Our Wii console had been sitting on the table for months ever since we purchased a newer model tv. For some reason the A/V connection never worked with the new tv. After seeing the reviews these was worth a try. Read the instructions, connected the cables and powered up the Wii. Back in business. Since then, the family has been using it almost every day. As for picture and sound quality, well the picture isn't as crisp as newer game consoles but it is still good. You may have different results depending on your tv and its picture settings. No difference on sound quality. I would suggest that you purchase new HDMI cables for this as this may make a difference.
The picture is great on my 65" 4k TV. I read a review that said not to use on a TV greater then 40". As you can see from the picture it looks great! Just keep in mind that the Wii is not a 4k gaming PC. I have no lines through the picture and the sound level is just fine. Not to low and not to high. No distortion. I now have the use of my Wii back.
Easy to install. Works perfect. I didn't see a super HD image quality but my purpose was to eliminate the RCA cables.
Works like a charm! I can now play my Wii on my new tv!
The item displays the picture, however the image has red lines constantly crossing through, making it look ugly. I hope there is some way to fix this. Please help, thanks.
Update: company has emailed me and stated mine might be defective, and offered me replacement. Hopefully it fixes the lines problem, if so, will change from 3 to 5 stars.

The PORTHOLIC Wii to HDMI Converter is not an upscaler.
The MAXIMUM native resolution of Wii is analog out 480i or 480p depending on the cable you use, which means the adapter will NOT magically turn your games into 720p or 1080p.
Instead the converter will use the component analog 480p video signal and turn it into digital information to be send through the HDMI cable so as to help Will be functioned in 720/1080p device with better viewing.
Make sure your cable is a HDMI A Male to A Male Cable and the connected monitor has HDMI ports!
It will NOT be compatible with HDMI to mini HDMI Cable, HDMI to VGA Cable and HDMI to DVI Cable. Otherwise there be no sound, no picture, no signal or other incompatible situations.

Works great! The Wii had been sitting downstairs unused. I was a little worried that it might not work on our TV. We have a 65" OLED LG TV and it looks great!
I had my Wii connected to my 4K TV through component cables, but like most TVs these days I had to use the supplied component adaptors that connect through 3.5mm jacks and the picture was terrible. Bleeding colors and blurriness among other problems and I figured even a bad HDMI adaptor would be an improvement. I tried to research these adaptors before buying one because there are so many different listings and I didn't want to end up with a cheap one that was going to break. So after combing through them all I decided on this one and so far I'm quite pleased. The fit and finish and overall construction of the unit is higher quality than many of the others. The plastic doesn't feel cheap and the pieces fit together we'll. The difference in picture quality is what really blew me away. Most people will not notice a huge difference, especially if they have actual component inputs on their TV instead of the 3.5mm adaptors. The Wii is incapable of outputting a true HD 1080p so this small adaptor is not going to change that. So if you are purchasing this because you think it's going to make your Wii look like a PS3, you will be sorely disappointed. If however you are in a similar situation to mine and have realistic expectations, then I highly recommend this Portholic Wii HDMI converter.
I used this to hook up my Wii and this took about 5 seconds to install and worked like a charm on my new Samsung smart tv. Much better picture than with the old rca cables and at least we can now use the Wii again since my TV has no rca jacks. If you are looking for something to be able to hook your Wii up to your tv that has no rca plugs, this is it!
We have a HD Curve TV with no RCA Input Jacks. So for a few years we were playing our Wii Golf and Bowling in the garage. Looking for a way to convert RCA to HDMI, we stumbled across this adapter specifically for our problem! The cost was minimal so we ordered one.
We received it quickly and got one for our Son's home as well. Extremely easy to install, its a plug and play device. You don't really need any high tech skills to install it.
The picture quality was awesome except for a few lines at the very top of the TV that looks a little glitchy. It bothers my wife a little, but it doesn't affect game play, overall game quality is good. You still see the screen very well. It looks like a intermittent thin broken dashes (Two rows) at the top. We just got it last week, so I can't speak to how long it last.
We are now playing in the living room!! Whew hew!!
I recommend this adapter to anyone with a newer TV with no RCA jacks and only has HDMI ports. IT says it has a an audio jack, and it does, but you don't need it using HDMI. I didn't, it sounds great.
Almost works. But don’t buy if they don’t address the flickering problems.
The picture looks OK, probably about equal to the composite cables except a bit more jagged.
Unfortunately there’s a band across the top of the screen that is garbled and flickers, making this frustrating to use.
EDIT: Portholic sent me a new adapter that showed the same behavior, but after a good deal of wiggling and exchanging HDMI cables I got it to work without issues. Now the concern is that the interface to the back of the Wii seems loose, so I'm not sure it will continue to work properly the next time I move my Wii. I also find it strange that during my wiggling/rearranging session, only once did I get it to properly fill my screen on my TV (input set to 1:1 pixel ratio) and it was fuzzy but had no lines. Now it's clear and sharp, likely overly sharp, but does not quite fill the display. Works well to play on though.
