OMOTON Kindle Paperwhite Case Cover - The Thinnest Lightest PU Leather Smart Cover Kindle Paperwhite fits All Paperwhite Generations Prior to 2018 (Will not fit All New Paperwhite 10th Gen), Purple

OMOTON Kindle Paperwhite Case Cover - The Thinnest Lightest PU Leather Smart Cover Kindle Paperwhite fits All Paperwhite Generations Prior to 2018 (Will not fit All New Paperwhite 10th Gen), Purple

I ordered this case with a lot of concerns. I wanted something light to make one handed reading comfortable. I wanted it to be thing so that it wouldn't bulk up my device in my hand/pocket. I also wanted something that would protect the screen if my paperwhite was stored in a pocket or a bag.

I probably changed the cases in my cart twenty times before taking a deep breath and submitting my order for this case. I kept wondering if a sleeve would be better to keep the device light for one handed reading and worried that the case would bulk it up and make it no better to hold than my android tablet (uncomfortable to grip and too heavy for reading).

All of that aside, this case exceeds all of my greatest hopes for a case. It fit PERFECTLY on my paperwhite and once I snapped it in it wasn't going anywhere. The case is incredibly light and honestly I can't tell much difference between the weight of the kindle with and without the case. This case also happens to be extremely thin. To grip it is an easy grip and thus far (2 days in) has no scratches or finger print issues whatsoever. I believe this case is the best deal out there, I shopped around a lot and this one was a tremendous bargain. Forty bucks for the official kindle case made by amazon is crazy! This case has the magnet for auto shutoff when closed just like the amazon one for a fraction the price.

I have had no issues with this scratching my kindle as another reviewer noted and the delivery by Dealbarn was quick and nicely packaged. They were friendly and sent a thank you email offering to assist with any issues and I have none thus far.

Pros:
-Very light, harldy noticeable
-doesn't look cheap at all, but a very good deal
-nice and thin
-simple and elegant design
-auto off when closed works great

Cons:
-nothing so far

In closeing this case is worth every dollar and you will be suprised by the qualtiy you get for such a good deal.

Edit: a year in and I have been thrilled with this case. I bought it for a Christmas present and have recommended it to many friend who have been pleased with it as well. And it saved my precious paperwhite's life! I have dropped it on concrete twice and the case protected it from breaking, I know this case is NOT designed for this sort of impact, but it protected it nonetheless.

A really nice case for a really nice price! I have had the case for about 3 weeks and am a daily reader, so here is my take thus far.

The Color: I got the blue cover and it is true to the color shown in both the customer review pics and model pics (dusty blue-ish). I normally get a black or brown case for my electronics but I decided to do something different with mine, as seen in the attached picture.

The "Feels": The case feels a little flimsy when empty but once my Kindle was placed inside, it felt quite sturdy and the magnet holds very well despite flopping around in my crowded purse. I compared it with a friend's 1-year old official leather Amazon case and the Omoton was considerably lighter but still with an overall sturdy structure. I have not yet dropped my Kindle from a height so I cannot advise on its performance when dropped, but it will definitely protect against the daily dings and whoopsies of clumsy readers such as me.

The binding (the area of the cover that bends) is soft enough to swing all the way back and although you can see creases from the material slightly bunching, it springs back into smoothness when you close the cover. So far as I can tell, it does not feel flimsy.

Side fact: I'm one of those people who read in bed and drop the book on their face, and the outer material of the Omoton has a softer feel so it did not abrade my nose when I dropped it. It is not soft and squishy, but it is pleasant to the touch and not like a block of concrete. The fake leather, though textured, does work well with double-sided tape if any of you were thinking to customize by adding a photo on top.

The inside of the front cover is microfiber-soft and pleasant to the touch, which provides a nice grip-area when holding your Kindle. I have not tried to remove my Kindle from the case yet but it was fairly easy to snap in, and the fit is snug enough that when I did a test "jiggle" the device stayed firmly in place.

FORMER REVIEW:

I like this case pretty well as a case, but much to my surprise, after owning it for about two months, a small piece of black plastic broke off of the tab on the side, leaving the magnet partially exposed, and a sharp plastic edge. I super-glued it back on, but it's not the same. I never dropped it or anything; it's clear that the plastic molding just has a weak spot there that is likely to cause problems if it's ever stressed.

UPDATE: Omoton saw this review (in which I gave the product 2 stars) and offered to send me a new one. I wish I had been able to contact them directly but didn't see a way to do that through Amazon. In any case, the replacement arrived quickly, and I'm glad to go back to having a nice Kindle case rather than my jury-rigged fix. I'm sticking with 4 stars for now because I don't yet feel confident that this will last for the lifetime of my Kindle, but if I never update this review again that either means that this version didn't fail, or that I met an unexpected demise.

I love how lightweight this cover is. Protects the kindle and the light color of the "Rose Red" map makes it easy to find in my purse. The texturing is really nice and non-slip.

I often read in bed, lying on my side. This cover can be easily propped up like a tent, hands-free, easy to see.

I notice that the portion of the old world map image used for the cover design has changed/shifted slightly, but when I bought it, the EXACT graphics shown by amazon in the illustrative photo at the time. In other words, what you see is what you will get. Right now the back cover of the Rose Red map seems to show Africa, the front cover shows the Indian Ocean, all of which is pretty cool.

This case has excellent features, but I've encountered problems which I've endured for some time. Now it's reached the dislike point. Each corner of the OMOTON case has cracked and broken off, and recently the on-off capability has stopped working properly. The case still holds the Kindle snugly, but it's sharp on the edges where the case has broken. The on-off capability has been perfect, but now it only functions occasionally, and this could be due to some misalignment from the broken case corners. I haven't abused the case. It has had about three to five drops from bed height to a heavily carpeted floor which caused no damage to the Kindle. The cracks occurred at times which were not the same as the drops, so it seems to be a defective material. I purchased it in the summer of 2014 from Amazon, and the cracks began about a year later.

UPDATE: I should have tried harder to learn how to contact OMOTON directly, especially since other reviewers noted that they are responsive to their customers. I did search further after posting the poor review of the Paperwhite Case Cover, found how to reach them directly, and wrote to them directly. I explained that I haven't left a one-star rating before on Amazon for any vendor, had not remembered that OMOTON provides a lifetime warranty, and read in another user's review that OMOTON obtained some defective cases in the summer of 2014 which had this corner breakage problem.

I did hear directly and expeditiously from OMOTON, they apologized for my inconvenience, and they were courteous and helpful in every way. They promised to send me a replacement case at no cost, and I find that it's now on the way from Amazon. I am VERY pleased with OMOTON and their actions! I wish to add that this case was excellent in every way before the corners began cracking and breaking, and I did not want to have to search for another case which might not be as good as their case. KUDOs OMOTON!

Fits my paperwhite perfectly. Not too tight...just perfect! The auto on/off works perfectly. Slim nice looking and protective. Nice texture makes this reasonably priced case look higher end I ordered purple and it looks like the same shade of purple that the picture depicts. Will definitely order this brand again!

The cover was too small for my 2014 Kindle Paperwhite. Several of us tried but the Kindle will not pop into the case. If you have the basic Kindle 90C6 do not buy this. I purchased the brown map cover. Will be returning this and purchasing from another.

Update: The company contacted me about the issue & it turns out that there is another cover that fits my device, so be very careful what you order. There are so many different types of kindles out there & what you think is your type may not be. They sent me a free replacement cover. It is product ASIN:B00MNGL3Z0. It fits my kindle perfectly, is very lightweight, but offers plenty of protection for the kindle without being bulky. It is built very similar to this case. I wanted something that would easily fit in my purse. Thank you Omoton for a great product and terrific customer support. I will definitely be purchasing from this seller again. Never had so good customer service.

4 stars is as high as I normally give. I save 5 stars for products that radically change my life, or which fundamentally change my view of the Universe. This is a solid 4 stars in my eyes since it does neither of those things!

Construction quality seems high, and the size and weight is remarkably small. My Paperwhite doesn't seem significantly heavier or more difficult to lug around with it on, and neither the sleep button or the charging/access port are blocked by the case. Don't let the "PU Leather designation fool you, this is a plastic case of some sort. it's high grade, confidence building plastic, but still plastic. I seriously considered taking away a star for that 'Corinthian Leather' moment the copywriter had when he/she wrote the descriptive copy. But then figured, 'no', most consumers are fully aware that marketing hype is not to be believed. So I've let it slide, some battles are lost before you join them.

I got the brown color the color as displayed in the photos is reasonably accurate. It is a pleasant light brown, that isn't too orange, too red, or too yellow.

The PW is difficult to remove as written in other comments, but I can't, for the life of me, figure out a situation where I would want to remove the PW from the case so long as the case is still functional.

I love the feel of the Kindle by itself actually. But I felt it needed a cover to protect the screen from dust when I'm not using it, and when I'm carrying it out, say, in my purse. I think really leather would wear better; especially in the crease, but I couldn't see spending basically half of the price of the Kindle for a case. I'm pretty gentle on things so took a chance on this, which was really a lot lower price than the leather ones. Now, if I end up buying a new one three times, I'll regret not having got the leather one I guess. But now that I have this, it seems more than adequate. It's very pretty, too. And in regard to the non-leather choices, this one is definitely a good buy. It's extremely light and didn't add much weight.

Best value for a Kindle cover for my Kindle Paperwhite bought new this year. You know, the Kindle with no buttons except the power button. This case has a compact rigid screen cover made of a synthetic material--not as bulky as a leather case. The cover flips shut over the screen and stays shut with a magnetic closure. The power button is not necessary to wake up the device when the cover is opened. I just have to swipe the screen to see my content. When reading, I can flip the cover around to the back and hold onto its non-slip surface.

I saw one of these on the airplane to Scotland this spring. But I could only see the reflection of the name in the window. So, the name was a mirror image. However, I remembered that it had some O's and an M. So, when I got a Kindle for my birthday, I went shopping for the cover (not paying $40 for the branded ones). This was a bargain. It is lightweight, rigid, and protective of the screen as well as making the device drop resistant.
