Gvirtue Replacement Lost Remote Control Compatible with Roku 1, Roku 2, Roku 3, Roku 4, (HD, LT, XS, XD), Roku Express, Roku Premiere, Roku Ultra; Do NOT Support Roku Stick, Roku TV or Roku Game

I read several reviews which stated these do not work or only work from very short distances and aren't like an OEM Roku remote. The simple fact is they are not, Roku remotes in many cases use WiFi or Bluetooth frequencies and have a pairing button under the battery door (some not all). These remotes are RF only using infrared (old school simplicity) and also unlike the OEM units use 2 AAA batteries not 2 AA batteries so they are smaller in size and weight. The short version, I plopped in a couple of AAA batteries, pointed it at my Roku 4 and the TV and Roku powered up to the main screen. FYI if you don't have your Roku unit programmed to turn on your TV via the HDMI cable, you should, makes like so much easier than having to turn on the TV then find the Roku remote. Still need the 2nd remote for the TV volume but if you don't change it too often what does it matter.

Onto the devices, construction is the same as any OEM unit, they are not flimsy, they are fine, maybe a 10cent part where OEM might have used 15cent parts but honestly for the price and the fact that I can get 4 of these for the price of 1 Roku remote, worth every penny.

These have 6 buttons on the top menu and no voice search button, something I never used so no issue there. These don't have volume buttons either, that's a feature of a connected remote like the OEM, if you want then then spend the 29 dollars for the OEM units from Roku and don't bother reading any more of this review because these units are not for you.

The reports that these units only work at 3 or 4 feet, greatly exaggerated and disproved, again these are RF remotes you need to point them at the unit but I was 15 feet away from my TV and they worked perfectly. Each of the pre-programmed buttons worked flawlessly, I don't have a couple of the apps but the ones that I use all came right up so programming was fine. I didn't find that I needed to push extra hard, I didn't find that I had to get up close and personal, I knew going in that I wasn't going to need to pair the unit via pairing button and wasn't going to expect headphones on the remote because it's a simple remote.

If you have a lower end Roku unit (non IR remote) then this will be plug & play.

Bought as a replacement for my lost Roku 2 remote. Opened the package, inserted two AAA batteries and the remote began working immediately. No fuss. No complicated process to link with device. Just fired it up and it started working. I wish everything worked this quickly and easily.

Not really a lot to be said about it; It changes channels. It worked with my Visio TV without trouble. It's an infra-red remote, and It has the limitations typical of an infra-red remote: relatively short-range, has to be pointing pretty close to directly at the Roku, or nothing happens. It also has a slight lag (TV response isn't instantaneous.) It's smaller (not as "deep" from button-face to backside) than the RF units, it's lighter (feels like an empty plastic shell,) and takes 2 AAA batteries (not included.) It isn't like the newer RF remotes; with RF units, distance is no issue, those guys will work from the next room, there's no lag at all, and you can point it directly away from the TV and it still works. The RF remotes are a little bigger (thicker) too, and take two AA batteries rather than the two AAA batteries of the IR remote. It's a functional remote, and I'll keep it onhand as an emergency backup... but I much prefer the RF units to this kind. It's also a lot less expensive than the RF units (sub $10 -vs- around $40), so if cost is a factor, this one is the way to go.

Automatically connected and works perfectly. The buttons need to be pressed more firmly than the original Roku remote. A few of the buttons on the remote no longer have Roku channels. Overall, these are minor issues for a working remote at a great price.

Got this remote for the XS we had for a while now whose remote we misplaced during a move. It's working great (given the price and the fact that it's not a fancy ROKU brand remote)! I see no issues with the performance or quality so far (been a week) and we sit about 4-5 feet away from the TV/Roku unit. All the buttons work too, which I think is awesome! Sooooo happy that I don't have to constantly use the buggy roku app on my phone anymore to communicate with this roku unit. I gave a 3 star for durability since I have not had enough time to gauge that aspect yet.

When it first arrived it was so light I was afraid it was a cheap copy. After using it for about a week I'm happy to report the only thing cheap was the price! It works fantastic and all the problems I was having with my Roku disappeared. My Roku Is several years old and I kept having to press the keys on the old remote very hard and very often. This remote has been great. I've only had it about a week but it does have a one year warranty so I'm hopeful it will continue to work as well as it does now.

I was so happy that this worked instantly. I just popped in 2 AAA batteries and it worked !! I bought long life batteries from the dollar store, as it comes without batteries.
Sure it is lighter in weight than the original Roku, but who cares. It is way cheaper, and it has the instant buttons to get Netflix, and Pandora, the two streaming things I watch, so I am a very happy camper.
I did read all about the product first, but since I am dumb electronically I was a little worried that it would not work.
BUT NO PROBLEMS

Works Great once I put the batteries in right. I got it and rushed putting the batteries in pointed it at my roku and nothing... Turned the webcam on my laptop on and pointed it at the camera. Couldn't see anything. You should see a white light on your screen if you point an infared remote at your webcam. Tried one of my other remotes sure enough I could see the white light on the screen. Checked the batteries I had put them both in going same direction. Changed it up pointed at camera YAY! whiye light. Pointed at my roku worked great!

This remote is very light weight because it's pared down to two AAA batteries for one thing. At first I gave this a bad review saying you had to stand by the base for this to work, I was wrong. I have two different Rokus, the 3 and the new one that was over $100, this matches both without having to pair. You have to have the light beam on the puck pointing outward toward where you are sitting then the remote works like a charm. Yes, this is worth the price.

This is a good unit for the money. Only complaint is that buttons seem to need to be pressed each time you want to move around in a menu. In the official (Roku) controller I’m able to hold an arrow button down and it repeats until I take my finger off. Other that that it’s well worth the savings as opposed to OEM.
