Apple 12W USB Power Adapter (for iPhone, iPad)

Apple 12W USB Power Adapter (for iPhone, iPad)

I’ve read complaints of the product being fake due to the labels. Through research the labeling is a bit different depending on if it’s a 10 or 12W and the IPad Model that it is supporting. It is determined that the product is actually legit and certified. Now regarding the complaint with (California) spelled wrong is a different story and I don’t have that issue. You can pull up the labels on Forbes or apple. I attached a pic of what is identified to be official online and the product that I received and it is identical. (excuse my name labeling)

I bought this item here from Amazon, and I bought the supposedly same item (for $19) directly from Apple.

The two items delivered the same day, and the moment I removed them from their mailing sleeves, I immediately could no longer discern which was which. The box, the box's seal, the booklets inside the box, the plastic envelope around the product, the words printed on the product's two pieces, the font and color of the printing… it all matches exactly.

I only wish it was clear who is selling this item here on Amazon, and if they are an authorized dealer. I contacted Apple; the indicated they do not sell on Amazon, and they offered no authorized dealer on Amazon. So I guess I'll never know 100% that this item was in fact made by Apple.

So far it works okay, I just got a used ipad mini 2, all I had was an iphone charger to charge it, which took years to charge completely or if not at all. I had hoped that this one would charge it much faster, and it’s definitely better than using the iphone wallcharger. My ipad was at 68% at 5:30pm, and then at 78% around 6:15pm. I also had it on airplane mode. So 45 mins to get 10% is not bad I suppose. Maybe it could be better if I used a different cord as well? I will have to experiment. But anyway, it’s much better than not moving at all.

Apple has TWO different kinds of power adapters for its iPhones and iPads. Both of them can work on either an iPhone or an iPad. However, one of the power adapters -- the 12 WATT one I'm reviewing right now -- puts out more power, so it will charge your iPad 140% faster than using the other power adapter, which is weaker and puts out only 5 WATTS. And since the more powerful adapter will also charge your iPhone without damaging it, it's really the only one you need. WHY? Because the stronger (12 Watt) adapter will charge your iPhone just as adequately as the weaker (5 Watt) adapter -- AND it will ALSO charge your iPad 140% faster. So you're basically getting a two-for-the-price-of-one deal here.

I know I have an old IPhone 4 but it still works good. I haven't upgraded yet. It's hard to find these Apple accessories for the IPhone 4. My phone was taking too long to charge so I replaced the original charger with this one. It's great. Super fast now. I like that it's an official Apple product and not an imitation. Comes in a sealed Apple white box. Plus it's an upgraded 12w which works better than the 10w.
Shipped quickly and packaged well too. Thank you.

Just got these today so I don’t know if they work or not but I thought I’d post one of the big questions I had before buying. I was concerned that even though it said they were from Apple that they really were third-party knock offs. Opening the box, there were Apple logos on the container box, the package insert, and the charger itself. So unless somebody has infringed on the trademark, they look like real Apple products.

I've read several reviews that have questioned the authenticity of the Apple brand of this adapter. It gave me pause but I ordered it anyhow...it appears to be authentic. There's really not much one can say about an adapter. It works. It might be my imagination, but I wonder if it's as quick to charge as my old one. My use of this adapter coincided with my use of a different ipad so it's hard to tell. Could just be my impatience too.

This IS the only charger you want to purchase for your apple devices (iPhone 6,5s,5,IPad Air,IPad 2,etc.) rock solid and reliable. I deducted one star for two reasons... Both apply to overall value, apple has recently began transitioning to a new standard on their products called USB C which will be primarily supported by them in the beginning, and hopefully others will jump on board the standard. We see how well that worked out with thunderbolt... USB 2 was fine for charging mobile devices like phones and tablets... I know the new "standard" can deliver up to 100w which can power laptop computers, but that does not mean they should obsolete all my chargers just because some newfangled tech came along...

Also, why a $20 charger no longer includes a basic length cable is beyond me... That is ridiculous that a 1m Lightning cable is not included with the unit. It used to include both a cable and a AC plug extension at this same price... -1 star for poor value apple, I'm sorry 😁 That being said I own a handful of these and they work great.

I like the design of this recharging device that keeps the prongs of their recharger out of sight when not in use. This recharging device really cuts down on time needed for a full recharge. I bought several at once so they are on hand wherever / whenever needed. The unit design makes it easy to carry in purse or packet as well, keeping it in a convenient little square format with no visible electric prongs to get caught on things when carrying it around. Again: FAST recharging capabilities! Highly recommended and priced right so purchasing multiples is economical.

I have 2 of these because they are what Apple reccomends for the 6S. I recently returned a defective 5W charger for my 6S phone and got a warranty replacement at the Apple store- I showed the Apple salesman on their Ipad that when you go to the Apple store and order a charger for the 6S, they put the 12W charger in your cart, not the 5W one. Which is a tacit admission by Apple that the 5 watt charger is too small for these larger phones. These larger chargers do charge faster. I also think Apple needs to increase the wire gauge on their charger cords- I returned 2 failed cords and got 12 mo warranty replacements on them, too.
