This popcorn is nothing short of amazing. For those deciding their purchase based upon these reviews... allow me to explain what seems to be confusing some users on this forum: Yes, the picture for this ad shows liquified oil. Some complain that it is not liquid, but congealed and hard. Yeahhhh..... This is due to temperature, folks. Temperature! It is coconut oil... a saturated fat. That is well known to be the best for popcorn preparation. It is what movie theaters use, and that is what is used here. If your house/pantry's temperature is "below" the melting point, it WILL be somewhat hardened. Do NOT do what some here have done, and put it in the microwave. That's just silly; Why would someone melt oil in a microwave before melting it in a pan or popcorn machine?? (SMH) it will melt in the heat you pop your corn in. C'mon, people... Just liking cooking almost anything, you will be heating/melting it "before" you put in your corn. Imagine this like any other saturated fat, like, for example, butter. If it is at room temperature or cold, it is not liquified, but when you heat it up, it will be. As far as chewy popcorn, that is also "operator error"... Get your cooking device to the recommended temperature with your oil in, pop your corn, and enjoy.
I saw a lot of different reviews on here from bad to good, so here is my take. First, this popcorn tastes just like the movie theater. Its really good, just the right amount of salt and butter flavor. It pops real nice (not chewy) and mostly all of it pops. So my overall experience with it is excellent and we love it (note I also have a Great Northern popcorn machine which I am using it in)
So with that being said, here are a few things I read in previous review that I will address:
1. My packets came with the oil congealed and not in a liquid. I mashed up the oil with my fingers and squeezed it into the kettle. I turned the kettle on for 3-4 minutes until it was fully a liquid then I added the popcorn and salt. It comes out perfect.
2. With what I said above the freshness dates on the packages were all fine and had plenty of years left on them
3. I had no problems with burnt or chewy kernels
So all in all, great tasting popcorn! Love it!
When it comes to making popcorn, it doesn't get any simpler than this. This is an all-in-one kit for an 8oz popcorn popper. We use it in our 8oz Great Northern Popcorn machine.Everything is measured in the perfect amount so it takes the guesswork out of it for you. It has all 3 parts needed to make fabulous popcorn in one packet separated into compartments for ease of use. What I find works really well, is to take a pair of scissors and cut down the long side of the solidified "oil" and put the whole chunk in the warmed popper bucket until it melts. Then cut across the top of the packet so the kernels and seasoned salt come out together when you pour them in the popper bucket with the stirrer turned on. There's no spillage that way and it gets mixed really well and has an even color distribution on the popped corn. As for the popcorn itself, it is a good quality popcorn and usually, it pops probably 80% of the kernels, which compared to the microwave popcorn bags, I'd say is better than average with a lot better flavor! If you want that "movie theater butter flavor" this is all you need to use.
I own a business where as a treat, we offer customers and employees with popcorn 3 days a week. I do not like popcorn, and will not eat it at home or the movie theater. I have disliked it for all of my adult life. However, this popcorn is absolutely delicious!!! It is not like microwave or movie theater popcorn; it's SO much better. I can't describe the taste but to me it is buttery without tasting like heavy butter, it is salty without being overbearing, and pops very well in our machine. We purchased another brand by mistake awhile ago and it was terrible. We ended up throwing it away. We will not use any other popcorn. And just FYI, I still won't eat any other popcorn. This is the only one that I like the taste of!
I purchased a case of these popcorn supply kits for use with old-fashioned popcorn machines at my company's annual picnic. Each kit contains popcorn kernels, oil, and butter flavoring (each ingredient separated from the others, but in the same package, if that makes sense) - when you're ready to start, you simply snip off the top of the package and dump all three ingredients in. Super easy and no mess. I can't imagine a more ingenious way to do this! Made things quick and easy for us on such a busy day. Great product!

The taste was ok, but it is very salty. They all pop fine. Out of one 2.5 oz bag, only two kernels did not pop, but again, they are very salty.
Update: I can control the seasoning and the salt very easily after one experiment. I only put half of the seasoning (yellow powder mixed with the kernels) in the popper, and it comes out great. It tastes great when the amount of seasoning is controlled, and it won't be too salty. It can be as salty as you want it to be. Changing to 5 stars.
I see from some of the reviews and questions that there is some confusion over these popcorn packets, especially the "8 oz. Kettle" that is printed on the packets.
These portioned packets were designed for commercial and commercial-style popcorn machines. Think - "popcorn popper I see at the movie theater" type of machines. These types of popcorn machine have a kettle that is a certain size - 4 oz, 6 oz, 8 oz, 10 oz, etc. These particular packets are designed to be used in 8 oz kettles.
While these packets were not designed for common household popcorn poppers, you certainly could use them. However, if you don't have a Stir-Crazy or other small popper that has a stirring rod, the seasoning is not going to be evenly distributed and it's not going to taste like theater popcorn.
A note about the oil in the packets: It is coconut oil. Coconut oil is by far the best oil to use in popcorn machines, and it has a melting point around 70F. So, at your house, depending on the indoor temperature, the oil in these packets may be liquid, it may be solid, or something in between. That does not mean there is anything wrong with the oil.
This popcorn, when cooked properly, is amazing. It will not be chewy or stale or any other sub-par taste some people have written about. Remember, these portioned packets are designed for commercial poppers that have kettles with stirring rods. If you don't have that kind of popper, you probably can't expect the optimum taste and texture from the popped corn.
I have a West Bend Stir-Crazy popcorn popper and to have everything pre-measured is a great idea. Simply cut the top off the package, dump everything into the West Bend Stir-Crazy and it will mix it up for you. It makes the perfect amount and it's the closest thing to theater popcorn that I have found. Been trying to do it by hand, by each individual ingredient, measuring it out, experimenting and trying again. All the work is done for me here and at about 95% less cost then the theater. Add some Orville Redenbacher butter flavored oil topping (just like you do at the theater), and then Netflix and chill baby!!!
I have a Great Northern stovetop popcorn popper (the kind that's like a saucepan with a crank on the handle), but it wasn't until a year or two later that I tried using it with these pre-measured Great Northern packs. I'd used this or a similar product with an electric popcorn popper (the kind you might set up at a community event or in a church youth room) and figured the slightly-smaller packs would be just as good, and they are. I use the 2.5 ounce packs, which are a little more than I want on my own (although I usually end up finishing the batch). They'd probably be ideal for two people.
There is some popcorn salt packaged with the kernels, so be aware of this if you planned to use some salty shake-on flavoring after you pop. You could probably cut a tiny hole in the corner of the bag and pour out the popcorn salt (saving it for another time) if you were dead-set on adding some salty flavor sprinkle and didn't want a salt overload.
The instructions say to add the entire package to the kettle at once. In my case, I usually add the coconut oil first and give it a chance to melt and coat the bottom of the kettle before I dump the popcorn in. I don't know that this makes any difference.
Anyway, this is quality popcorn, especially when used with a good, vented popcorn popper. You will get crispier popcorn than in the microwave or in a saucepan with a tightly-fitting lid.
We recently purchased a popcorn maker and needed an easy way to make sure our popcorn turned out perfect each time. I loved the All-N-One packets! No measuring. No mess. No running out of the ingredients. You literally cut the top, pour, and away you go to making a great tasting batch of popcorn.
I ordered the 2.5 oz kettle pack. For our popcorn maker I discovered I could have ordered a bigger one, but it works great. We can easily have our family eat a batch with the amount made. The nice part is we can make it nightly if we want since so many packs came in our box.
I know some say it’s super salty. I would say it definitely has salt, but I’m a fan of it. We didn’t find it too overpowering and will definitely be ordering more when we run out.
