Gold Medal Prod. 2045 Flavacol Seasoning Popcorn Salt 35oz.

This delicious product dramatically enhances the popcorn experience, at the cost of only 114% of your daily sodium intake per teaspoon. I am happily eating my life away thanks to this tantalizing product at the fraction of cost of the movie theater experience.

*Please note that the image attached to the product for scale is not the most helpful. As someone deeply concerned about the clearance of their seasoning products, I was unsure based on the stock photo that the carton would truly be 9.1". The issue stems from the shortsightedness of unknown human being for scale. We do not know if the reference image is a 7 foot tall person, a 4 foot tall person, or anywhere in between; and as such cannot really ascertain the validity of the 9.1" product specification claim from the aforementioned image. I have attached my own image of the product so that future buyers can more accurately assess the 9.1" container clearance claim. I am exactly 5 foot 7 inches.

Not that I know what being addicted to crack is, but I imagine this is what it is like.

*Update July 2018*
I've realized that the paper box, which has the same feel as a paper milk carton, was slowly starting to sag and bulge a bit near the bottom. The box gets pulled out of the pantry cabinet about every other day because my kids just love popcorn so much, and all this handling over the past several months was also causing a bit of wear and tear on the box. I could just see that at some point a seam on the box would fall apart and there would be a mound of bright yellow-orange powdered salt all over the floor. So I've transferred to contents to a glass jar with one of those latching lids that you can buy at Wallyworld for about $3. The flavoring still is great, but now in a more durable and worry-free container! Also interesting to note is that even after several months of use, I haven't noticed any clumping of the powder. It worries me a bit, wondering what magical concoction of chemicals is preventing that from happening, but I just keep telling myself "this is healthier than microwave popcorn" and just go about enjoying yet another delicious bowl of popcorn.

This Flavacol is the secret to making movie theater popcorn at home. That, and colored coconut oil. If you want your popcorn to have that random yellow/orange tint to it, make sure you use the coconut oil with beta carotene in it. Otherwise, with uncolored coconut oil you still get delicious movie theater popcorn, but it's mostly whitish natural colored popcorn... which, at least for my kids, means it's not the same thing, no matter how awesome and authentic it tastes. One side of the Flavacol box has advice on making more profit with popcorn, and states that my sales will increase if I say this popcorn is the "Specialty of the House." I tried telling my kids that but my kids still aren't convinced.

Multiple recipes and instructions on how of much of this to use are abound and also printed on the box itself, so I won't go into my ratios, but I will advise to use sparingly as this is a salt bomb and just a little too much can take you to lip-tingling and mouth-puckering dehydration-city in a heartbeat.

This salt has butter flavoring in it, so if you mix it in the oil, the salt and butter flavor gets spread evenly throughout your batch. The artificial colors and flavors in Flavacol is a little worrisome, but I'm sure it's nowhere as bad as the stuff in microwave popcorn.

Like others have said, unless you run an actual theater, one 35 oz box should last a lifetime. We've been making popcorn almost nightly for about a couple weeks and haven't made much of a dent on how much of this stuff is left.

As a previous movie theatre worker (with a mother who loves theatre popcorn), this was a lifesaver for when I switched jobs. After countless trips to my old workplace to pick up some popcorn for my mom when she had her weekly craving, I decided it would be easier (and cheaper) to buy the two main ingredients and show her how she could make it on her stove. Coconut oil and flavacol (exactly what we used at the theatre) are the "secret" to that fresh-popped movie theatre taste. I was actually quite impressed with what she created, too. The popcorn she made tasted just like the stuff I scooped for seven years! Furthermore, since so little is required per batch (we used one tablespoon per kettle), this stuff will last forever and is cheaper than a medium bag at a theatre.

Deliciously unhealthy. Zero carbs, just boatload of sodium in a flavorful delivery system. Box does leak, so be sure to either reinforce it with tape or transfer to a container. I wouldn't worry about the container being airtight, as this stuff is just 99.9% sodium. Combine with a butter-like substance and you're good to go. Note that I wrote butter-like substance, and not butter. This yellow dust is for people who want the movie theater experience minus the sticky floors. This is not for the gourmet types. If you're one of them, put some pink himalayan sea salt and grass-fed Kerrygold on your popped corn. No... Flavacol is for people who just want their popcorn to taste salty and delicious. Can't beat Flavacol for that.
Enjoy!

Flavacol can be your secret ingredient to sell more popcorn! Provides great taste and color for maximum sales appeal. The fine salt flakes stick to the popcorn, whereas a ground salt will tend to fall off. Contains just the right blend of Yellow #5 and #6 colors to give popcorn a bright appealing yellow color. (35 oz carton)

I bought this for making my own homemade microwave popcorn. Into a microwave safe popping bowl put 1 1/2 Tbsp coconut oil, 1/3 cup popping corn and 1/2 teaspoon Flavacol, stir until well blended, microwave for 3 minutes or so until the corn quits popping, I then pour it into a cooler bowl and top with melted butter YUM YUM!!! I used to buy Morton's super fine popcorn salt but not anymore. My husband noticed right away how since I started microwaving verses my stove top whirleypop that the popcorn has way less hulls. I recommend this flavoring to all for popcorn.

I use to work at a movie theatre. This is the exact brand and flavor we used on our corn. Use this in the oil while popping the corn. For those who like it saltier I keep a salt shaker of it around as well to add on after. At the movie theatre we used it with the oil and corn and added some with a shaker on the top after it was popped as well. I have tried many other types and different brands but they didn't taste right. This one is the real deal. Their kettle corn flavor is good too.

For a lower calorie option. Pop corn in an air popper. Spray corn with an oil mister or spray on some cooking spray, next sprinkle on THIS butter salt and you have awesome corn without nearly the calories of normal popcorn.

This stuff is great. It definitely takes popcorn to another level combined with coconut oil. I've used an air popper as well as microwave popcorn (for convenience) but may never use either of them again. Just followed a recipe listed here on Amazon and voila. I usually put melted butter on my popcorn but so far my first 2 batches I have not felt the need since this tastes a little buttery as it is. Maybe the next batch. Let's put it this way, my girlfriend would usually only have a small amount of any other popcorn, even one she made herself using oil in a pan. I'm the big popcorn enthusiast. I made this popcorn and she has become a believer. In fact I may have to make all the popcorn from here on. Definitely tastes like movie theater as others have said. Just don't overdue the Flavacol because it could make it quite salty.

I bought a shaker to use with it and quickly realized it is NOT that kind of salt, lol. It is a buttery-flavored STRONG salt.

You put 1/2 TEAspoon of Flavacol in with 1tablespoon coconut oil (NO MORE than 3/4 TEAspoon of Flavacol & only that much if you like an EXTREME FREAKISH amount of salt), Melt for a few seconds then add 1/3 to 1/2 cup popcorn (if microwave popper hit "popcorn setting" in the microwave & "add 30 seconds").

The chances of a normal person or couple using the whole carton in a lifetime is doubtful to me, and I am not shy of having the full movie theatre popcorn experience! A little goes a LONG way.

Wow this is the real deal. Use coconut oil 1-3 Tablespoons 1 teaspoon flavacol and 1/2 cup of popcorn. You can use 1 1/2 tsp flavacol for the super salty movie theater experience but I found 1 tsp is enough for me. You must add the flavacol with the oil and popcorn kernels in your popper...I suggest the hand cranked popcorn popper. So good. I used to need to put butter on my popcorn now it comes out perfect and ready to eat, no need for more seasoning.
