HP Laserjet Pro M118dw Wireless Monochrome Laser Printer with Auto Two-Sided Printing, Mobile Printing & Built-in Ethernet (4PA39A)

HP Laserjet Pro M118dw Wireless Monochrome Laser Printer with Auto Two-Sided Printing, Mobile Printing & Built-in Ethernet (4PA39A)

This is replacing a highly rated Brother 2270 laser printer which operated great but had a difficult interface to connect to on a wireless network. Just awful! It also was a little dated and did not have Airprint. Spent some time researching and I decided to go back to HP but needed something not to big that could fit in my small desk. Setting the printer up wirelessly was painless and it works with both my Apple Ipad and Iphone so I am very happy! Time will tell how the printer stands up to my home use and it's quality.

Looks nice - but why is it leaving marks on the side? It's brand new. Tried cleaning the printer drum. Suggestions?

I have another HP laser jet that is 10 years old and still going strong so I know HP quality is there. The price on this printer was great and right out of the box it worked fine. Setup went smoothly and downloading the drivers and setup information was quick and painless. I haven't used the wireless function yet but setup on that aspect was also very smooth.

The HP Laserjet M118dw Monochrome Printer is HP’s new budget laserjet printer. Best value laser printer? Let’s take a look.

This printer is a wireless monochrome laser printer. In the box you get the printer (with a 1000-page black toner cartridge and a 23,000-page imaging drum already installed), a power cable, a USB-A to USB-B cable (for a USB 2.0 port), and setup instructions.

The printer holds up to 260 sheets of paper in the input paper tray and can output up to 150 sheets before you should remove the printed pages to make more room. The printer supports media sizes of 76 x 127 to 216 x 356 mm and can print on paper (laser, plain, photo, rough, vellum), envelopes, labels, cardstock, and postcards. The dimensions of the printer are 223.9 mm tall x 407.4mm deep x 370.5mm wide, and the printer weights 6.9 kg (15.2 lb). The printer can connect to your network wirelessly (built-in Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n) or physically–the printer also comes with an Ethernet 10/100network port. Note that this printer does not support printing from a USB thumb drive.

Notable features of the printer include duplex (two-sided) printing, a print resolution of up to 1200 x 1200 dpi, printing speed of up to 30 pages/minute, and perhaps the best feature–wireless printing. The printer comes with its own embedded web server. The web server allows you to access device and supply status, printer configurations, network configurations, event logs, etc.

The printer has its own assigned email address, so in addition to printing wirelessly on your own network you can print email an attached document or image to your printer’s email address from anywhere and your printer will print it via HP’s ePrint Web Services server.

In use I found the HP Laserjet M118dw Monochrome Printer to be a speedy and very functional laserjet printer. The features of monochrome laserjet quality and wireless printing are hard to beat for the low price of this printer. The setup process was fairly straightforward, though in my case (running macOS High Sierra) I had to go into my Security & Privacy System Preference to allow a blocked system extension HP’s installation software needed. Note however that this printer just prints–some printers come with scanners and copiers added on. To me, those additions just adds to the cost and complexity of the printer. Moreover, you really don’t need those extras, since the free HP Smart App allows you to copy, scan, and print documents from your phone or tablet, so with the app and printer, you’ve got all the functionality you need. So all in all, this is a really great value for a wireless laserjet printer.

I remember paying around $2,500 for my first HP laser printer. This one was only around $100 and is faster, prints on both sides, and costs less in consumables. A great deal!!

Out of the box to printing wireless and cellphone.... 10 minutes! Prints well! WiFi works well! No complaints yet! I'll update as needed! UPDATE: It's now 05/04/2019 still working great!

I'm used to commercial sized Laserjet printers from when I worked in an pretty big office. Now that I work from home, I was looking for something similar, but much smaller and significantly cheaper . I've have wasted way too much money on ink while trying to experiment with Inkjet printers, with no luck. The ink always dries out. I primarily use the printer for documents, and never use color, so this printer meets all of my needs.
This is by-far the most compact, most affordable Laserjet there is. I was shocked with the paper capacity, and how it doesn't need to be "opened-up" to allow for paper feeding. There is no digital display, however the set-up is so easy, there is no need for one.
If you need a printer strictly for documents (black and white), this is the printer for you!

I love this laser printer so far. It's prints very fast, faster than I actually need to print, which is quite nice. It does everything I need it to also. I love how you can print on envelopes too. There were no instructions on how to set that up, but there's Google and YouTube to help with that, it turned out to be easy. Setup was ok, not the best or clearest instructions, but easy enough. Printing from my iPhone is also a nice feature.

Two-sided printing and a huge paper tray at a great price point. This printer is an extremely good value and I'm very happy with it. Plus I hope this marks the end of black computer bits, give me classic IBM light grey.

This printer does everything it was promoted to do effectively, efficiently, and quietly. Duplex printing was a must for me, and this printer does it very well. The wireless set-up was a breeze. Suggestion: I would not accept the default print quality setting of 1200 lpi. In my opinion, changing the default setting to 600 dpi gives deeper, sharper, and clearer results.
