Organic Bananas, One Bunch (min. 5 ct)

Organic Bananas, One Bunch (min. 5 ct)

You pay for someone else to pick out your produce and I guarantee you'll be unhappy with their choice at some point. Fruit isn't always available in the perfectly ripe condition or without bruises. It's rather hit and miss with both Fresh AND Prime Now. That's part of the cost of not picking it out myself. I've ordered it maybe 6 times and have been disappointed maybe once. Produce does come from various vendors at any given time.

I like these bananas , have not received any bad ones. Mine have never been packaged either. I give them four stars because of quality control issues. Though I've never received any green ones , or anything that won't ripen more if needed , in a reasonable amount of time, must note you never know what you're going to get in terms of ripeness and size of bananas. I got some really huge thick ones in my last order. They were yellow , a little hard , it was obvious they needed to ripen more . No they didn't ripen overnight or anything like that. I just ate one upon arrival , surprisingly despite its appearance it was somewhat sweet , just okay to eat , but I could tell it was going to be really delicious upon ripening more and it was. Obviously, Amazon has more than one source that they get there organic bananas from , which is why there are issues with the quality control. No two growers are alike. Amazon needs to keep watch and find out which grower , they are receiving the most complaints about. I for one do not like the thin small bananas , as they arrive almost too ripe , and continue to ripen rapidly. You you need to use these type of bananas almost immediately , if not by the next day at the latest. They are the best if you make smoothies as they are very sweet , due to their very ripened state , upon arrival . If you don't plan on using them within the next 24 hours , you could toss them in your freezer for use in other things , such as banana bread, banana pancakes, and the like. Personally I don't like bananas that arrive like this. I don't mind if a couple of bananas have to go into the freezer but I really enjoy my bananas the most when I can peel and eat them , and not have to toss most of them in the freezer , almost immediately.

Organic bananas taste better and last longer than regular ones. Even after they start to look a bit pitiful, they don't overrippen like regular ones. Granted, any banana can get bruised, and start to ripen (build up sugars) more quickly, and one never appreciates bruises in any fruit, but I believe that the organic bananas have a tougher skin than do the regular ones. [in fact, when you "peel" it, it often splits at the back of its neck; you can continue the split, and eat it like it's a canoe boat.] Bananas are excellent sources of nutrients and minerals many people (kids especially) get nowhere else in their diets (like potassium), and are one of the easiest foods to digest…they actually aid in your gut's health! Face it, bananas are one of the cheapest fruits you can buy even when you buy the organic ones!! They are worth the dime more per bunch.

Very yellow bananas! I ordered these bananas and they were very fresh and exactly ripe and ready to eat. They tasted delicious. I only gave 4 stars because I wish that maybe 2 or 3 of the bananas had been a little bit green. That way we could have enjoyed some when they arrived and some a day or two later. 2 of them were pretty brown 2 days after they arrived and no one was willing to eat them at that point as they were. Yes, I am expecting perfection but they were quite tasty.

Absolutely love these bananas, they are nice and firm and remains that way without putting them in the fridge (no soft spots after a day or so like other bananas) they ripened within a great time frame. Please continue to get these as I will continue to purchase them.

Banana History

Bananas come in a variety of sizes and colors, but are always sweet and satisfying when eaten! Bananas have been around forever. Did you know that they have grown on this planet for over 1 million years and that experts believe the first plants grew in the jungles of Southeast Asia?

The origin of the banana plant can be traced to the far eastern part of the world. In this region, the wild banana was slowly domesticated over time. Bananas are first mentioned as a food source sometime between 800 and 600 BC. From the Far East, bananas were transported to the Mediterranean region around 300 BC. Besides being a food source, banana leaves may have also served as an important source of fiber.

Although already known by some, the banana was officially introduced to the American public at the Philadelphia Centennial Exposition of 1876. By the early 1900s, the banana was becoming a staple food for North America.

Great bananas. The same Dole Organic bananas from Whole Foods and the same taste. These will be a staple item.

Slightly green at the top just like the picture. Some individual bananas can be a bit under ripe the first day but great on the second day. No bruises and large discolorations. Well handled and good quality.

And I like the organic part because I also use the skin to make something I learned on You Tube. But at average $0.25-$0.28 they are not exactly cheaper than in the store, but for some reason on Amazon, organic bananas are cheaper than regular, so why not get organic when you can?

"Min 5 ct"...hummmmm! We've now ordered bananas twice (maybe three times) and each time at least 15 to 20 bananas arrive! REALLY! I now have a freezer full of bananas! Somebody needs to check of quantity control! Unless you have a house full of adults or kids (and we don't), these are way to many!

it seems to me that banana's don't have much flavor any longer. maybe organic is the trick, if it is these are so good! they actually taste like a banana!!

I like that the bananas are organic. Sometimes, though, the ones that get delivered are a little more bruised than what I would pick up in the store. For the price and convenience, though, I will continue to buy them.
