Veanic 3D Replacement Joystick Analog Thumb Stick for Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Controller - Include Tri-Wing & Cross Screwdriver Tool + 2 Thumbstick Caps

Veanic 3D Replacement Joystick Analog Thumb Stick for Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Controller - Include Tri-Wing & Cross Screwdriver Tool + 2 Thumbstick Caps

At first this would have been a two-star review because:
-2 For sending a tri-wing screwdriver that didn't work
-1 For the quality of the the screwdriver after I broke it in a fit of rage that it didn't work.

That being said this review is going to be a 5-star review because of the way Veanic handled their mistake and how awesome their joy-con analog stick replacement actually is. So for the 5-star:
+2 For Veanic contacting me after purchase and giving me a chance to reach out. I informed them of their tri-wing screwdriver not being being the right size and not a week later they sent me a replacement of the tri-wing AS WELL as a replacement for the entire product! That was awesome of them.
+1 For the analog-stick replacement that initially came with the first package. While had to use another set I bought on amazon to install it, the analog stick replacement was great. Haven't had any problems and ended up with a 2nd because of the replacement package! I ended up fixing my own joy-con controller and my little nephew's!
+1 For the replacement tri-wing screwdriver. This time the screwdriver worked great and felt really easy to use for replacing the product.
+1 For the contents inside and my satisfaction of the product. Everything in the deal makes for an easy process of analog-stick, both screwdrivers and the pry tool are all you really need and it's all included in a sweet deal.

The replacement analog joystick for the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con arrived quickly and was new as advertised. It would have been nice to get installation instructions, but fortunately those are pretty easily available online. After installed I had to calibrate the new joystick from the settings menus, and after that the stick worked perfectly! The stick feels a little stiff, and not quite as smooth play as the first party sticks, but definitely better than my broken one... The tools worked great, and were all that was needed for the repair, although I would recommend getting some angled tweezers to make working with those tiny ribbon connectors a little easier.

Nintendo Support told me they only guarantee their $70 Joy Con controllers for 90 days, and that I could pay $10 to mail it to them so that I could pay $30 for them to fix it.

Instead, I bought this replacement analog stick with the tools I would need, all for $12.99, and fixed my own controller using an iFixit guide in about 20 minutes. Admittedly, it might be difficult if you're not technically minded, even with the guide. You might want to see if someone you know would mind actually doing the replacement if you don't want to accidentally yank out a cable or wire. So I would not give it 5 stars on Easy To Install, but that is no fault of the item itself. That's the nature of the repair.

Controller works perfectly now! I'm SUPER happy with this purchase!

I bought two of these to replace the left analog stick on two joycons that were drifting. As long as you are careful the replacement process is pretty simple. The included screwdrivers are, as expected, low quality and will strip out easily. If it strips before you get the job done then I would recommend carefully grinding the tip down on a file or fine grit sandpaper.

Both replacements are working perfectly and I plan to update this when/if they start to drift again.

I got the joystick replacement kit with the tools I needed. I opened up a youtube video on how to replace the drifting joystick. It took me 10 minutes. At first, it only kind of fixed the problem. Then a friend recommended that I reconfigure the joycon from the Switch menu, and it worked perfectly!
Long story short, if you have a drifting joystick on your joycon, this is the solution!

Followed a video on disassembling the controller and replaced the analog stick. Took less than 30 minutes from beginning to end. I would recommend using tweezers on some inner cables since it can be difficult to put back in place and remember the order of the screws as Nintendo uses different thickness and lengths on all screws you are removing. In total there are 11 screws to remove and 2-3 cables that need to be unhooked to get to the analog stick.

This kit made it much easier to replace the control stick. I needed the Y00 screwdriver to make the installation easier so I got this kit instead of the cheaper one without tools. The tools that came with this were great. I needed only one other item from my toolkit (a pair of angled tweezers, to handle the ribbon). I did a previous control stick replacement with a Y0 screwdriver, and it stripped the head on one of the screws. This is why I advise getting the right tool for the job. The phillips screwdriver provided in this package was also the right size for the internal screws.

Installation is pretty straightforward, follow the guide on iFixit. There's about 9 screws to remove, the 4 outer ones with the Y00, and the 5 internal ones with the phillips. The tricky part is getting the ribbons back in. Having the angled tweezers really helped. Also, a magnetic mat was helpful for making sure those tiny screws don't get lost.

After installation, I had to calibrate the control stick. This is in the settings on the Switch, in the controllers section.

Great Joy-con joystick replacement. Took only 30 minutes to fix. NOTE: I am familiar with tearing down computers and electronics.

I WOULDN’T RECOMMEND FOR EVERYONE!!!
Those who aren’t used to handling electronic parts should be super careful. 3-Star “easy to install” rating is skewed toward normal people. If you are familiar with such repairs find a tear down guide and GO FOR IT! 5-STARS!!!

Once the controller was put back together I noticed there was a slight drift but once I calibrated the stick... BOOM DONE!!!

My problem was that the R3 button (joystick click) stopped working. I did all the controller test in the Nintendo Switch system management and found I needed a replacement. Called Nintendo and it was going to be $40 to fix one out of warranty, same price as a new one.

Found this and thought $13 was worth the risk to try and fix it myself. It works great so far and it’s been several weeks. Plus I was able to fix my other Joy-con since I got the screwdriver.

Hi folks, my left Joy Con suffers from drifting/deadzones so rather than hand Nintendo more money I decided on replacing the stick itself

Like many other people said the ribbon is actually slightly longer than the OEM stick, I inserted it into the port, even though it didn't seem like it was actually properly in the port; it still locked fine and the joy stick reported normal.

At first when I tried to calibrate the joy stick, it wouldn't register movements, but I closed/reopened the menu like 3 times and it finally worked. Calibration worked successfully afterwards and I have no problems with the joy con now

While the quality of this joy stick seems OEM and fine, the plastic of the Joy Cons is extremely soft. The first 4/5 screws for the Joy Con shell were difficult to put back at the end of installation since the plastic of the shells was easily stripped. So be real careful with these bad bois. The same screws are also liable to be bent even if you've never touched the Joy con shell screws before so watch out for that.

The screwdriver set seemed really good. It was magnetic and they seemed to be pretty good quality bits despite the handle being plastic.

We purchased this repair kit because the thumb stick on our left Switch Joy con drifted left and nothing else appeared to fix it.

This replacement and kit worked perfectly.

Only 2 things would have made it better. 1) a set of visual instructions or a link to a how-to video. I figured out what to do pretty quickly, but this replacement required me to open up several areas of the controller, so a guide would have helped me know I am doing the right thing. 2) it could have come with a set of tweezers. Tweezers are about the only way to get inside the narrow space of the controller to push the connector for the thumb stick into place. For me, a sturdy cosmetic tweezers did the trick, but the kit should really come with a set.

After I placed replaced the thumb stick and closed the controller, I merely had re-sync the controller and recalibrate the thumb stick in Settings.
