For the price, I don't think this can be beat. I bought two of these, and spent about the same amount of money as if I were to buy a decent 24" monitor. They're a little small, but not bad from a foot or so away. The number of inputs is awesome, but I would prefer 2 HDMI over 1 HDMI, VGA, and DVI; today's devices primarily use HDMI. The speakers are, eh, not impressive. At least they're there, unlike a lot of monitors, but the volume is limited and the quality is poor- don't buy this for the speaker.
My biggest complaint is that neck that goes into the base is NOT (easily) removable. So, if you plan to mount this on a wall or stand, like me, then you'll have an unsightly black neck sticking out the bottom. I've read you can remove the monitor frame and unscrew the neck, but I tried this and wasn't able to separate the frame without feeling like I was going to break something.
It is a good monitor for the money. I bought it as a second monitor so I could connect it to my DVR and watch TV while "working" at my computer. VGA and HDMI inputs are a big plus. The speakers are next to useless. They face away from the user and are not loud enough.
I was a bit concerned about the unremovable stand but decided not to worry about it since I was just going to set it on my desk anyway. Now I have bought a dual monitor stand and decided to see if the "leg" could be removed. If nothing else I would just saw it off. What the heck it is just a $70 monitor.
I removed the four screws on the back, pried off the bezel, lifted up the screen, and there were the screws that hold the leg on. I removed them and put the monitor back together
The monitor looks great on the stand and I can always put the leg back on later.
Let me start off by saying that I'm not a gamer, and I'm not a computer expert. I simply needed a decently sized second monitor to use while I'm working. I was looking for something reasonably priced with solid reviews, and this works perfect for what I need.
If you're into gaming, or want something with amazing speakers, it sounds like this probably isn't the monitor for you based on other reviews. If you're just looking for a monitor to do some work on, like I was, then I would definitely recommend this.
* As a note, the first monitor I got didn't work when I hooked it up. It had a bright white screen no matter what I hooked it into, and it wouldn't display anything. I emailed Sceptre's support, and they said that there was an issue with the display panel. They also said that I could send it to them to get repaired for free, because it's covered under warranty for a year. I decided to contact Amazon as well, and they let me exchange it for a new monitor. The new monitor works great, and Amazon provided me with a prepaid shipping label, so I didn't have to pay anything extra. I decided not to let this bring down the rating, because Sceptre's support team was very responsive and Amazon made the exchange extremely easy. Still, I thought that it was worth mentioning.
I bought this monitor in order to play it with my Xbox One. It's a good Monitor, it wasn't what I expected honestly. You know "You get what you paid for". I feel like I got more than what I paid for since I'm able to play Dark Souls 3 with good graphics. It's a cheap Monitor but it's worth if if you're just using it to play games at your desk.
Just incase you guys don't know,
It has
1 HDMI Input Port
1 VGA Input Port
1 DVI Input Port
I recommend this TV for anyone with a low budget looking for a good monitor.
This monitor was inexpensive and works ok if you’re going to set it on a desk. If you plan on using a Vesa wall mount, be aware that the neck is actually attached to the monitor and cannot be removed - see my pics. This means you’ll have an ugly looking chunk of plastic hanging from under the monitor. I still can’t decide if I want to keep it since the monitor was very inexpensive, or if it’s going to hurt my eyes too much to see the glaring eyesore under the monitor due to it being wall mounted with the base removed. I wish I had noticed this before purchasing because I definitely would have picked a different monitor.
Other than the weird neck issue, the monitor works and looks great - especially when using it with the base on a flat surface. I’m using the HDMI port on the back but it also has VGA to connect to your PC. I played with the monitors menu and it has options to adjust a few different settings. I liked that it had warm/cool/normal/etc. view settings. I am using it to view my security cameras so no other adjustments were needed for my situation. The built in speaker were a bonus and work fine for basic sounds tests.
An FYI if you are going to wall mount it - I searched the Q&A before purchasing and received conflicting info on the VESA size for this unit. I purchased a $20 articulating wall mount that would work for either 75mm or 100mm spacing. After installing the mount & monitor today I noted it used the wider spaced holes so it does appear to need a 100mm VESA mount.

Description
Whether you are a gamer or a movie buff, the Sceptre e205w-1600 monitor is the way to go. 1600 x 900 resolution delivers vivid colors and sharp images on a 19.5” diagonal corner to corner inch screen. A 5 millisecond response time displays action sequences with the highest Degree of clarity. Enjoy HDMI, DVI, and VGA inputs to connect all video and gaming devices.
Great little monitor to do Raspberry Pi projects with. My only complaint is where the power port and HDMI ports are located. Instead of being located on the bottom of the monitor (where they could be tied together and hidden), they are located on the left and right of the components box, so your power cord and HDMI cable are hanging off the left and right of the monitor. It's just ugly is what I'm saying.
The model I received was marked on the box as a E205W-1600, which according to this description and the manufacturer's site, should have VGA, DVI and HDMI ports. The model in the box had 2-HDMI's and one VGA (which is actually what I wanted - this matches the picture included in the description above).
The monitor went together easily. The bracket on the monitor for the base is very sturdy and the angle adjustment works fine. The VESA holes (the smaller size) are obstructed by the bracket, but if you are hanging the monitor you can use the offsets (included) which will allow that to be screwed in as long as you don't have the pedestal installed. If you, like I, are placing a mini-PC on the back, the offsets aren't tall enough to get over the pedestal. However, you can screw one offset into another and get two screwholes that clear the pedestal. That was secure enough for my mini-PC bracket (a Beelink Apollo Lake Windows machines)
The picture is quite good and the colors are accurate (in Windows, you'll want to adjust the Gamma which is typical and not an issue with the monitor). I was surprised at the quality, really very nice.
The speakers are 2W, so temper your expectations, but they seemed to work just fine with an acceptable sound. You can adjust the volume using some buttons on the case of the monitor (or of course via Windows or whatever input device you are using)) You have an audio in jack (which I did not test, it's meant to pump in the sound if you are using the VGA jack) and a audio out jack, which works well with external speakers.
The case has typical buttons for power and the manipulate the on screen settings and the aforementioned volume controls. And a button to toggle from VGA to HDMI1, HDMI2. This model "found" the active port when I was testing it.
My box came with the TV, power adapter (it is a box on a wire adapter with the box at the plug, so it takes up space on a power strip). A VGA cord, manuals and installation hardware, including 2 screws to attach the pedestal, four offset screws for the VESA mount and interestingly, a little phillips screwdriver.
The monitor is light, thin, angle adjusts and the speakers are small but not distorting and it has audio out for headphones/speakers. The picture is good and it took less than 5 minutes from opening the packing to having it running (including installing the VESA bracket for my mini-PC). Highly recommended, but please check with the vendor first if you need the DVI, I got two HDMI instead of DVI and HDMI - all these models have the VGA I believe.
This monitor is great for the price. Looks great. I use it for my PS4 and even my roku. I have two of these inside my garage. The stand is fully removable BTW. I saw some reviews about how the stand isn't removable but it is.. Look on youtube and there are ways. Took about 10 min for me to do.
For the average user I think most will be pleased with this monitor. Its only $69 currently. I wanted a small monitor because my work area has only a small space available for a monitor and I am replacing a 17" monitor so this, for me, was a perfect size.
They are very generous, in my opinion, including a vga cable and even a small Phillips head screwdriver, I did not expect those items to be included. No hdmi cable, though I was running vga anyway so it is just fine with me.
Picture quality is good. I did tweak the settings, a little bit and also played with Windows resolution settings until I thought it looked the best. It will make a difference, because when I first set it up it looked ever so slightly blurry, but it is nice and clear now that I played with the settings.
Previous reviews complained about the neck of the base not being removable. That must be an older version of this monitor because it came disassembled and the neck quite easily attaches or detaches with 2 screws. (I provided pictures) Also, the description is currently incorrect in that it says, VGA, HDMI and DVI. Mine has no DVI input (see photos) I doubt anyone is even running DVI cable but if you are and are planning on using it you will be disappointed.
If your expectations are realistic you will be quite happy. For surfing and office work it is a great choice. If you are a photographer, graphic artist etc obviously you will want to blow more money on a monitor.
Hoping for longevity going forward, if it dies on me I will update this review, but as current this is 5 stars for a small, inexpensive and clear monitor. Fast shipping, extra vga and screwdriver included.
I am not one for writing reviews but it this case I made an exception. It makes me laugh when I see some of the cons that were posted on this item. For the price and quality of this monitor I rate it Five Star Plus. I received this item and right out of the box connected it to my computer. Did not need to read the manual because it was so easy to figure out. After connecting it to my computer and seeing the results for the first time, I new I had purchased the right monitor. The quality of the display was far more then I expected. Very bright, Clear, and fast responding. Again, you could not buy a dinner for what i paid for this item. So for all of you who find fault with this monitor, you are the type of person that would find fault with any monitor no matter what it cost. For all future buyers I would recommend this monitor and know you will be very happy with your purchase. I have built many computers and repaired many monitors and what you get with this monitor for the price is well worth it. You don't have to believe me, but this unit is all Pro: in my opinion.
