I edit video often and wanted the ability to work with Adobe Premier Pro and other resource intensive software while out and about. I still use my desktop when I can, but this works great while away. Wanted a decent GPU for productivity and gaming, the GTX 1060 works well. The battery lasts a long time with basic browsing, productivity, and playback tasks, but encoding and games can kill it in about an hour. The bezels and overall size are large, but at the price I understand. Sturdy build and an acceptable keyboard. Plenty of ports for what I do. It wouldn't fit into my current laptop backpack, it has been hard to find something to fit it. I like the fact that it looks professional, many other similar laptops would look silly in a work setting. Overall I am very pleased.
This laptop feels very durable. The keyboard is lit, which is nice, and you can change the settings on it for how bright, and when it goes dim. Opening the back cover is done with much eases, only takes 1 screw to do it. There are 2 dimm slots for RAM, 1 slot for the M.2 drive (which is usually taken as the OS drive), and a storage drive. I did manage to upgrade the ram on it and I highly recommend doing that. It's a 64bit os, so either max out the ram at 32gb, or at least go with 16gb. With laptops, I don't tend to worry about ram compatibility too much, but check out other reviewers, do direct searches in the reviews for "ram", "ram upgrade" etc. I did do an upgrade on the HD as well. Get an SSD on a sale, at least 1tb is good. Hell I may even upgrade the OS m.2 drive at some point. 256gb feels a little thin.
The graphics are VERY nice with the nividia 1060. However, you will want to use this card at it's full potential when it is plugged in with the adapter. That's a no brainer. It does throttle by default, your 1060 won't perform as well when it's on battery, it's just how these work with laptops. It needs more power to drive it harder and make it look/perform better, you need the voltage to do that! It performs meh on battery performance wise, but plugging it in is where it truly shines.
The screen is nice, it's a satin screen so you don't have the glare that the glossy screens have.
I haven't loaded or played some of the modern hits on this thing, because I don't own them, so I can't speak for the next gen games. Runs WoW like a pro (ok we know it's not THAT demanding of a title, but still). It's got quite the card in here, just run it with the adapter if you are gonna push the settings a little bit more, otherwise this thing is quite the mid-range budge gaming laptop. I haven't been that much of a fan for Dell in the past, but they did it right with this thing.
I got this laptop when it was on sale. Although the gpu is the GTX1060 max q, the gpu will still be able to play most mordern games in mid to high settings in full 60 fps. I play alot of jrpg games and so far every single one of them have been running smoothly at 60 fps. The thermals are decent and the only part that gets hot is where the heat sink intertwines, in the middle, but its not hot as to where they burn your fingers. The cpu is the current gen (i5 8th gen) and is a lot faster than the last (I don't really do any cpu intensive things so I'm not much help there). The laptop itself is a bit wide and kind of heavy, but that doesn't really bother me as much.
I mostly use this device to play rainbow six siege and honestly I have to say that it can run the game pretty well. For optimal performance I prefer turning every quality/graphics setting either to low or completely off, except keeping the antroscopic thing at 16x and texture quality at medium. The other settings don't really change the way the game looks enough to warrant the fps drop, especially on such a small screen. Maybe if you get a monitor like I am you could consider turning the LOD to medium and/or the shading quality to medium. With the settings I have and v-sync turned off of course (this reduces input lag with the addition of noticeable but honestly manageable screen tearing) in multiplayer I was able to manage an average of 120 fps ------- typically between like 110-140 fps at times unless my connection just sucked ass or I was playing for severalllll hours (4+ straight or something)
p.s. for r6 players using this laptop I would also recommend the razer deathadder elite and a steel series mousepad -- that's what I use; also get Malwarebytes to scan for viruses. It's great and fast. Also I recommend sticking with edge as it is faster but it's honestly just personal preference
My experience with my particular unit:
Overall, I really like this product. For the price I got: $800 + tax it has great great value. However, I bought it used-very good and even though the device should have otherwise worked perfectly, it didn't. It couldn't connect to the internet and when I was setting up the laptop everything sounded rather squeaky. I contacted dell, got set up with an agent, who then directed me (pretty well) towards resetting my device. Unfortunately, I had to try to finish up the fix the next day because dell support hours were closing soon. Even more unfortunate was the fact that the laptop froze mid reset. The next day I waited until I was supposed to be called and basically was told during that time that dell was closed = I couldn't fix my laptop then and had to try the next day. I decided screw it and forced the laptop to shut down. It restarted but failed but the you're pc ran into a problem screen got it to work, and I reconfigured it no problem. Everything seemed fine until I disconnected from the internet and found that I could no longer detect networks again. My screen also turned black for a period of 2-3 seconds twice. Fortunately, restarting the device and updating most of everything seemed to fix roughly every issue I had. My only current issue is that the speakers still at times sound squeaky ---- this only seems to arise in very very rare circumstances like just now when I tried to get the you're not a robot key from amazon spoken aloud to me from my speakers. Furthermore, the speakers themselves sometimes don't work. I need to restart the device to get the laptop speakers and the voice recognition software to work properly --- hopefully I can figure out a fix soon ---- I check my system settings and everything should be working normally ---- the device is at default and the laptop says it is working properly.
Overall, despite the issues which delayed me from using the laptop for about a day and despite the issues that still persist, granted that I got this laptop for roughly $150 less than a brand-new one and the fact that I think I can ultimately fix the speakers, it's alright with me. HOWEVER (CAPS FOR EMPHASIS) I LEARNED THAT WHEN BUYING TECHNOLOGY SUCH AS THIS ONLINE TO NOT BUY USED UNLESS IT IS CERTIFIED REFURBISHED OR LIKE NEW STATUS -------- THEIR DESCRIPTIONS DONT TELL EVERYTHING
It is a good laptop with decent performance. A little heavier than expected. My only complain is for receiving the wrong power cord (received the European version, not the US version). I need to use a plug adapter to charge this computer.

Description
15-inch gaming laptop with high-performance graphics. Featuring the latest Intel processors and optimal cooling for uninterrupted gameplay.
The specs of this laptop are excellent for the price. GTX 1060 (albeit the inferior mobile version), i5 8300, and ssd with hd. Aesthetically, the laptop isn't the prettiest, but it isn't gaudy either.
The biggest flaw with this laptop is the display. Maximum brightness is relatively low and the color gamut and display quality lead to washed out images. It is still better than a poor tn or something, but for an ips panel, the screen is substantially worse than my desktop monitor or phone screen. Granted, you can only get so much at this price point and overall I am happy with my purchase.
Overall it's good, but the thermals leave a lot to he desired. I'm somewhat concerned about the longevity of this laptop when it regularly hits 90c in gaming loads.
Exactly what I needed.
