Sceptre E165W-1600HC E 16" Screen LED-Lit Monitor, True Black (E165W-1600HC)

Sceptre E165W-1600HC E 16

UPDATE: I've been using this monitor 5 days a week for about 4 months and I am still in love with it. I've not had one bit of trouble with it. The color is better on this monitor than it is with my company issued laptop. I love that I can pop off the foot of the stand and put it right in my computer bag for travel! Exactly what I was looking for!!!

So far so good. I've been using it for just a few days. I connect to my PC with the VGA cable that is included with it and I purchased a HDMI cable to connect to my Mac. Works like a charm with both. I work from home but travel a lot so I needed something small and portable. This fits the bill. Now if it will only hold up. I will update my review if I run into any issues with it.

It's pretty good for the price, everything works flawlessly without a hitch. I use this for a cheap gaming setup where I can connect my PS4 or my Switch on my desk, colors are a bit washed out but with a little tweaking of the settings it gets better. Don't expect too much out of this though, I think the best way to describe it is, "it just works."

If you're on a budget this is definitely a pretty good option.

I was tired of 2 larger monitors, one in landscape and one in portrait, overwhelming my work space, so I bought this much small monitor to use as the secondary screen. I wanted to install it in portrait mode on my dual-monitor VESA stand, which was a key factor in my selecting this model. However, the installation instructions in the manual say that this can only be used in landscape orientation because any 90-degree clockwise or counter-clockwise installation "may induce poor ventilation and successive component damage." So, that rather defeated the game plan - I now have a big landscape and a small landscape and the space saved on my desk is negligible. I won't be sending this monitor back but did want to alert other potential buyers.

Stand basically has to be ripped off the back though to install a different mount.
I dont know the name of the setting but turing up the brightness allows for better viewing at an angle. Settings are hard to navigate, buttons dont seem to do what they say for adjusting & moving between settings.

We will see how bad the burn is in time I suppose. For this price, and their single minded purpose though, I dont really care.

I am using this with a Surface Pro 4. I love the SP4 screen but many times it is nice to have a second monitor when moving files around or working with calendars and email at the same time. However, I want to hook up the second monitor wherever I am rather than having to go to my office. This monitor is VERY light. I find the size great as companion to my SP4. I was afraid that I would find the resolution disappointing. I actually find it is fine for spreadsheets, docs, calendars etc. If I am doing photo work, I have the SP4 screen, which is hard to beat.

Description

Take in all the clarity and stunning color of 720P all on a compact and thin 16" screen. With HD resolution, HDMI, and VGA port, the E165W-1600W provides all of superior features that are usually reserved for larger monitors.

So I noticed that all the portable HDMI monitors suck. GeChi is the only decent one at 15.6 inches but wayyy over priced. I bought it for $380 last year and it lasted about 3 and a half months before it just stopped working! So I said to myself why not buy a regular 16 inch hdmi monitor and use it as a portable one! This one worked great. You can unscrew the backing. Then use an iPad stand, I got for like $13 which holds it perfectly. And now you can use it where ever you please. I bought a 17 inch laptop sleeve for like 15 bucks to hold it in. So in total I spent about 100. And for sound you can plug your auxillary cord in it and attach to any speaker. Small or large.
I was on a plane the other day. The plane had a plug on the seats in front of you. So I took out the iPad stand and this monitor and plugged it up and watched a movie I had downloaded free from Amazon prime. Then I switched the HDMI to my phone and had games looking so nicely on the screen. I pulled out my blue tooth Xbox controller and began to play. Ppl were amazed. Like wow look at that set up. I was about to pull out the Xbox and play right there on the plane, but it was in the overhead bin, and I was in a window seat so I didn't want to make 2 ppl move just to get it. But yes, this monitor comes in handy for gaming and watching anything that has HDMI.

I bought two and installed as permanent "picture frames" on our wall, each running a picture frames on wall screen saver from ONE computer. Used an old MacMini I had, loaded a folder with favorite pictures, and hung these monitors on wall with hidden HDMI cables going in to each one coming from the SAME Macmini computer by Apple. See back of MacMini, it has an HDMI port AND a mini display port which can also act as the 2nd monitor port. So it just runs a cool "picture frame" screen saver of hundreds of our favorite family photos 24x7x365. It is in permanent screen saver mode and just keeps on running and running and running. 4 weeks straight now, so far so good! The computer is just left on the whole time. Can update pictures at any time through the wireless connection, and load more pictures into screen saver folder if I want to. Looks really nice on the wall, and these monitors do the job EXCELLENT!

I use this monitor as an extended display from my laptop to hold tool menus when I'm using various programs so my regular monitor can be dedicated entirely to displaying primary content. For example, the Team Explorer/ Solution Explorer from Visual Studio, or menus from Blender, might go to this monitor. I don't use it for gaming or watching TV or any sort of motion video. The reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because the monitor has 1 pixel that is always red all of the time no matter what... it just came that way. Usually I don't notice it at all though. I like the auto-adjust feature that for the screen that will automatically position content appropriately, it does a good job. The controls are easy to use.

I use this as a monitor for my computer, and it’s great. I bought another one some years back, and after the predictable 5 or 6 years it just gave up. I read the reviews so, I was all set to have it go to sleep on me after 30 seconds but, it didn’t, in fact it just takes a shake of the mouse and it wakes right up! And it’s ajustable—my old one wasn’t, in fact I had to put it atop a book to get it to the right height. It’s very easy to set up, reliable—I got it in Februry and am just now writing a review (6 months later).

I got this just to use as a camera monitor for my Canon T6i, when shooting episodes of GearGasms, which is my YouTube channel. You can see it in the bottom right of the pic I took of the set, I attached, showing what the Canon is seeing. I just turn it towards me when I'm shooting myself and it's a lot easier to keep an eye on the shot while I am filming - helps me keep the shot framed well and monitor the focus. The color is okay but I'm not using it for anything but a working monitor for camera work. For that purpose, you can't beat it. I've been using it for a couple of weeks with no issues.
