Sceptre 27" Curved 75Hz LED Monitor C278W-1920R Full HD 1080P HDMI DisplayPort VGA Speakers, Ultra Thin Metal Black, 1800R immersive Curvature, 2018

Sceptre 27

I normally wouldn't write a review this soon after receiving an item (2 days) but I too had noticed the sort of "pixel fog" that others were describing. I tried updating drivers, going through all the settings both for the monitor and my video card, everything. Finally I noticed that, in the adapter properties, the refresh rate was set to 60 hertz instead of 75. Once I made that change, this monitor became everything I hoped it would be!*

*I didn't notice that it had speakers when I bought it, so I wasn't hoping for those. If you are buying this because you want an awesome monitor with even adequate built-in speakers, look elsewhere. The speakers sound like 1990s earbuds dropped into a tin can.

After shopping around I decided to purchase 2 of these because you can't beat the price and honestly it's 2017 I don't know why so many monitors are still over priced. This was one of few that had VESA mounting capability at this size. The only bad reviews are saying that you can't mount it, you can, it's really easy- see my photos. My mount didn't come with spacers so I e-mailed Sceptre and they priority mailed me spacers. Now I have a great curved home office at about half the cost. I've been using them for a week- picture quality is great, I mostly use them for work and don't do and gaming so i can't really speak to that. As long as they last a while, I'll be very happy, they look great.

I was nervous from the reviews that I would find dead pixels or blacks would look greyed out. I took the advice from one of the reviewers about ignoring those flaws and getting these for my new gaming system. I'm so glad I did. These monitors are gorgeous, out of the box. I was careful not to take the protection off the front of the screen until I absolutely had them in the right position. Granted, I have only used them two days now but I'm making sure I turn them off when not in use and have good ventilation in the room to not overheat the system they are connected to or the monitors themselves. I'm very pleased with this purchase.

The only downside would be the speakers, they are not the greatest quality but I'm not taking anything off for them because many of the monitors available like this do not have speakers period so I felt I was getting a real bargain having the speakers included.

I recently purchased this for a budget gaming computer I built. I was using a 32" tv monitor previously and this monitors picture puts the tv monitor to shame! This monitor is perfect size for what I was looking for. I debated on the 32" version of this monitor but decided to go with the 27". I am glad I did because it fits my needs well. I am looking into purchasing another one of these to run a dual monitor setup eventually. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a affordable monitor that works with all normal PC needs.

Pros:
Lightweight
Sturdy
Clean Look
Great Picture for Gaming
Easy to set up
VESA Mountable

Cons:
Speakers have no strength to them. They do sound clear but there is virtually no thump or bass to any beats. Just good flat line crisp sound. (This is not an issue as I prefer to use a Gaming Headset or some beefy computer plug in speakers with sub woofer.

Don't understand all of the bad reviews. Mine looks beautiful and worked perfectly right out of the box. It took a day or two to get use to but thats normal getting use to any new monitor. Very bright, just perfect.

The monitors arrived well packed and undamaged. Hooked it up and didn't notice any issues at all. I was concerned after reading a few reviews of damaged displays. I bought these to update my older 21.4" displays for surround gaming.
The VESA mounting standoffs were included in all 3 monitors thankfully. This is because the monitor stand attachment protrudes out the back and without it, you won't be able to use the VESA mounting points on the back.

Will update this review after a few months of use. Liking it so far.

Great monitor for consoles. Have both my ps4 and gaming PC hooked up to it and it is amazing. The only couple of flaws I could find were the speakers and the edges of the screen being a little discolored. I have external speakers so the 1st flaw isn't that big of a deal and the discoloration is only noticeable when the background is black.

This curved monitor is great! I bought it for my wife, but might steal it or buy another. It has a good assortment of inputs, but the main feature is the much tighter curve than some other "curved" monitors that I own. It truly makes viewing any part of the screen as good as any other. The only disadvantage is that it tilts downward, as if it were designed to be set above your head height. We put small books under the front of it to make it level with my wife's face in use. We didn't notice any bad pixels or any faults in the display.

But it won't be the best monitor you've ever had. I can easily see brighter spots in some sections of the display as others. I'm not talking about dead pixels either, just where the screen is literally brighter in parts. Mostly noticeable on dark images/situations. That's the main reason why I can't give it higher than 4 stars. Now the sound quality, I think I was being generous at 2 stars. It is pretty bad. But then again, who uses the sound from their monitors? I'm actually impressed that they even bothered! It's just 1 step better than the internal speaker on most PC towers. The material quality, I had to give a 4 as well. See, I have a triple monitor set up and I believe that in order to get a 5 star rating, they would have had to match up just about exactly, but they didn't. I'm being really picky here so don't let the few details I pointed out dissuade you from buying this monitor because for the price, you cannot beat it. Overall, I am happy with my triple purchase of these monitors but I this is a review and I have to say the truth. Thanks for reading!

Great price. My only complaint is that the pixels bleed, causing funky colors at times. Other 27" monitors costing 2x as much will have better screens, but for someone looking for a larger monitor to help see things better, it works great.
