month now and have had no issues so far. When talking to family back in the states the sounds is very clear without distortion and their voices sounds just as they do if I was talking to them in person. The number pad backlit and easy to read in the dark-- as is the display screen. This is a good basic phone and I would recommend it for anyone looking for an inexpensive cordless system for their home.
