My laptop came with a DVD drive, but admittedly it was the cheapest part of the computer. When I tried to use it for the first time, it simply did not work at all.
Despite being 2019, DVD drives are still occasionally needed to install drivers or just for the vast collection of DVD movies I have stored around. I consider it the equivalent of having a headphone jack these days since those seem to be dying out as well.
When I came across this DVD drive though, it was exactly what I was looking for! Not only does it connect to my laptop by USB (and work without issue), but it also has a USB Type-C connector that I can use for my phone! I think it's the perfect combination of older technology with modern gadgetry. I tried out an old federal financial aid DVD on it to test it out and it worked without any problems whatsoever. I also tried an old Carmen Sandiego game on it and that worked fine too. Definitely planning to use this in college whenever the internet inevitably goes down.
My new laptop didn't come with a CD/DVD drive, so needed an external drive to accommodate that need. This is a slim, easy to install, Plugnplay device, so no need for downloaded software. Firstly, I appreciate the simplicity and awesome looking design. I have been looking to buy an external DVD drive as my Mac doesn't have an option and I am very glad I found this. Couple of things I like the most are it has USB-C as well as USB(which is 3.0) and not needing to install any drivers. Works with my Mac perfectly without any issues. It has been designed so that you can keep the USB under the drive itself, so no hassle in storing it anywhere. Finally, you get a scratch card with the purchase which might fetch you an additional warranty which is great !!
I have the new MacBook Pro 2018 version, and I like to watch DVDs on it from time to time. This one is a lot better than my old one because it comes with a USB -C cable so now I don’t have to have the adapters plugged in. It also has a faster connection and makes a lot less noise! Happy with my purchase!
Recently my daughter gave her Old but relatively latest /Slim laptop as she switched to Mac. I have many CD which I constatly use and needed a CD/DVD drive and this is it. This product is very lightweight and was immediately recognized by Dell Inspiron Laptop. I was able to copy a CD data to hard drive. We can roll up the wire behind the cd drive when not in use. It’s obviously a Made in China product, but it does its job pretty well. The honeycomb pattern on the surface looks stunning. This little external drive is really light weighted, the body is made with plastic. This one doesn’t come with a case unfortunately. Underneath has a groove which fits USB Cable. One thing I like about is the plug-and-play function. No need to install driver, just plug USB-C or USB 3.0 slot and that’s it.
I needed this for some older software and games I felt like playing since my current computer does not have a cd drive. This plugged in and worked perfectly with no issues. It was also important to me that it was quiet when running the cd and indeed it was. Simply plug and use and it is pretty dependable. I haven’t used it as a DVD burner as I barely do that but it is a nice perk to have for those who do use it.
I love how the cable for this product stores neatly underneath the product itself! The device connected instantly to my computer and let me play discs, as advertised. I highly recommend this product.
Initially, by looking at the packing, I was a little scared if the product will be nice or not. But after using it for some time I should say that its a great value for money. I liked the design of the product and the USB c that comes with it.
This was definitely a wise purchase. It is well built, and is as fast as an internal burner. Not only does it have USB 3.0, but USB-C as well! Definitely recommend this if your computers burner goes out.
