This minor obsession with Bob's Sweet Stripes started at an after-Christmas sale. A major box store sold 160-count boxes of these mints for $1.50 a box -- originally $9. Unfortunately, I only purchased one box for my place of business, to keep it on my desk -- sharing them with coworkers. After all, a coworker that has minty-fresh breath is so much easier to talk with than one that doesn't. Everyone, including me, loved them. How quickly that first box disappeared. One of my coworkers liked the mints so much, once the first box ran out, he was nice enough to try to buy some replacement striped peppermint puffs. We all agreed they weren't the same. While confectionery in nature, they were harder and lacked the flavor Bob’s had. So, back to Bob's.
Pros: The mints come well-packaged. At roughly 1/2" wide by 1" tall, they’re individually wrapped and will stay fresh. They have an interesting consistency in that there is a somewhat harder minty sugary shell with an inner softer confection that melts quickly once the outer shell starts to disintegrate in your mouth. The peppermint flavor is strong, but not overpoweringly so. It's simply perfect and very easy to pop one after the other. Watch out... Bob's Sweet Stripes are addictive--which is why I ultimately had to go with the more expensive 350-count box, as I knew they'd go just as fast as the 160-count box.
Cons: If I HAD to offer any cons (there really aren't any, IMHO), it would be how quickly they melt... lasting roughly over a minute or, just slightly longer, in your mouth. It all depends on whether you suck on them, or, when you get to that softer center, bite on them for that quick burst of peppermint. However, that's part of the charm of these mints. Other similar puffs I tried were too solid (for a soft confection) and didn't have nearly the flavor that Bob's does.
Recommended Purchase: So, I usually finish up my reviews with the million-dollar question of whether I recommend purchasing this item. I think it goes without saying any further... but I will anyway... ABSOLUTELY! Bob's Sweet Stripes are simply a delectable treat that you, and others who like peppermint, are guaranteed to enjoy. Get a lot if you plan to share. They'll go fast.

Here on Amazon, the the top two rated soft peppermints are King Leo's and Bob's Sweet Stripes. I used to be a big-time King Leo devotee but I noticed a drop in quality when I placed my last order of them, and it spurred me to give the Bob's brand a try. I was so amazed at the difference in quality between the two competitors that I had to post some photos. As you can see, Bob's currently produces a much more attractive candy. It practically shouts "QUALITY!" when sitting next to the misshapen and sloppily striped King Leo. The Bob's are also softer and more "melty" in the mouth, which is my preference, and the individual packaging is better as well (no worries about candies coming out of their wrapper when in your pocket!) so...Bob's it is. I'm a convert, and these are highly recommended!
Bob's Sweet Stripes Soft peppermints are my all-time favorite type of peppermint candy. Ever since I discovered eating peppermint enhances memory/retention, I've made it a habit to keep a handful in my purse. I really saw an improvement on my college tests when I used these, and I prefer the melt-in-your-mouth consistency. And, as an insulin-dependent diabetic, if I find myself having an insulin reaction (severe low blood sugar), these melt quicker than traditional hard candy lozenges, which could actually save my life.
Wow! One of the best soft peppermints I've tasted. Just the right amount of peppermint and sweetness. The outer shell melts quickly and you're left with a softer core. Definitely way better than the usual starlight peppermint candies.
I needed candies (that wouldn't melt like chocolates) for giveaways with my business card. These were perfect!
$7.85 is an excellent price for 350 of these mints! I saw 150 selling for over $5 recently at the local Walmart. These mints have a great taste and were soft (not stale). There were some occasionally empty mint wrappers or slightly deformed mints, but because this box is packaged by weight, I do not feel like we got less than the 350. They were a great addition to our employee Christmas gifts! This was what was left over after using about 325 mints to fill gift bags.

I ordered this tub for Christmas so there would be something sweet for my guests to munch on between meals. These mints were perfect! Since they are individually wrapped you don't have to worry about grubby hands. While firm, they were still soft enough so that braces and dentures were safe. Everyone loved them, and they are amazing when thrown into Peppermint Martini's. The tub was a definite hit, and I really hope that they are still available next Christmas. We will certainly buy more.
My twin sister got me some of Bob's peppermint sticks for my stocking this year and I really liked them! When I saw these for pennies on the dollar, I decided to get the 3 pound container. I can't eat a lot of candy, but every once in a while, I treat myself to a couple of these little "puffs". They almost melt in your mouth and are so refreshing. I know they last because I just finished the sticks my sister gave me for Christmas and they stayed fresh. I always toss a couple in my purse as well. Great price and very refreshing. I wear a partial and don't like eating hard candy, even though it's base is metal. This is just the perfect treat for me. Love them! Quality at an extremely affordable price.
Local grocery stores only sell the hard peppermints. Walgreen's in Santa Fe has been the only place I've been able to buy soft peppermint, but they are sold in small bags. The texture and taste of the Bobs Sweet Strips Soft Peppermint Balls are exactly what I want! The 350 count container is great because now I don't have to panic that I'll run out before the next time I drive to Santa Fe. I will keep ordering these forever!
Great peppermints and on the softer side but still hard candy. Taste is perfect too I loved having like York patties (2) after dinner but after trying these I have switched for good! Buy a good quality chocolate and have one of each. Nice after dinner treat! The best. Individually wrapped too so don’t stick together it huge container so have given some to friends,neighbors even mail n garbage people! So far all said that is one of best peppermint hard candies. Think it has right amount of softness
I bought a lot of these over the last few months and took some where ever I went. Every one likes them! I visit some folks with special needs and one gentleman followed me around while I still had my jacket on, I offered him a tic-tac and he face-palmed in despair. It was cute. I relieved his angst immediately and all was well and we were laughing. It takes so little - a tasty mint - to make somebody's day.
