Love the packaging on these as they are great for travel. They do not come in the cup as you find in grocery stores. They are individual packet and you have to measure the water and cook in a bowl in microwave.
Yes they are not healthy. But when traveling and you have a picky child these are a life savers.
I buy these because I like the convenience factor. I like that I can make a single serving (instead of a whole box). I usually add some sour cream or cottage cheese to the finished product to up the creamy factor.
One thing to note: don't leave the cooked macaroni in the microwave for too long. The macaroni will absorb all the liquid (necessary for making the sauce) and your mac and cheese won't be as creamy. Still tasty, but the sauce will be clumpy.
I just received these and when I opened them I was a little bit shocked to see these little packages instead of the normal cups I'm used to buying in the store. After I took a look at them I think it's actually a pretty good idea. They save a ton of room in the cupboard and we always dump the cooked noodles into our own bowl to eat them so I actually think it's pretty neat.
I purchased the Easy Mac 18 individual packs, not the bowls. This is the perfect size for a side item. I am using a home microwave of 1100 watts to heat up this product in a medium size bowl. The package instructions say to use 2/3 cup of water, and heat for 3 1/2 minutes. Two minutes with an average home microwave of 1100 watts is plenty. Unless you use a large bowl you will need to watch for the water to keep it from bowling over in the microwave. I find that at the 1:45 mark I need to stop the process and stir. I then continue to heat, but watching as I will need to stop again prior to completion.
My first attempt I followed the instructions of 3 12 minutes, and I did not monitor. Water had boiled over, and there was no water left in the container to dissolve the cheese mixture. 2 minutes seems to be the perfect time; noodles are tender, and there is plenty of water to dissolve the cheese and thicken up the mixture.
SURPRISINGLY, this is very good mac n cheese. I purchased it for my daughter to use for her girls - just about the only thing they will eat is mac n cheese - and the box wound up staying at my house. I would use it for them because they have always LOVED IT, but I never wanted any because I thought, instant macaroni? No thanks. What a shock that it tastes so cheesy and good! I don't particularly love that it's in styrofoam or that it is processed, but if you are ok with those two things, you can't go wrong with this! The flavor is better than the regular box of cook on the stove-top Kraft mac n cheese imho. It's completely easy enough for any child that can use a microwave, but of course with all kids' cooking, adult supervision is recommended. My 9 yr old grand can make these all by herself. Easy peasy and oh so cheesy!

These are individual packets and SOOOO much better than the Kraft mac n cheese cups! With the cups, I found that the water would always boil over and leave a big mess in your microwave and I swore I would never purchase this brand for that reason and switched to the store brand so when I saw that these were packets instead of cups, I thought I’d give it a try. You just throw these in a microwave safe bowl, add 2/3 cup of water and microwave for 3 1/2 minutes and this doesn’t boil over! If you have impatient kids such as mine, put this in the freezer for a few minutes and it thickens the cheese sauce and cools it much faster. My kids enjoy eating these for lunch and I like the fact that it takes up less space in your pantry as opposed to those bulky cups!
So convenient for families with young kids or college kids or just for a quick meal. I do not like the easy Mac cup singles. They have a slimy weird texture but these pouches are literally just like making a box of Mac n cheese except perfectly portioned for one. One of my kids loves Mac n cheese and the others don’t so we wasted a lot of boxes until I found these. I’ll be repeating this purchase for sure.
I have gotten maybe five or six boxes of macaroni and cheese and in case you may not know the packet of cheese powder comes glued to the plastic bag of macaroni and I would advise to gently pry them apart as one day I had macaroni and cheese powder all over the counter because the glue stuck to the plastic but the paper didn't, making a big powdery mess. I normally eat two packages at one time because that is all I eat sometimes in the day. The last box I had purchased was missing one as there were only 29 in the box. If I did not eat them two at a time I would not have known the difference.
I discovered and boy am I glad that I did, I had a small can of Hatch diced green chile that are supposed to be hot in spice. I used 3-4 teaspoons of the green chile sauce and while it asks for 1 cup of water to make the macaroni and cheese sometimes I add a little splash of water, not even a sixteenth of a cup as either it's because of the microwave power or just the product itself but I find that is the best mix and instead of adding that splash of water, the 3-4 teaspoons are perfect.
I was able to mix other teaspoonful of green chilies when I made the next batch until the can was finished and oh my goodness, how I wish I had some more Hatch Green Chile! By the way, green chili are loaded with vitamin C end unless you enjoy having tears streaming down your face because the chili is so hot or salsa so hot this would not be I would choose. A previous resident of New Mexico where they have the best green chile cheese enchiladas the hatch green chilies that have hot marked on them would probably be okay for most people.
My now 18-year-old son loves these and has since he was a toddler, except now he can make them himself. Except for filet Mignon (go figure :-)) , for 17 years, he has eaten nothing but some variation of Mac ‘n cheese (I.e., cheese and carbs). He is the tallest person in the family, incredibly strong though he does no spirts and doesn’t work out, and very healthy. Since that entire stretch of time, which other parents will know what I am talking about, I ended up eating his leftovers or having to eat Mac ‘n cheese with him, I will never eat Mac ‘n cheese (even the most delicious homemade) again. I give this 5 stars because to each his own and this has been a lifetime favorite of my son’s.
I like this product for a quick meal for myself. I would like it even better if it didn't boil over every time I fix it. I've tried using several different microwave bowls including a sistema noodle bowl and it still boils over. But if you stir the cheese packet in really fast after you remove it from the microwave it turns out tasting good it just doesn't have much liquid to work with. I also suggest using a saucer or plate under the container you microwave it in to keep from having a mess from the boil over.
