Wonderful Pistachios, No Shell, Roasted and Salted, 6 Ounce

Wonderful Pistachios, No Shell, Roasted and Salted, 6 Ounce

I seriously don't understand the negative reviews. I buy these all the time in the store and finally ordered them here for a better price . The quality is the same, and they taste great. I bought these in Apr 2015, and the expiration date is Feb 2016. One reviewer said theirs were dark all the way to the center; mine are a very light color in the center. Yes, they look to be a bit shriveled as opposed to the ones you shell yourself, but that's because they've been roasted outside of the shell! They are not too salty as another reviewer stated, unless you simply don't like salt. If you like shelled roasted/salted pistachios, you will love these!

If you like pistachios and you like the taste and texture that roasting generally pruduces with nuts, you will really like these.

There are no shells to break away or spit out or clean up...just pour a handful and enjoy!

The roasting effect is on the surface of the nut, where it produces great flavor and texture, rather than on the shell, which is discarded.

Pistachios are said to be very nutritious. I just wish the price was a bit more economical...then I would indulge a bit more.

As celiacs know it's very hard to find truly gluten-free nuts with no cross-contamination, I tested these using the NIMA gluten sensor and it came back completely negative for gluten so enjoy!

I love pistachios, particularly salted ones but I hate shelling them. The shelled ones from Wonderful are... well... wonderful! I end up eating too many of them because they;'re so delicious and salty and crunchy. I'll eat them either straight on on salads sometimes. We do a subscribe and save on them but the 5-pack never lasts more than a week or two.

These pistachios have a good taste, and I like it they are already shelled. I have had a “subscribe and save” subscription for a few months now, which helps out to make the price per ounce much better than other brands sold here and elsewhere.

Description

6 Ounces of Wonderful Roasted & Salted No-Shell Pistachios. Roasted and Salted Wonderful Pistachios have literally come out of their shells. Same delicious taste, but with a little less work for you. Still great for snacking, they’re also a wonderful addition to your culinary creations.

Delicious, and a bit too convenient. Shelling Wonderful Pistachios used take a bit more time, resulting in slightly reduced consumption of these tasty, nutritious nuts. It's kind of dangerous not having to separate the meat from the shells, if ya know what I mean! Best quality commercially available pistachios.

THE NUTS STAY FRESH IN THEIR RESEALABLE POUCHES AND ARE AS CRUNCHY AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BAG AS AT THE TOP. I GOT THESE FOR MY MOM AS SHE CAN'T OPEN THE SHELLS HERSELF ON THE NUTS YOU GET AT THE STORE. THE PRICE WAS RIGHT AND SHE LOVES PISTACHIOS FOR AN OCCASIONAL TREAT. THEY HAVE FIBER, AND VITAMINS AND MINERAL LIKE B6, VITAMIN E, THIAMINE, IRON, PHOSPHOROUS, MAGNESIUM, AND L-ARGININE SO THEY ARE LIKE TASTY LITTLE BITES OF HEALTH THAT CAN BE EATEN ON EVERYTHING FROM PORK OR LAMB ROASTS, TO SALADS AND DESSERTS AS WELL AS ALONE IN MODERATION FOR A FILLING SNACK AS WELL. IT'S HARD TO FIND A BAG OF THIS SIZE IN THE STORE AS WELL.

These were actually quite good tasting pistachios! Was afraid after reading some of the reviews that they might be stale or too salty but they tasted fresh and delicious. So nice to be able to eat them without having to shell them! We must have gotten a good batch. The expiration date on the ones we got were 5/2/2014.

As I compose this review I am happily munching on this my third order of Wonderful, delicious, shelled, healthful and SALT-FREE pistachio nuts.

Salt-free? See The Suggestion.

But first...
The Confession:

"My name is B. Matthews and I am addicted!"

These easy-to-devour pistachios are SO good, it's a shame the slogan 'Bet You Can't Eat Just One' is already trademarked.
After consuming approximately two dozen 6-ounce bags so far, there has never been a spoiled or overroasted nut, and only once was there the presence of a piece of shell.
We don't have anything on subscription with Amazon and this item could well become the first.
But as a confessed addict, do I dare....!??

They're not too salty out of the bag (that's subjective of course), and it is a plus that the company uses sea salt over regular.
But even sea salt is sodium, and MORE sodium no one needs. A single bag contains nearly 1,000 milligrams of it.
Which brings this review to...
The Suggestion:

You can't buy these pistachios salt-free (yet) so here's what I've been doing to make them so.
1. Pour a bag into a strainer.
2. Run the cold water at full force over them for a minute.
3. Shake off the excess water and dump them into a washer/dryer nylon net bag (I bought one just for this purpose).
4. Put the bag in your dryer at high heat.
5. Five (+/-) minutes later out comes dry salt-free pistachios!

As an alternative to #3-5, lay them out on a metal pan and dry them off in your oven. You'll get the same result.

Edit: Weird, I wrote this review on Saturday, June 8, 2013 but the posting date says "May 17."

Update on 7/25/2013: Product continues to be first-rate and we're still re-ordering 'em.
Update on 4/01/2014: When I wrote my original review cost was $15-$18 for the five. Now it's nearly $40! Are they serious? Addiction broken.

This is the best deal for shelled pistachios I could find. Nuts are in 6 smaller packages so you can open one package at a time without worrying about all the other pistachios getting stale. I would recommend these to anyone who loves pistachios but doesn't necessarily want to eat too many at one time.
