I purchased this product in March of 2017, and SIX months later it would no longer charge and would not come on at all, no matter WHAT AC adaptor/USB connector I used to charge it. It would come on all of a few seconds and then power off. I was really enjoying this speaker and so disappointed that it stopped working. Shortly after expressing my disappointment in a customer comment on Amazon, a representative from the AOMAIS customer support team emailed me and offered to send me another speaker. I received a replacement speaker within a week and all is well. The speaker is working great, and my customer satisfaction has returned!

First off, these are amazing sounding speakers when paired as a set. I have been looking for a set of waterproof Bluetooth speakers that I can put around the pool and wouldn't break the bank. I read the more critical reviews and was a little skeptical about buying this brand because of some of the reviews that pointed out issues with "Stop Charging," "Won't hold the Charge," and "Sound quality." I was sold on the customer service reviews and the company's backed product. I purchased with confidence. I ordered one at first but after reading more reviews, I order another the very next day. The speakers arrived two days later. The first thing I did was give both a full charge which took about two hours.
The pairing is very simple (the instructions are on the bottom of the speaker when you unpackage it); 1. You have to shut your Bluetooth off in your phone. 2. Power on both speakers. 3. Press the Volume Up and Volume Down at the same time on one of the speakers. 4. Turn On the Bluetooth on your phone and select AOMAIS. That's it. I tried it with my wife's iPhone 8 and my Galaxy 8S, works great.
I set the speakers on the edge of the pool about 12 feet apart. The sound is in stereo. When you have the speakers at pool edge level, the sound is incredible as it carries outside. I stayed in the pool for over an hour listening to music. The sound is extremely loud at 100% and the neighbors can hear them. I keep the sound level around 50%. As for bass, it does the job. If you're looking for some kind of heavy bass, this is not your speaker and you will likely be paying a few hundred dollars for that setup. The Bluetooth range in my yard is good up to around 40 feet and maybe a little more.
My wife was very impressed and we both agreed that the sound is way better than our portable Bose. That say's a lot.
The speakers feel sold and are good quality. I purchased the protective speaker sling cover for these speakers (one green and one orange). although the speakers weigh less than 2 lbs, it's nice to have handles so you carry them or hook them up. Note: I ordered one Green speaker and one Orange Speaker, just know, the buttons arrangements are different on the green from the orange speaker - not a big deal.
I can not speak to the how long the charge will hold but I did run both for 7 hours. I will run them until they actually stop before I recharge them.
I have had four different portable Bluetooth speakers, you will have a hard time finding a Bluetooth speaker that is of this quality and sound at this price. My wife and I are happy that we made this purchase.
I have been looking for something that would allow me to play the same music in two rooms on the cheap. While they are not as cheap as a $9.99 shower bluetooth set, they are by far the best set I have ever had (and I'm not young). When I say set, I mean purchasing a pair. When the two pair, the stereo is astounding. When separated, you can tell that a channel is missing, but it's the same music, way better than any solution I have ever had. The volume is amazing. I can easily drive the family out of the house when I use them in the basement. I have a friend who is a bit more sophisticated than I am, and is considering a Sonos system. I would too, if I didn't have more modest means. These do any and everything I could have hoped.
I had a problem pairing the two speakers soon after I bought them, and left a message for customer support at about 10:00 pm. Of course there was no answer, but early the next day I had a call from support that walked me through possible solutions. The support was fast and professional, and my speakers were ready to go in no time. I don't usually review items I've purchased from Amazon (or anyone), but these speakers merit your consideration.
*UPDATE* I have had these speakers now since mid-July. There have been a few instances where I asked for customer service, and I always heard from them. I joked that I must be their only customer as they spent so much time and attention on me. I have enjoyed showing off these speakers to visitors. My brother bought a pair (buying a pair is a must), and after seeing (hearing) them, there was a lot of enthusiasm about Aomais and their products and purchasing these speakers and the upgraded speakers. I have not exposed these to anyn water so I can't speak to their water resistance, but one of my speakers fell from a three floor deck, and but for a bit of brushing off, it worked just as before. I am thinking of buying the next level up speaker, but I have to find a place in my home where I can showcase them.
As a general review of these speakers, Randy’s October 2016 review (“most postiives”) really can’t be improved on. What I’m writing here is intended to complement that review with my opinion on the many situations in which I think these are 5-star speakers and a few situations in which I’m not quite as enthusiastic.
I purchased a pair of these Aomais speakers for home use because of the ability to pair two of them, dedicating each speaker to one channel and put some physical space between them to achieve real stereo separation. IMHO, the sound from a single unpaired Aomais speaker is not all that impressive, but two of these speakers paired provides an excellent solution for wireless stereo music reproduction. As I write this I have been listening to Pandora streamed through my ipad for several hours and I am not experiencing listening fatigue. For BT speakers, the pair provides really high quality stereo sound.
I have some audiophile equipment around my home and for “critical listening” (undivided attention) I listen to permanently placed wired speakers fed by good wires and high-quality amp and audio source. But for some at-home listening situations, mobile wireless is better. For example, moving music from room to room on a “puttering around the home” day; putting speakers on two sides of a door to play music down a hallway; putting speakers on both sides of the sink or stove when I’ll be spending a lot of time in the kitchen. .
Also, I will often toss a BT speaker into a pack to take it to the woods or for travel. And when I do that, my first choice is not to take one of the Aomais speakers. My first choice is my Fugoo Style speaker (better single-speaker sound, longer attery life and absolutely indestructible). Putting the Aomais speakers into paired mode can be a finicky process and one I have them paired I prefer to leave them that way.
I have used these speakers exclusively to stream music in stereo. I haven't tried them with video and can't testify to whether there is a lip-sync lag issue using these to view films etc. Because they do not have APTX low latency on board, I suspect there might well be a latency issue in that usage.
Here are some guidelines I have been following when I pair the speakers: (1) I turn off all other BT devices when I pair the speakers. These may not be absolutely necessary but if you’ve previously paired one of the Aomais speakers to another currently available BT device that seems to interfere with the speaker pairing process. (2) I have marked one of the speakers with tape so that I can identify it as my “master” speaker. (3) I set the speakers next to each other, turn them on simultajneously and when both are in generic pairing mode long press the volume-up and volume-down buttons simultaneously on your "master" speaker. The speakers quickly indicate they are paired. (4) Once the speakers are paired, I on my BT source (ipad tablet) and pair it to the master speaker.
Additional observations:
Pros:
- The IPX7 rating gives me confidence that I can place them on the sides of my kitchen sink. I did pick up a couple of ceramic pedastals at a thrift store to keep them from getting grungy.
- I mounted them on tripods just to prove it works. I tried this out with small inexpensive microphone stands with an adapter to convert the mounting bolt size from 5/8” to ¼”. I won’t be using tripods around my house because even a small tripod requires a lot of floor space; but if I ever take these to a meeting, especially an outdoor meeting, I’ll be using tripods. I like having this option.
Neutral:
- Reasonable rated battery life (7-10 hours); I haven't used them long enough to determine actual battery life when used in stereo model but they’ve been playing several hours now with no diminution of sound.
- Acceptable BT version 4.0. There are few BT speakers that are more current (for example, the bargain-priced Sharkk Watson, which I bought here on Amazon.) I personally wouldn't purchase a BT speaker with a BT version older than 4.0.
- Doesn’t have every possible feature and function but has enough of them that you really need to read the manual to understand what you can do with this speaker and how to do it.
Cons:
- While the buttons provide very versatile functionality, I think their design is flawed. The buttons are hard to see (the four top buttons are right next to each other and black on black) and stiff to press, The buttons on both the Fugoo Style and Sharkk Watson have better visibility and ergonomic design. I will probably rely on my ipad instead of the speaker buttons to control volume, advance tracks etc. I am not accessing a phone with these speakers with a Bluetooth phone but I think I might have a hard time triggering phone functions with this speaker.
- The speaker pairing function and the language-change function both require the user to simultaneously press the volume-up and volume-down button. It is way too easy to confuse them. It's nice that you can get audio feedback in English, Spanish, French, or audio beeps. But I inadvertently changed from English to Spanish on one speaker and the process of cycling back to English was long and tedious.
Given my specific use for these speakers, my impression of these speakers is overwhelmingly positive. If you are thinking o fbuying this speaker o toss in your pack and use with your smartphone, you may want to read reviews by other purchasers who have been using the speaker for those purposes.
I got this speaker using a birthday amazon gift card a little over a year ago. The speaker is impressively loud. I've used in at the pool (floating on the little raft they include), in the shower, at the lake, on my boat, in the garage, and strapped to off road toys. The sound is clear with as much bass as can be expected out of the driver size. Bluetooth connectivity is simple with the NFC tap feature. I've also used the aux port which works just as well. I would stick to bluetooth use with the flaps closed around water.
About 6 months after I bought the speaker the bluetooth suddenly would no longer connect. I tried several devices and could not resolve the issue. I contacted support@aomais.com and they promptly shipped me a replacement with a return label for the malfunctioning speaker. The replacement came in a brand new box with all the accessories rather than a refurb as expected.
I have to give this guy 5 stars for cost, performance and support.

This speaker is amazing and for the price, it is loud, lasts about 2 days on one charge, and pairs automatically. It's fully waterproof and is safe sitting next to the pool, beach or wherever your travels take you.
Update (1/11/18):
After owning this speaker for 3 months it developed an issue that if I tried to go above 1/2 volume it would cut out and turn off. After contacting the company they sent me a replacement free of charge. I appreciate a company that stands behind there product and even more importantly behind there customers! I hope to find other items down the road to purchase through Aomais.
INSTRUCTIONS: PAIRING 2 UNITS in STEREO! Go to SETTINGS on your IPhone. Turn OFF Bluetooth. Turn ON BOTH Speaker units. You will hear “Ready To Pair”. HOLD BOTH the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN BUTTONS on ONE Speaker unit. It will “BEEP BEEP BEEP” when the 2 units are successfully paired. Go to SETTINGS on your IPhone and turn on ONLY 1 of the 2 AOMAIS SPORT II. THATS IT! Super duper mega awesome separate STEREO SOUND SYSTEM. These should work charged (unplugged) or while charging. Charging will maintain playtime/internal battery life. Yes!.. You are getting TWICE THE VOLUME PAIRED. You will also extend your play time at half volume. Each unit becomes MONO LEFT and MONO RIGHT when PAIRING TWO Units. It also doesn’t matter if you pair two different colors of AOMAIS Sports II such as (1) Green and (1) Orange. This will still work. My preference is (2) matching colors paired together but either way it sounds great in TRUE STEREO! Example: I can hear Lead Vocals and Drums in BOTH, Lead Guitar in ONE and Rhythm Guitar separated in the opposite Speaker unit on my current selection. I did a TON of research and comparisons on portable speakers with Bluetoooth capability before purchasing and I would certainly buy this one again! Sound quality is excellent, automatically pairs with devices it has previously paired with, and loud! Sounds excellent at max volume which seems rare with speakers at this price point. I have not tested just how waterproof this speaker is, but I am confident it will be just fine. They send a floating device with it as well. Excellent product and value!
These speakers are spectacular! Very satisfied with this purchase. The individual speaker sound is very good. Not exceptional, but very good, especially considering the waterproof design. However, when you purchase the pair of these and sync two speakers they play in STEREO sound, and the sound becomes exceptional. Small speaker - Check. Bluetooth - Check. Weather/waterproof - Check. Great sound - Check. Reasonable price - Check.
The one minor complaint I have - getting the two speakers to sync together can be a bit clumsy. Every time you connect via Bluetooth you need to guess which speaker is the 'master' speaker or the stereo sync will not operate as expected.
