Our 3 year old's room is on the far side of the house and she's figured out how to let herself out - which led to a couple spooky middle of the night moments when a tiny shape is standing next to my bed staring at me. Luckily, she hadn't decided to change into a clown costume prior to coming down the hallway - because then I'd be reviewing products for adult bed-wetting.
So decided that we needed something to let us know when she escapes her holding cell.
Easy to install. I like that you can adjust the volume. Haven't played much with all the different possible alarm tones, just picked the simplest chime.
Purchased for a neighbor to help manage an Alzheimers patient in the home who like to 'sneak' outside every once in a while. Works well for sliding door application. Volume control is great for those hard of hearing. Value for money - excellent. We'll see how long it lasts. So far, so good. Couple notes: 1) the tunes are nifty- but some songs play a little longer than you really need to 2) the Edison plug-in is not grounded, and the prongs/blades are the same size - so the base tends to want to slip out of the outlet. I think they made the blades the same size so it can be more versatile with outlets/available space, however, that concept backfires a bit because although the item weighs virtually nothing, we had to bend those blades in sightly to help keep it plugged in. Besides that: perfect solution for the need we required of it.
We run a motel with our apartment "in the back". We need to hear when people are entering the front door. We've tried other door sensors. The others don't have the range this one does. We can plug the receiver in our living room and it still receives the signal. I do agree with the one reviewer that on a practical side, there are only about 8 of the 52 tones that you'd want to have going when someone opens the door. But that's OK, it still leaves 8 that can be very clear and heard over the noise of a loud TV.
I put mine on a metal door, but my door opens in from outside. So I don't know if that makes any difference. It's not mounted flat to the door its flat to the frame of the house. I used velcrow stickys to mount the small piece to the door and then screwed the other piece to the door frame. Its outside though (covered porch) and it works great. I don't really understand the other tones b/c i thought I changed it but it still does the basic ding dong door bell sound, which is still totally fine by me. It has 3 volume settings and it can be loud on the top setting (for a house). I have it on the middle setting. Its on my door that has sort of 3 rooms in an L shape to the next room where I have the sound piece plugged in then off that room is the stair case and its loud enough on the middle setting to hear it throughout the house. So I don't know if that helps with anyone worrying about distance and function etc, But I would totally buy this product again. Just gotta take the time to figure out the settings to play a different tone but if I never do that's ok too lol.

This is just what I was after in a door chime. It is easy to install (stick the magnet to the door frame, plug the chime in the wall). I would really like to be able to order more chimes so that I can hear it from every part of my shop.
Pros:
Works well
Easy to install
Pleasant chime
Cons:
Needs to be expandable with option of more chimes
I bought this for my parents who are living in an assisted living center (they are 85 years old). My mother has Alzheimers and when they moved into this facility, was confused and disoriented. Within a few days, she had wandered away from the facility when she walked out of their apartment and left the premises. My father was in his office and didn't hear her leave. She was found 2 miles away. The facility manager called and told me that she would need to be moved to a memory care unit, but I asked if we could try an alternative solution. He agreed.
We had tried a door chime before, but it didn't ring remotely, and my mother would pull it off the door because she didn't like the sound of it. I researched door chimes and settled on this one because of the remote chime, which wouldn't bother my mother since it wouldn't ring at the door.
It took about 5 minutes to install and it works wonderfully.
I love walking into their apartment now and hearing the chime go off in my father's office. It has now been a couple of months since we installed it and my mother has never gotten the chance to wander off again since my father is always aware of her opening the door.
This looks nice, works great, and was simple to install. This was exactly what I needed for my office - I'm glad I got it!
I'll make a couple recommendations - but these are minor points: 1) I wish the more standard sounds were at the front of the sound choices instead of 20-30 choices into the rotation; 2) It would be helpful if it came with a list of all the sounds - it would just make it easier to evaluate the choices and go right to the ones that I am most likely to use; and 3) I wish it had one more lower setting on the volume, as I use this in an office setting - this was easily remedied by putting a band-aid over the speaker area.
We have had this in use for about 4 months and it has worked most of the time. There are times the chime does not work when the door is opened but we have not figured out why. The chime is a little on the louder side, but we do have the receiver in a room in the back of the house which helps to muffle it some. We have been pleased with the chime (so far) and would probably purchase it again for another space.
Oh my gosh I just love this thing. After reading compliments about the chimes, I re-read through the little instruction paper again and found out how to pair them. People arent reading this part. You only have 5 seconds though to make the pair. So I had to unplug it from the outlet I hid it placed in to move it to a closer outlet for the tone paring. Unplugging it doesnt reset it which was something else great I noted. You simply hold the tone and sound buttons together for 5 seconds, it will make a little noise and light up, you then have 5 seconds to open that door after installing the door pcs and it will play the tune you selected. I then unplugged it and returned it to the outlet I wanted it at and the pair stayed. Note: you should pair it BEFORE you install the door pcs, otherwise you will just need to do what I did to change it. I have a metal door that opens inward so unfortunately I had to install the pcs on the outside upper corner on the hinge side due to how this door is. There is a little roof out there so I am hoping it will hold up well out there all year round. I guess we will find out.
