These monitors are great. I’ve had one for close to 4 years now and it’s still a spectacular monitor for the money, in fact it’s so good I’ve just bought a second one and am contemplating buying a couple more for another computer. I’ve use high end Dell monitors that cost much more than these and I often find myself wishing I was using these instead. They’re HD 1080p resolution, have an ascetically pleasing thin gloss black frame, have standard VESA mounting, and have VGA, HDMI and DVI inputs. For the majority of users that’s everything you need and these frequently have rebates that bring the pricing to unbeatable levels (although the rebates does take months to arrive). I also bought my first monitor used from Amazon Warehouse Deals at a good discount and it arrived in perfect condition with merely an opened box (was probably just a return) so even if you’re skeptical of used electronics, it might be worth giving it a try. The only thing that is subpar about these monitors is the stock stand. It’s actually terrible. It squeaks like crazy if you shift the monitor at all, has no height adjustment and only minimal tilt adjustment. However, this is far from a deal killer as this monitor has a VESA mount which means that any cheap monitor mount on Amazon will fit it and be a huge improvement over the stock stand. You can even get a nice dual mount if you’ll be running multiple screens. After 4 years this is still just as good a deal as when I first bought it, the specs are competitive with newer screens, and it doesn’t seem dated. I highly recommend these screens; just make sure to purchase an aftermarket VESA mount at the same time. Even with that added expense, these are still an excellent deal compared to similar monitors.
Pros: Excellent 1080p resolution, good color saturation, fast 2ms response time, easy to read matte screen, cheap price, nice looking and thin, VESA mount, lots of input options
Cons: cheap and flimsy stock stand
I have 2 of these and probably going to order a 3rd. I didn't order them at the exact same time as others are blaming the new design to cause a "yellow tint". I had this "yellow tint" and washed color issue due to the cables, graphics card, and KVM that I use so I fixed the issue via software.
For those who read the negative reviews about this yellow tint... This is more than likely caused by the cables, graphics card, or other device in between. I confirmed it by simply switching the cables... A very simple debugging task that takes seconds to perform rather than simply blaming the manufacturer...
I'm writing this review to clear up some of the confusion that I had read with people who didn't do this simple debugging task and blame the monitor and go through the whole replacement process. I'm trying to educate and inform those who are looking to buy this monitor that the specific "yellow tint" is a cable / port issue which can be corrected by software.
If you are going to convert say HDMI to VGA, make sure that the reviews are solid. I had ordered a new adapter and it cause more of a yellow tint. Plugged the other adapter back in and it was back to normal. Also I had another video card that by default didn't have this issue. It was a cheapo fanless Geforce 210 that had DVI and VGA. My new GTX 750 Ti caused the HDMI + VGA to have a "yellow tint" which was easy to correct.
I got this gem for 89$ after a 20$ rebate from Asus. How can you go wrong with 24 inches Asus for 89$??!! Came yesterday and I immediately hooked it up.
Packaging - The monitor in Asus box is very well packaged, Amazon put it in a MUCH bigger box with stuffing's and made it very secure for shipping.
-Assembly -Took all of 30 seconds to pull out the round-ish plate desktop stand and attach to the neck stand already part of the monitor. To my surprise, the plate had a nice size bolt in it with a flat blade screwdriver slot..but...there is a small swivel handle attached to the bolt, lift it up and you simply use it to turn the bolt and attach plate to neck, then fold swivel back down and its good to go! All of 30 seconds, incredibly nice touch for such an inexpensive monitor.
Picture - Not what I expected here, there are 4 or 5 preset you get by pushing thru one button. For displaying windows it looks perfect on any setting, absolutely no issues there but then I put in a DVD movie and also tested on Amazon Prime and Netflix. I don't know who came up with these values for each but they are all terrible, 3 of them make the monitor look all washed out like a VHS tape from late 70's and the other 2, Scenery and Theater I think add some color but they are over contrast and saturated, yet though after watching a movie for a bit on the Scenery it didn't seem so bad. But they really do stink. I suggest you do what I did, go thru the menu system and write down the color - contrast.- brightness settings for each, find one that's close to what you can stomach and then adjust to your taste. After that I was happy. The instructions are terrible, just a description of the specific function for each and then their functions for operating the menu system. I say they are terrible because they did only that , and there is no explanation for terminology or what other things meant in the menu, I no newbie, I'll look on the web site for better explanation of "slpendid" or "splendor" some auto control you can mess with I think? Not a real big hit though.
Features & Stuff - I was very surprised to see that with the power cable a VGA and DVI cable was included. There is no HDMI cable though, I wasn't expecting any and the VGA and DVI is a big plus for a budget monitor. (henforce implies VGA, DVI HDMI inputs). The stand besides having the nifty swivel screw in device will also allow you to till it up and down a good amount and it stays in place nicely, not like other junk monitors that just slump down and stay there. VESA mounts, a shocker at this level as other name brand pricier monitors do not include this. There is also a head phone jack which is supper nice feature, its audio from HDMI. That's great because all speakers on monitors really stink, just read any review of one that has them, so rather than drive up cost and waste money on features you can use, Asus puts it to a high quality head phone interface the you can then use your headphones or send a wired or wireless signal to your GOOD speakers. For control there are 5 buttons on lower right underneath, for power, contrast, brightness, menu and something else I cant remember, and then a function for menu control. The menu is quite extensive allows you alot of control and you can also adjust audio from there, a place not easy to regularly get to so set just once and then use your source or your speakers to adjust. If you are driving speakers do not set this to the highest level, set it to mid at most, as the higher you go the more distortion you will get, this is true and same concept of amp and pre-amp let the amp do the bulk of work. 2ms is very fast, and unexpected again for this proce point, but I'm not a gamer but it will be a noticeable feature in action movies which I watch alot.
Other Thoughts - So despite my comments on the pre-sets I love this monitor ! 24 inches, tons of room for all the windows I have open for engineering and a big screen to watch movies and your 16:9 pictures and home videos will look like never before on these. A tilt-able stand - vesa mount supports, 3 video ports - audio and Asus quality all for 89$ It's a no brainer, even the 109$ is more than worth it. I will probably get another. One word of reviewers who complain about picture quality - spend more money and get a better monitor, being so picky about video quality here is like buying a 4 cylinder 110hp engine and complaining that you can't keep up with a 754 hp Dodge Hellcat. My eyes are crappy anyway so there is no need to buy a high end monitor, even if you have good eyes you will love this monitor.
I bought this monitor as a secondary for my home office setup since I was tired of squinting at a dinky laptop screen. I had another 24" ASUS monitor that I love and wanted a dual monitor setup with the same size monitors. My old ASUS had been discontinued so I thought this one would be similar. Unfortunately, the difference between them couldn't be more apparent. While the screen size is the same, the border is much wider on the new one which makes it seem larger. When I first plugged it in and had the computer recognize the dual screen, it was obvious that the colors were way off. The yellow tint that other reviewers have complained about was there. I used the monitors' menu settings to get them as close as possible but there is so much bleed-through from the backlight that the new one is still brighter and the blacks are not as deep as the older one. I did notice the next day that the yellow tint had vanished so I don't know what that was all about. I'm not a perfectionist so I'm not going to go through the trouble of boxing the thing up and sending it back just because the blacks aren't a true black. It does the job and it's much better than staring at a tiny laptop monitor with my aging eyes.
No problems so far. Has an incredibly flimsy stand, so I deducted a star for that. But everything else is performing as expected. Using the DVI port to connect to my computer. Response times are great, resolution is great. Wish the brightness would go lower, as it's very bright even on the lowest setting - I also could not find an 'eye-saver' setting which I like to use. The border is gloss black and not matte black, which can be a bit distracting and looks kind of tacky. But for a monitor under $100, it's great. Would recommend.

ASUS VS247H-P - 23.6" 1920x1080 Full HD - Slim Form Factor with Built-in Power Adapter - Corporate Stable Model and EPEAT Gold Certified - LED Backlight with 50,000,000:1 ASCR. Response time for monitor is 2ms.
Bought the first one in December of 2015, right when I got my gaming PC. I had no issues with the pixels or light bleed, although after a year I see the slightest amount of bleed on the vertical edges of the older monitor. It's barely noticeable though, and it has had no effect on my ability to use the monitor.
Bought the second one this week, and as you can see, I have no issues with it. This is the setup 20 minutes after I opened the package.
I haven't had the yellow tint issue either time, or dead pixels, or bad light bleed. The new monitor matches the color and one of the first, and I'm more than a little pleased with my new second monitor. It was a warm welcome into gaming 2017 style. For video editing? Ehh, you can find something better, absolutely. For gaming or general use? I couldn't recommend more.
I was using a single Samsung 22" LCD (S22B310) for years and wanted a multi monitor setup with slightly larger monitors, better response time, and at least 2x digital connections per monitor. I needed to be able to connect 2x computers to them and switch inputs built in (KVM's for 2x computer 6x outputs are expensive and rare). I have my personal main desktop used for gaming, productivity (office, video and photo editing, etc) and watching videos. I also have a Asrock N3150 Beebox I am using to remote connect to work (low power, vesa mount and 3x digital video outs built in).
At the price I am very happy with these ($129, $109 with rebate on 2...will update re: rebate). On paper they are perfect, 2ms response, 24", 1080p, hdmi and dvi connections, no power brick, standard power cables.
In use they arent perfect but fit my needs and I would buy them again. First the colors at the stock out of the box settings are washed out a bit. The built in presets for color profiles are nice but only 2 of them i found to get the color pretty good. The bezel is a little thicker than id have liked for a triple monitor setup (and vs some more expensive offerings from ASUS), but its not a deal breaker for me. The stands not as terrible as some reviewers mention but also not great. The biggest issue i have with built in stands is that side by side they vary enough to notice (about 1/8 inch or less shorter or taller vs each other on a level desk). I plan on getting a triple monitor vesa stand any way so not the end of the world.
The good is that for a bit over $300 I get 3x 1080p monitors with hdmi and dvi connections. At 24" they make my old 22" monitor seem puny. The response time is great, doubt i could tell the difference between 2ms vs 1ms. Color/brightness once calibrated is great and the viewing angles arent bad. With this setup i went from needing to switch between all of my open stuff to wondering how im gonna use all the screen real estate.
If you only game, a larger 2560x1440 or even 4k monitor is probably gonna be better (most games dont work well with 5760x1080, mostly FPS benefits). However the space to work with for productivity is awesome.
I was originally looking at the ASUS VN247H-P but for the extra $150ish total it wasnt worth it for me. If built in speakers, dual hdmi, 1ms response and a thinner bezel are important to you though they are likely a good step up.
My main desktop runs a GTX 660Ti and some games like Batman AO (30-50fps) and Diablo 3 (50-60fps) are very playable at basically max settings. Other games like Star Citizen are likely not going to be enjoyable without me upgrading my GPU (waiting for the new pascal GPU's in 2016).
Lastly, built quality seems great. 3 monitors and not 1 dead pixel. Packaging was good. I also like that they come with what seems like a excellent warranty, of course only time will tell if they deliver on the promise...which i hope to never need.
I have 2 of these monitors currently. They were bought years apart. I love these monitors. There is a slight backlight bleed on the edges but under normal use you will barely notice it.
As a gamer the thing I look for in the reviews is whether or not there are comments about ghosting. I'm happy to announce that these monitors do not have any noticeable ghosting even when playing first person shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield.
23.6 - 24 inch monitors are the perfect size of a monitor that is about a foot and a half from your eyes. The pixel density is just enough that you do not notice individual pixels on your screen.
The only gripe I have with this monitor is that when cleaning I somehow peeled off part of the Asus logo and its kind of sticking out and it gets caught whenever I try to wipe the monitor.
PROS:
- No noticeable ghosting
- Great pixel density
- Vivid Colors
- Vesa mount compatible
- Wide viewing angle
- Stable stand
CONS:
- Menu navigation could be better
- Thick frame

This is decent. I don't use for anything but my second monitor on my gaming rig. I originally got this for twitch so I could have my obs streaming options and stuff on another screen and it worked great. Its been a while since I've done that cause of PC issues. This is a okay screen for some light gaming and viewing the internet / working etc. I would not recommend it for gaming though as I would recommend something with a 1 ms response time, it makes a difference a big difference in gaming. This screen doesn't have anything that stands out from others it's just a nice monitor. I do like the back of it pretty thin d it does not collect dust like my other Asus I use for gaming. The swivle at the bottom is a standerd one i don't really like that to much but that's because right next to it the gaming one has up and down and tilt which is great for a standerd stand. The gaming monitor by Asus I am talking about I believe it's called VG24 something something but it's a 1ms response and 144 refresh rate so I recommend checking it out if your wanting a gaming monitor or just look up 1ms 144hrtz monitor cause there's probobly better ones now!
The left monitor.
This is a slightly upgraded version of my other monitor so I knew what to expect. It's crisp and clear, not much to say except that and I love it. It was packed very securely, no chance of damage. Came with a DVI cable - an HDMI cable would have been a nice inclusion.
There is one little problem/feature a buyer should be aware of. The monitor's built-in menu allows you to select input from HDMI, DVI or VGA. Be careful never to switch to an input unless you have something that can actually connect to that input, because if there is no active input the monitor immediately goes into standby mode and the menu button stops working until you do connect something to that input.
If you intend to use the monitor on two computers and switch back and forth, before you shut down or disconnect the active computer you have to remember to switch the monitor over to the other one first, because you won't be able to do this after disconnecting the active one.
