If you too are missing the dearly departed Eclipse Winterfrost mints, rest assured this is probably close enough of a replacement to satisfy. Though peppermint instead of the minty mix that was Winterfrost, these Altoid Arctic mints come in the same tin, are the same size and shape, and have the same consistency as Eclipse mints. I am a peppermint fan and enjoy these just as much as, if not maybe more, than the Winterfrost flavor. Hopefully the price on these comes down a bit - maybe even to the 16 tins for ~$20 that was the golden age of Eclipse mints on Amazon. Nevertheless the soul of Eclipse mints - the strong, long lasting minty taste that doesn't turn sour or stale in your mouth, lives on here. I am happy to have found a suitable replacement.

See my photo. I want the "kick" of the mint from Altoids. Smaller Altoids requires me to pop in a dozen. 1-2 of these and I'm satisfied with the "kick".
I'm quite addicted to these things. I go through a ton of them because now everyone in my family holds out their hands whenever I open the tin - which is often. It's a strong mint with no sugar and tastes amazing. They're just the right amount of hardness so they either dissolve slowly or can be crunched without breaking my teeth. They get a well-deserved 5 stars.
There's one thing I'm bummed about though, and it's that they've recently been taken off the Amazon "add-on item" status and they cost a lot more now. I had been paying around $9 for the box of 8, and now that it's not an add-on item they cost almost $15, or $13ish if I subscribe. I'm not taking away a star because that's not a problem with the product - it's extra shipping cost that was saved before. Amazon, are you listening? Please make these available as an add-on once again.
I used to purchase the original Peppermint Altoids in volume at a warehouse store, but they stopped stocking them. I then tried the peppermint smalls version I found at a big box store, but they aren't strong enough fir my taste. I took a chance on these peppermint arctic Altoids and am very glad I did. They are a strong mint flavor so one or two will do, and the price via subscribe and save is a good value. I love the pop up lid on the tin too! It's actually better than the original tin in my humble opinion.
This little tin is chock full of almost 50 mints (yes, I counted). The mints are small, but big on peppermint flavor. I keep one with me at all times (purse or coat). While they are good as breath mints, they are little miracle workers if you have allergies/asthma or the common cold. Someone gave me one when I was having difficulty breathing while in beginning phase of an asthma attack. It amazingly calmed my breathing down enough until I got back home so that I could take medicine. I tell everyone I know with breathing problems, and they worked for them too. I bought my mom some, and she loves them too. Only thing I don't care for is the artificial sweetener in this, but it won't stop me from keeping these on hand. Great find... also, not readily available many places. That's why I just order them on Amazon, not to mention they're cheaper here as well. Great savings!

My husband was a long time smoker then used all the nicotine replacement options which also included lozenges.
He uses these as an alternative to the nicotine lozenges
They are cheaper on Amazon than in the store so we always make sure we have enough on hand to not run the risk of running out.
Now my husband always has fresh breath and cutting out the nicotine. It’s a win win for us
If I have been eating raw garlic, these Altoids will freshen my breath! My breath stinks to high heaven after eating raw garlic so I stuff my mouth with about 5 or 6 Altoids and no smell! I don't believe you can achieve a higher recommendation of a breath mint than the ability to freshen breath after eating garlic. This breath mint has saved me! Thanks, Altoids!
Great add on item to get you into the free shipping zone, and this is a fantastic deal, better than any retail store. Each tin is loaded with mints, and has a cool flip top. More zip than let's say, a Breathsavers. Altoids taste better. A nice option to that cup of coffee etc., a good mint is a nice pick me up during the day :)
I usually eat the regular Altoids & while I do love them, they have more sugar & I eat so many that decided to try something healthier;. They are a lot stronger, so it caught me by surprise, but I love the little kick you get from them, plus I don't feel as guilty eating so many.
Update 1/2019 - This is now my favorite mint, & have bought more.
These are super... Good little convenient size tins... I don't carry a big purse, but I always have one of these in my purse; one in the car, desk, and several places around home. Always available for me, and friends. The mints are mini- size, probably about 1/3 the size of a regular Altoid. Sugar free, but per the label, 3 tiny mints do have 2 gr Sugar Alcohol. Whoopee!
