ReelSonar CGG-MY-IBOBBER iBobber Wireless Bluetooth Smart Fish Finder for iOS and Android devices.

ReelSonar CGG-MY-IBOBBER iBobber Wireless Bluetooth Smart Fish Finder for iOS and Android devices.

Two years ago I did research on all the portable castable fish finders on the market before settling on this one. Price point and features were big for me in deciding on the ibobber. It does what it claims and marks fish, depth, and water temperature accurately. Some of the other nice features are the underwater mapping and fish alarm. I have used it both casting from shore and dragging it behind my kayak. I will turn on the fish alarm as I am paddling and it will alert me of fish I've gone over so I don't have to stare at it constantly. I use a waterproof smart phone pouch around my neck, which in my opinion is a must, to aid in using the device. The ibobber is able to determine two different fish sizes, those under 15 inches and those over 15. The led light is a welcomed feature for night fishing. My friend has the Deeper and while the sonar app looks more like an advanced sonar map I'm not convinced it's actually much better for the price. He continually had problems with the app freezing on his Samsung device. I use an iPhone and have had very minimal crashing on the ibobber platform. His deeper is also considerably heavier than the ibobber. So much so that I would not recommend casting it without heavy braided line. I use a dedicated dock demon pole with heavy braid to cast mine out and leave it there while I fish with my other rods from shore. The Deeper also makes you purchase a separate cover if you want to access it's led light for night fishing which is ridiculous because of how much it already costs. Battery life is the issue with all these devices. Once they're fully charged they do last around 8 hours. But you must charge it the night or hours before you go out. Charge either of these a couple of days in advance of a trip and they go dead before you get there. Overall I'm satisfied with the ibobber. It isn't perfect yet, none of them are. It's a new generation in castable fishing gadgetry and I'm sure improvements will come along. But for me the price point/ features of such a new gadget was what hooked me. Good luck out there.

So after having the ibobber for about a y at now and using it dozens of times here are my thoughts. It does the job of depth and markingnsome fish. If the water is really choppy it won’t stay connected but that is to be expected when fishing wirelessly. It’s nice to have the lighted ability of it and the range works well for bank fishing. I have used it on my pontoon and it’s a big help there as long as I am not too shallow. The dislikes is being on Apple it took me a while to get the firmware to update but it will just had to try it a few times. When mapping the water bottom it’s should have an indicator to let you know if you reel too fast or too slow. That’s about it though to anyone who purchases it enjoy your fishing.

Love the iBobber. Great while drifting to show the fish from my kayak! Just be sure to buy a protective cover for your phone! Worked flawlessly.

Works well from what little I’ve used in this off-season. Really helpful identifying the structure beneath the water surface so I can make good decisions on what tackle to use. The compact size makes it easy to fit in my gear box.
Only negative worth noting was getting the firmware to update took several tries to get it to work. Not sure what the issue was, but the product FAQs were really lacking in the firmware update troubleshooting area.
Love the device overall and highly recommend it to my fellow anglers!

I just got mine and I’ll start using it this weekend. So far I really like it, it’s compact and easy to use anywhere. I’ll provide an update after I get some time on it.
Update:
I used it most of the day today and it works great. Although the fish weren’t biting it was picking up a lot of them of all different sizes. The only thing I don’t understand is in the app and book it states it picks up above and below 15” size fish with orange tags for below 15” and green tags for above 15” . Today I experienced 20” to 37” fish on the sonar but the tags were orange. I’m not quite sure what to think of that yet. In accordance the tags should’ve been green for those sizes. I love how it tells me how deep the water is and the raw sonar is handy too.

Description

iBobber: Love at First Cast.

This pocket-sized fish finder is as mobile as you are! The iBobber is the smallest and lightest personal sonar depth finder on the market. It is a castable, portable, and wireless fish finder that syncs with the free app on your smartphone or tablet up to 100’ away. This thing is really cool!

Engineered with patented sonar technology providing accurate readings of bottom contours, depths, structures, and fish, the iBobber packs a lot of tech into a very small package.

iBobber was designed with portability and ease of use in mind--perfect for hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, or other fishing situations where size and weight is at a premium.

The free app syncs via Bluetooth Smart to the iBobber device, and allows you to map waterbeds, mark spots, log water temps and depth, add lures, species, and photos in the trip log. The LED beacon, and strike and fish alarms, are great for ice fishing, carp, and night fishing. The high contrast design increases visibility in bright outdoor lighting, and the app’s anti-glare setting helps you see the screen when you are still having trouble.

The patented fish finder displays fish by size and depth to get you on the lunkers fast. Great for finding smallmouth and largemouth bass, panfish (like crappie and perch), salmon, trout, walleye, pike, muskie and other game fish and edible species within 135’ depth.

The iBobber is the best personal fish finder on the market for fishing from shore and docks, and is ideal for kayak or canoe fishing and for bottom sounding areas not available by boat. It works in both saltwater and freshwater, and is very effective at locating fish and structures on ponds, lakes, streams, and rivers.

iBobber is the ultimate in portable fishing tools. Its perfect for fishing trips, in your RV, on your boat for those tight spots, in your car with your collapsible rod or in your tackle box along with your other critical fishing gear. It’s even a great asset to conservationists looking to log water temp, depth and bottom structures in multiple locations over time.

Just received the ibobber, charged it and connected to an iPhone 7. Played around with the app and it seems like a great concept but I'm still a little skeptical. Guess I'll have to take it out to the water and see. One thing that drove me nuts for about 2 hours was the app said there's an update to firmware 2.0. I tried to upgrade it about 10 times and the device never took the upgrade. I even tried using my Galaxy S8 and it still didn't work. Hope it's not glitchy like this when I'm using it.

I bought this to use in the boundry waters snd i have really liked using it the battery lasts s long time. I made a leader for it to be towed behing the boat it seem to work well.

I'd been wanting one of these for a very long time, since hubby and I are shore-only fishermen (fisherpeople?) I bit the bullet and bought one - waited until spring so I could go out and test it within the send-back time. Setup was easy, as well as charging it. The app didn't take long to download. We first tried Bob out (as we've named it) in a local park with a few creeks going through it. Depth was, I'd said, 90% accurate. From knowing the waterway, I knew what was probably fish and what was random branches. Where there fish where it said there was? Yes! Did I get any bites where it said there were no fish? I did not! Therefore, I'd say good accuracy. Another test: went to South Pier in Erie, PA which has a known water depth of 20-30 feet. Bob told me it was 29 feet. Bob also said there was no fish to my left, but a big fish to my right. Bob was correct, (see photo and please excuse my derpyness). Now, for the bad: Bob does not have that great of a range. Weak sonar signal pops up quite a bit. Sometimes you can toss it 30 or so feet out there and the signal is strong, but usually it's better when it's under 20 feet away. This could also be a fault with the bluetooth range in my phone, and not the product.

Works as advertised. Had for a year and a half now and not had an issue yet. Syncs to the phone quickly and gives pretty reliable data. I’ve used it mostly to check out the seabed for depth and gradients and has been great in that regard. Price is solid for what it is and the app is updated pretty regularly. My only complaint is the battery life which for me is a couple hours and the charging base which isn’t easy especially for trips that last a couple days. All in the iBobber has been reliable and easy to use and if/when it ever does break I’ll definitely be getting another.

Who hasn’t wondered about how deep, what size fish or what kind of structures were in their favorite, but uncharted fishing holes? I know I have!

Picked this up to answer those questions.

Right off the bat, I had an issue with updating the device. It required an update as soon as I linked to it(yours probably will too) but after speaking with a very helpful customer service rep, we got it squared away.
Updating the device hint: The directions were very clear and straight forward, after linking it as per the directions (no issues with that) it required an update. It wasn’t updating the way it said to in the directions. So we figured out that it needs to be in the charging cradle to update properly. I hope this tip helps you out if you’re having the same issue I did.

Besides the update issue, it has worked flawlessly and has helped me land a few big bass, as well as helped me see what was going on in the water. Definitely a product worth the money.
