Amazon Meal Kits, Chicken Tikka Masala with Spiced Cauliflower & Peas, Serves 2

Amazon Meal Kits, Chicken Tikka Masala with Spiced Cauliflower & Peas, Serves 2

Pretty good, especially if you're craving Indian food but don't want to go out for it.

The Good:
+ make Indian food in your own home. (great intro for first-timers to this kind of dish, and you can certainly use the recipe card included and buy ingredients to adapt it yourself... or just get the kit again)
+ value - it's about $20/meal/person if you go out (with naan, main dish, and tip). This is less than $20, and you get TWO meals out of it.
+ reheats well. If you're only cooking for one, or don't eat a whole lot in one sitting, make the whole thing and put the leftovers in the fridge.
+ rice is easy to make, and cooks perfectly (and you can leave any unused portion in the container and heat it later, in the same container!)
+ good veggie combo. Crunch goes well softer textures of chicken and rice.
+ it's not in the main picture, but it comes with a side called "raita". It's yogurt-based, and it goes great with spicy things. Take a bit of the chicken, then a spoonful of raita. I dunno if that's how you're supposed to eat it, but that's what I was doing, and it's pretty good that way!

The Room for Improvement
- came with thigh meat. I was disappointed since I prefer breast meat. However, after cooking in the sauce for a bit, it wasn't as big of a deal. Still cooked to delicious, tender pieces.
- takes more than 30 min to prep/cook. Took me around an hour, with cutting and cleaning.
- the sauce was a fair bit more soupy compared to the thicker and creamier sauce you'd get at a restaurant. (ALTHOUGH this could have just been from me getting used to using a brand-new stove and not yet used to what heat levels the knobs actually set)

YMMV:
It's pretty mild. I'd say 1 star (on a spiciness scale, or if you get asked at an actual Indian restaurant).
Seems incomplete without naan.

This meal was tasty, but didn't have super strong Indian spice flavor that you would be used to with Indian takeout or from one of the jar marinades. If it was spicier (in flavor, not heat) this would be a 5 star meal. Super filling for two people and easy to cook. I used Avocado oil instead of vegetable oil; the chicken browned perfectly. Also, didn't feel like grating the cucumber so o just chopped it up. The raita still tasted normal!

Overall, we enjoyed this meal and it was easy to cook. I agree with other reviews that I would have liked a little more concentrated flavor. Amazon should recommend that you purchase some naan to go with the meal. Also, for the meal kits in general, I'd like a use by date. I appreciated that the rice was already cooked but it made me wonder how long it was safe to keep before it needed to be consumed or thrown away. My other meal service has the number of days we need to cook it within on the recipes. I'd like to see something similar to that on these meal kits as well.

Quite possibly the best Chicken Masala I've had. I'll definitely purchase this kit again. The fresh ingredients are why it's so good, and those spices! My wife and I have prepared four different Amazon Meal Kits so far and were happy with all of them. We've tried other meal kit brands, but we think Amazon's are the freshest and best quality. It's so fun to open the box and see all of the ingredients packaged so nicely. Most of the packaging is recyclable and reusable, minimizing landfill-bound waste.

This was the best meal kit I have tried so far. Everything was delicious. I especially like the rice came precooked but held it's texture and the sauce was terrific. It was plenty of food for two.

Description

Chicken with Indian-derived spice blends, a tomato-cream sauce, cauliflower, peas, and basmati rice

Really tasty, generous portions of veggies and meat. The curry was very delicious and easy to make spicy ( of course you could add less), but full of flavour! Only took about 30minutes to make which was a great plus!

Delicious! And, super easy instructions to follow. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is the chicken and onions come cut and the cuts are terrible. All different sizes, making it difficult to cook the chicken evenly.

Overall this was amazing and I would buy it again. Out of the 2 small cucumbers one was rotten and the other was very soft. It took me about 45 minutes start to finish and I was very pleased with the outcome. I added Naan bread and so glad I did!

The meal was easy to make and seems healthy. The reason for 4 stars is I wish the masala had a little more flavor. It was bland.

It was top quality! The ingredients were good quality. I have to say it was delicious. I will try this again. So good!!
