I'm a semi-novice home chef but I know that good, creamy risotto is a difficult to accomplish - requires patience and the right ingredients. This kit provides the latter, including a wonderful truffle sauce. Easy-to-follow recipe was spot on for duration, and the resulting dish was outstanding. I recommend following the suggestions and adding 1/2 cup of white wine to the broth and pairing with pan-seared scallops. This would make a wonderful valentine's dinner or date night in.
Everything needed was in the kit. Some of the items like the cheese & onions required liquids to reconstitute. It came with an instruction card and pictures which was nice. It was a process to make...it required constant stirring. The truffle mushroom sauce smelled wonderful but black truffle and truffle “flavor” were the last two Ingredients listed on the sauce bottle. It made a lot and was yummy although I was disappointed about the truffle “flavor”...what are the ingredients in truffle “flavor”? I’m thankful for the ingredient card though as it can help me recreate this delicious meal.
As a long-time foodie, I love to cook for family and friends. Read the WSJ article about these food kits and was hoping they had improved over those we had a number of years ago. OMG, Rachel’s Takeout Kit was fun to fix and tasted fabulous! We paired the risotto with seared scallops and a spinach side, paired with our favorite chardonnay. Beautiful... Looking forward to the paella kit in the new year.
This is a fine risotto that is not too difficult or time-consuming to prepare.
My whole family loved this little kit. The risotto was great. I would highly recommend it. Great for a date night dinner with some red wine. Must try. I would get it again.

This was really delicious and easy to make! Portions were generous too and the instructions were very easy to follow. Will definitely order this again. This is a life-saver for when we have unexpected guests.
I was a little apprehensive using canned mushrooms, but the end result tasted great! The instructions were super easy. Risotto can be a tricky dish to get right but I really felt this was almost fool proof. Would definitely buy again.
Everything was great about this, except the texture of the rice made it home it not great for leftover. I will buy again when I am feeding others.
I like eating but don’t like cooking , but Rachel had done such good job putting all ingredients together, make cooking fun,
Most importantly it tastes very good.
These ingredients are wonderful together.
