PORTHOLIC Wii to HDMI Converter 1080P with 5ft High Speed HDMI Cable Wii2 HDMI Adapter Output Video&Audio with 3.5mm Jack Audio, Support All Wii Display 720P, NTSC, Compatible with Full HD Devic

I was a little worried after reading the reviews however the positive ones outweighed the negative ones and I figured lets give it a try. I am so glad I did and so are my kids.
This converter works awesome! Yes, it doesn't put out the "HD" image but that's because of the console, not the adaptor. However you can't tell the difference. Please see pics. Mine is hooked up to an LG smart tv. We have had no issues, no delays or any other things that I've seen people write in their reviews. I cannot access my Amazon prime app but then again I can't access it through my tv normally either because LG doesn't provide the proper security on this model of TV. So Amazon will not support it. All I can say is for the price and quality, you can't beat it and yes I recommend it!

At first I was skeptical, but the Wii I bought, didn't connect correctly to my video inputs.

The converter arrived as stated. I connected it to my TV. TV displayed "No Signal." I knew it, I knew it wasn't going to work. Oh well, it didn't cost much...

And when I went to take it out of the HDMI port on my TV, I noticed I hadn't plugged the convertor all the way in to the Wii. I pushed the plug in...YAY! It works perfectly, better than I thought it might. I am very, very happy with this product.

Product is Great, I was the problem...

What this device does:
-Takes the analog 480i component signal coming from your Wii and converts it to a digital 480p signal, which it then outputs over HDMI
What this device does NOT do:
-converts your standard Wii video signal to a standard digital HD 720p/1080p over HDMI that works on every TV

Whatever you plug your Wii into with this device (TV, Monitor, or Capture Card), make sure that it supports 480p over HDMI. Otherwise, you will either need to get a different device, or you will need to separately purchase an HDMI upscaler in order for it to work. The Wii does not support HD natively, so if you want to play your Wii games in HD, get a Wii U.

I made the mistake of not checking whether my monitor supported 480p over HDMI before plugging it in, and surprise surprise, it didn't work. That's on me, not the people who made this. I eventually found a TV that supported 480p over HDMI, and it worked fine. A lot better quality video than the standard composite cables that come bundled with the Wii, but also more convenient than component cables that not every new TV or Capture Card supports these days.

The device is pretty straight forward, just plug in the included HDMI cable (a nice bonus), and connect the device directly to your Wii and the cable to the TV -- boom it works! Now we can use the Wii on new TVs that lack component and AV cables. I find that this actually works better than a component cable I was using before.

For some reason, Gamecube HDMI adapters cost way more. The Wii plays GC games, so this works just fine.

Don't let yourself be spoiled by contemporary game consoles! While this won't make your games render in 1080p, the picture quality is good! I noticed no artifacts or flickering the hours I spent playing Super Mario Sunshine.

So far so good! We just got it today and hooked it up. My kiddos were super excited to be able to play all our Wii games (and some retro Sega games) on the flat screen in the living room instead of the family room (which is a bit drafty).

Installation was super simple. Picture & sound quality is perfect in my opinion on my 70+” TCL Roku TV. I don’t know what everyone else is complaining about on the picture quality. I expected super grainy fuzzy picture, but it’s not at all. Maybe others just have crappy TV’s? *shrug*

I connected the HDMI cable (nice quality cable, supplied with the adapter) to the TV, then the cable to the converter, and finally the converter to the Wii. AND bingo, bango, bongo - my games are now full screen on my Samsung 40" Smart TV. No, it's not 4K gaming, but the game fills the entire screen, looks great, and is scaled normally. Nothing seems stretched or distorted; video looks super clean.

Oh, only a single HDMI cable is being used. The adapter transmits the video and audio to my TV through just the HDMI cable. No secondary audio cable was needed.

If you still have a Wii and are using the RCA or Component cables, buy this adapter and improve your Wii gaming experience by at least 100%.

I had to set the Wii to 480i for it to work, otherwise it flickers and loses sync with my Sony Bravia TV. When set to 480i it works great. So I am thinking that there is a conflict between the 480p output signal of the Wii (1st gen, the one that plays GameCube games, too) and the adapter.

From what I can tell, the adapter wants a 480i signal because it wants to convert to 480p on its own. Then it sends the 480p signal down the HDMI cable to the TV. I am pretty sure that this is a correct assessment because I have tried it with 3 different TVs (an LG and a Vizio also) and got the same results.

This should be explained in the documentation.

Aside from this one caveat this adapter works GREAT-- once you set the Wii correctly to 480i (NOT 480p).

This issue wasn't enough to deduct a star, so I didn't. But they really should explain this to people, it would save them some headaches getting it set up.

Adapter and cable arrived yesterday evening, to replace the 3 plug cable from the Wii to TV. Plugged in adapter securely, then cable from adapter to HDMI 2, changed input on TV, and voilá! Great picture filling entire TV screen with color, as well as audio. My grandson was very happy to be able to play on his old favorite game console. I recommend this inexpensive solution for connecting the Wii with more up to date TV sets that require a HDMI input. This keeps the Wii usable for years to come.

Pros: plug and play, colors look vibrant and sharp, best looking picture quality you can get out of a wii even over component cables. If you are already using your component inputs this is especially great to have around.

Cons: I guess all of the wii hdmi adapters are like this, but it is made of plastic. I wouldnt suggest doing a lot of moving of your wii with this plugged in.

Additional: the first one I received made some popping noises during explosions, specifically on super smash during occasions where multiple explosions were happening in addition to regular noises. The lovely lady who responded to my emails immediately sent another upon hearing this and it works flawless, I must have just gotten unlucky and due to the quick response was not much of an inconvenience.

This little device is well made and works as advertised. It actually downgraded the picture quality in my case. Using a 2017 Samsung 4K TV. If I use the OEM A/V adapters with the usual Wii cable, the Samsung appears to try to upscale the image... Or the image is blurry enough that it appears smoother on the big screen. With this unit in place, it appears to be a harsh analog to digital conversion. The TV picks it up as 480 on the HDMI and doesn't touch the signal. I saw less contrast and saturation. I also could now see every pixel clearly. The edges sort of have a mosaic. This is really the fault of Nintendo for putting the Wii out without HD... Or our fault for playing old games on a big TV these days. This product works great. If your tv can't take A/V inputs, get this. If it can, use those.
