Terrasoul Superfoods Lucuma Powder (Organic), 16 Ounce

Terrasoul Superfoods Lucuma Powder (Organic), 16 Ounce

So I’m lazy and don’t make ice cream from scratch like I originally intended with this powder. Growing up Peruvian, I grew up eating Lucuma ice cream and I love it but hated paying $12 at the Latin superstore an hour away from me for a tub of Pezi Duri. So, genius me decided to buy vanilla icecream with chocolate chips (Haagen Daz). I let the ice cream soften a bit then added a couple of spoonfuls of the powder, stirred it and put back in the freezer. The ice cream never went back to its hard form but it was honestly the perfect consistency for me with the amazing flavor of lucuma and chocolate chips. I can’t tell you how much I used, I just kept adding until it tasted “right.” I’ll have to try this with banana bread next. The possibilities are endless.

Just received my first order ever of Lucuma powder. When I read a review that described this product as "luscious"...well, I just had to try it! So here is my newbie experience with the "Gold of the Incas" superfood.
The Lucuma powder is a very fine grade powder of a buff/beige color. The fragrance has a "berry/apricote-like" scent..but nothing that will over-power your olfactory senses or recipes. Upon tasting it for the very first time, I detected several notes of subtle flavor of maple with a very mild berry or apricote-like flavor. I used 1 full Tbsp (3 tsp = 3 servings) of Lucuma in my cacao blender ice cream in which I also used the following: 3/4 c. Hemp milk, 4 ice cubes of organic coconut cream, 6 ice cubes of Tempt Hemp Milk, 1.5 - 2 Tbsp of organic Cacao powder, a dash of Vanilla extract, 1/4 tsp Pink Himalayan salt, 1 serving of collagen powder, 1 tsp Acai powder, 1 Tbsp of organic Dolcedi and 1 Tbsp Erythritol; run in blender at moderate speed till ice cubes no longer solid. It was delicious but the Lucuma certainly isn't sweet enough on it's own to carry the level of sweetness required for "ice cream" but it does bring some interesting flavor with it's very subtle maple-apricot flavor to my blender chocolate ice cream recipe.
Lucuma is recognized not only for its flavor, texture and creaminess enhancing qualities, but also for potential nutritional benefits frequently mentioned by health advocates; low glycemic impact sweetener, potential benefits for diabetics and pre-diabetics, anti-aging phyto-antioxidants, digestion promoting fiber, vitamins and trace minerals with appreciable levels of potassium, iron, beta-carotene, skin health promoting and healing benefits. Certainly Lucuma should not be expected to produce the sweetness levels of high glycemic sweeteners such as granulated sugar or honey as its sweetness level is more comparable to what you'd find in some fruits with its subtle sweetening properties...bear in mind you may want to use another low-impact glycemic sweetener along with Lucuma to achieve a desirable level of sweetness!

Many people claim that lucuma is a sweetener, but I find that this delicious powder lends a hint of caramel flavor to smoothies, oatmeal, and even chocolate chip cookies. This in no way would replace sugar for me, but a little goes a long way in giving treats a hint of caramel flavor. The light powder has a subtle flavor, and Terrasoul does the best job with lucuma. It is delicious and has a slightly sweet aroma. I do not eat this on its own, but when stirred into baked goods, smoothies, or overnight oats, it is a perfect touch!

Terrasoul Superfoods organic Lucuma Powder is of top quality, I have enjoyed blending it with my almond milk as a gentle sweetener due to its delightful, unique taste and superfood nutritional value. Product arrived on time, intact and as promised. Will reorder from this company.

I originally ordered this from a suggestion on a blog that I follow about healthful eating. I was interested in finding a sugar substitute with a low glycemic index. Not only can I use this as a sugar substitute but it also has other health benefits such as antioxidants as well as the fact it is organic, raw and non-gmo. So far, I have used a tablespoon of locuma powder everyday in my bulletproof coffee and in my almond meal mug cakes. I would say the locuma powder adds a hint of sweetness without any other lingering tastes, although if you taste the product on its own, it kinda reminds me of a "sweet iced tea" mix. I would suggest this for anyone in search of a low glycemic sugar substitute for any purpose.

I love it! I put lucuma in everything, from my morning coffee to a date caramel recipe. Not sure what the effects are supposed to be, but I really like the taste of it and it adds a bit of creaminess to smoothies, coffee, and protein shakes. It does have a slight sweet and caramel-y taste, which is why I like it and why I bought it. Again, I can't comment on the health effects of the lucuma itself, but it works in what I use it for (for a slight sweetener) and is very versatile. The seller is also awesome!

I'm still learning about Lucuma powder and how to use it. It's less sweet than other sugar alternatives I've tried, but I definitely like the "taste." It tastes a bit like maple and butterscotch without the extreme sweetness that I find unacceptable. I've ordered from Terrasoul before, and would again without hesitation.

Bought this for a special recipe that used it as substitutes for standard sweeteners. The recipe only called for 1 tablespoon so I'm trying to figure out what to do with the rest of the bag. So far no complaints on the quality or flavor and folks enjoy the dessert I made using it.

Really love this stuff. First time trying it and it adds great amount of sweetness, a rich flavor (blends really well with peanut butter, coffee, cocoa flavors), nutrition, and just works really well in my morning smoothies. Will definitely repurchase, though this bag will last a LONG time, even with daily use!

I bought this to amp up flavor and nutrition in smoothies--pairs well with frozen banana, chocolate, coconut, mango. Might be interesting in pancake or muffin batter, too.
